Requesting dapperification. My Metal Slime King could use a tophat for its crown.

If somebody could dapper my new (temporary) avatar here i would appreciate it. I have no image editing program and have never used one anyway.

In progress

My avatar can't be dappered.  Tophats and monocles don't go well with killsats.

Spoiler: Pardon? (click to show/hide)

And, I think you could benefit from gaining the "Doesn't really care about anything anymore" tag*.
plz no. Total apathy and lack of feeling is not a good thing.
Learn to accept and deal with things, sure. But don't shut yourself off to feelings.

I'm certainly not saying dying is a good thing. But I must say. It seems hard to regret dying. As it's hard to regret things when you're dead.

1) See: PM. Don't want to turn this thread into a psych discussion.

2) And yes, that was the point. It was an attempt at levity.

But who cares?No one

I do. And I think I can speak for the whole board when I say that we all do. I have no goddamn idea who you are but it doesn't matter. You're alive, talking, and have problems. That's enough basis for me to want to do whatever I can to help.

But I stand strong hoping for change in this road.

You're doing the right thing. Don't just be passively strong, though. Don't just endure the slings and arrows... try what you can to actually make your life better.

And, I think you could benefit from gaining the "Doesn't really care about anything anymore" tag*. Some of the things you complained about seem to be effecting you greatly, but it also seems like it's your choice that it effects you.

Sometimes you just gotta throw everything into the wind and realize that life, in its most basic form, doesn't suck. Ever read Into the Wild? I'm not suggesting you go do that, but it's definitely a good (and short) read that shows the power of one's mind to make the best of their surroundings.

*I'm assuming you've played DF to know what that means, otherwise the context should explain itself.

The problem here is

but I just have basically zero work ethic.

That will get you nowhere.

I don't know how one inspires a work ethic, some other posts above addressed that, but if you don't think you can handle high school then don't even bother thinking about a trade school/work. Just my 2c.

I'm a welder with four CWB(Canadian Welding Bureau) tickets. I have my SMAW(Stick) Flat/Horizontal, GMAW(Mig) Flat, and FCAW(Flux-core) Flat. I'm currently residing in Ontario, about three hours northwest of Toronto.

Hm. Obviously I don't know the area but I _think_ I can compare it to to the US midwest in terms of spread out rurality?

Biggest advice I can give if you're structurally employed is to just work your ass off. Make friends, work for cheap, and go above and beyond. I had to do that when getting started out of high school. I was reluctantly hired by an industrial robotics company out of high school, as a shop assistant and janitor, for minimum wage. But I pulled 16-hour shifts, fixed shop machines cheaper than a certified mechanic could, made sure everything I did was perfect, started hanging out with the engineers and actually teaching them a few things, and pretty damned quick I was a full-fledged prototype developer with a higher income than many guys with Mech.E. degree.

It ain't easy, and no guarantees that will work, but make sure to work smart and hard. 'Work smarter not harder' shit is utter BS in my opinion.

I'm having a difficulty with adding a tophat to my avatar. If I make it black, then you lose it on the black BG. If I make it white, you lose it on the dorf. And if I make it a primary color it possibly looks good but maybe a bit funny.
Silver!

'eeere we go. Thanks.

I have gotten zero interviews from applying online, plus the shops I'm applying to are small enough I can show up, and talk to the owner if he's there and not busy. And as for dedication, I drove three hours to get to one shop. Dude asked where I was from, and when I said [Hometown] he was like "What. Seriously?".

Where are you, what jobs are you applying for, and what (if any) skills do you have? I could offer some advice - I'm consistently surprised that people struggle to find jobs when I've been having a hard time filling the few spots I've had at times.
