« on: November 22, 2013, 01:48:25 pm »I made a Hello World program in Java! There is absolutely nothing unusual about it whatsoever, as you can see if you download and compile it.
You...
You have too much time on your hands.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Visiting an Abandoned Fortress
« on: November 21, 2013, 11:48:07 am »Actually, If i remember right, items cannot get scattered to places they cannot reach. Maybe wall off the equipment with a drawbridge, make the lever outside pull it up, and then your adventurer can pull the lever down and claim the adamantine weapon.
This should work too.

It's been raining pretty steadily the last three days. This morning I grabbed my sky blue light rainjacket and left to go to a few meetings in the city. Couldn't park close to the BART station, no big deal. That is, until I get out of the car, flip up my hood, only to find that there isn't one.
Who the fuck makes a rain jacket without a hood? I've had it for months and never noticed it, maybe because it's never rained long enough for me to need it.
P.S. I always pronounce 'genital' as 'genn - ital' instead of 'jenn - ital', in honour of Rowan Atkinson.

General Discussion / Re: Amazingly Stupid Things You've Heard People Say
« on: November 20, 2013, 11:58:05 am »Southern California = best weather in entire country. Fact.Pretty sure it's the wet part of Washington, actually. Cold and rains a lot, what more can a person ask for? Socal's too close to Florida in terms of weather, and Florida is hell. 3+/4ths of the year, anyway. Winter's alright.
That's why the SF Bay Area has the best weather in the entire country. Because you can drive about 3 miles and get whatever you want. Fog, sun, clear, rain, wind...
Microclimates, yo.

Only fourteen? Hah.
The three years of high school I went to, I turned in, oh, about 4 homework assignments. Yet I maintained a B average with a around-100% test and classwork average. Something tells me that he might not have that safety net...

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Oh crap...Oh crap--it's dead already?
« on: November 19, 2013, 03:11:53 pm »Breathing frost? Which mod is that?
No mod, it was just how I described it. It had deadly breath, and the game described it as 'frozen FB extract' or somesuch. what I do know is if can't be pathed through, nor cleared away. You have to wait it out, or at least that was what happened to me.
'Frozen' is a misleading term in this sense. It's the same logic as how a machine gun shoots frozen lead.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Stockpiles to Workshops orders
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:49:05 am »Hey, I was wondering why my Quern kept cancelling the 'Mill plants' order by stating 'Needs empty bag' even though I had piles of them all around the fortress. After quite some time I remembered that I had set a small stockpile (that only had certain plants) the order of giving only to that Quern. Once I removed the order, voilą, milling takes place again. So obviously not being familiar with stockpile orders I had thought that the order in question would only mean that the stockpile in question doesn't allow its content to be taken anywhere else than its ordered destination. But apparently the order goes beyond that and restricts the destination to the stockpile aswell, is this correct?
...playing standard v.0.34.11
Making a stockpile give order to a specific workshop forbids that workshop from using any materials that don't come from said stockpile. So if the stockpile set to 'give' to the Quern doesn't have any bags available, the Quern can't pull them from anywhere else.
