I suppose then when WWIII breaks out the other side gets to find out why we can afford government-mandated SKSes and not government-mandated catgirls.  :P

On the other hand, we also often run into the usual issue of the right-wing only caring about gun control when minorities start arming up to protect themselves from being lynched.

That's kinda one of the main moral conundrums here, nevermind the practical issue that disarming a population this big would be a giant pain in the ass: some form of sanity-checking NEEDS to be put in place, but it's hard to build a system where one's definition of a qualified and competent user can't also be warped for political purposes.

DF Announcements / Re: Dwarf Fortress 50.11 Released
« on: October 26, 2023, 11:06:31 pm »
Once again, it's been over a month and the news section on the site header thingy hasn't been updated so it still says 50.10 is the latest release. I failed to notice this update came out until just now due to that.

EDIT: Er, almost a month rather, since 50.11 released. Over a month ago would be when 50.10 released, brain smol

EDIT 2: It has since been fixed sometime after this post. :D

If someone takes "nazis are bad and should be fought" as a personal attack, that says a lot about them doesn't it.  :P

Yeah it's clear this fuckwad is using whataboutism as an excuse for their neo-nazi sentiments, it's been clear from all the shit they've been posting in this thread again and again. No sense in engaging with a troll when they're visibly not interested in doing anything besides waste your time arguing in bad faith.

Well easy answer there: the sort of people calling to lynch people are going to be murderous assholes regardless...unless one does more than punch them. :V

His wannabe fascist bootlickers are gonna riot regardless, so fuck 'em. We aren't out of this until well after the cheeto's doing the hempen jig (rather, him getting properly punished for treason would be the bare minimum to put us on the track to not becoming a fascist shithole, which I feel is unlikely as the end of this sentence implies), so I'm still leery that this will go anywhere. :/

The Russian constitution also grants freedom of assembly, so saying that Russian law forbids anything is functionally meaningless. :V

Nah man, I lost access to my old email account with my dead comp and have no idea what the password for Max™ was, and all of my cookies and whatnot are lost.

Also I completely forgot about Dole when I posted that.

Bruh I mistook you for a sockpuppet of Maximum Spin before I realized you're arguing against his usual alt-right rhetoric XD

I can't tell at this point who's arguing in favor of the corporate scumbags or not now. XD

Not in the mood to feed the troll any further, thanks. :V

Perhaps Random Dragon was wrong after all. Can't say I'm happy to hear that news though. The Ukraine war got more press than all the other wars, but at the end of the day it seems like the West is content to just let Russia grind away at Ukraine until it is dust.

Oh if only I could say I was wrong. The continued extent of how fuck-all good what we're doing has done to actually stop Putin's Small Penis Misadventure means we've blown right past ending 1 (functionally the only one that qualifies as a Good End).

So far we're at the stage of hoping for Putin to commit suicide by multiple gunshots to the back of the head so we can unlock ending 2 (maybe good but a lot of fuckery is in our future).

But if this shit keeps grinding Ukraine down and the world doesn't get Article 5'd in the process, by the time we're falling ass-first into Ending 7 (the one that makes us end up wishing nuclear war will just fucking end it already by the time it finally comes) we won't have time to really recognize that we're officially in the new era of imperialism and militarism, and the eventual prospect of nuclear proliferation, until it's well and solidly too little, too late.

I'd say the fact that various other countries have decided now is the ideal time to begin starting shit is a bad sign that implies we might be getting ready to fast-track that Bad End. We've already had some of the ex-Soviet countries decide that this is a fine time for a slap fight, Sudan is doing fucked if I even know kinda drugs and is in a slap-fight with itself, Israel and Palestine have decided to have a slap fight over whether Gaza would prefer its terrorism kosher or halal...

I never saw that post before but... it looks completely nutty. Just totally outside reality.

That's fucking rich coming from an alt-right troll.

Per my understanding, it was kind of a Gatling gun moment. A labor-saving device in theory would reduce the amount required to sustain a given industry, and that was presumably the intent behind it (I'd need to check sources to confirm if this was ever actually on the inventor's mind though).

Then rich people gotta rich people and go "what if we use this to do more slavery but more profitably" and oops cotton is no longer a giant pain in the ass to utilize en masse so it becomes a cash crop.

As a Texan, all I can say is: Imagine all the problems we could've prevented if we'd forced Sherman (emphasis on forced, he famously had no interest in getting into a political career) to be in charge of the reconstruction. :P
