I know that you can get the other faction's blueprints once you reach Executive level in continuous play, but I'm pretty sure you can't do pure tech (unfortunately).

While as an eccentric scientist person we should keep the old adage "Knowledge is power" in mind, if we sell the documents for 2500 yollars we will have ~2900 yollars and can get:
  • 1 Basic Mining Module
  • 1 Education Attachment
  • 1 Genetic modifier update for our Cloning Module
  • 1 Lifeform analyser update for our Cloning Module
  • 1 Flora Analyser update for our Agriculture Module
for 2750 yollars, which will allow us to get a few blueprints with our remaining funds.

I knew I was forgetting something! Alright, can I replace my civil trait with something language related at this point?

My species:
Name: Singular - Reth, Plural - Retha, Adjective - Retha
Description: Robustly built quadripedal aquatic rodent about 1.3m tall, with a thick coat of brown-grey fur.
Breeding Factor: 2 (for 3 EP)
Population Multiplier: 1.25 (but strictly speaking you didn't forbid zero or a complex number for this :P)
Physiological traits:
Limbs 6:12EP
A Reth has four legs which allow it to move quickly on land and in water. It also is capable of standing up on its rear legs, but cannot move quickly or effectively while it is doing so. The front paws also double as somewhat dextrous hands, so the Retha can interact with their environment in an advanced fashion.
Fur coat 4:6EP
A Reth has a fur coat which mostly protects the Reth from losing too much heat to the surroundings (especially in aquatic environments). It also protects the Reth from blunt-force trauma, to a moderate extent.
Keen vision 6:12EP
While somewhat lacking in colour vision, Retha vision is rather good, especially in low-light conditions.
Acute hearing 6:12EP
The Retha have rather good hearing, and a good capacity to determine the direction of sound sources.
Extended Underwater Capability* 4:6EP
A Reth can stay underwater for a considerable amount of time
Civil traits:
Communication 3:4EP
The Retha languages are relatively complex, but a bit lacking in their ability to describe abstract ideas.
Technologies: None currently
Supernatural traits: None currently
Alright, this uses all 55EP. Is it good?
* - I can't think of better names for these traits because it's 1 am here.

I think that we should get:
  • at least one Donnie's Digger
  • at least two Handheld Communicators
  • and an Omnicorp Basic Smelter
which will cost us 680 yollars. We can afford this if we sell 1 plumpet sheet, 10 of our smoked meat, two of our basic clones and somehow get 20 more yollars from somewhere.

So Wimdit, can I ask a few questions:
  • Can you give a reasonably complete list of abilities that species are considered to start off with?
  • If you don't feel up to doing the above for physiological traits, can you tell us what civil traits a species is considered to start off with?
  • If I want to make a sentient species, do I need to give it civil and/or technological traits now?

1552
I think I'll join as well. I think I will use the species I made for RabbidHare's game, if that's alright with you (Incidentally, I had a brainfart and gave the Retha 55EP, but you seem to be alright with that).

What version of EU3 are you playing? Because I remember not being able to get personal unions in IN without a royal marriage.

Well, we need 500 yollars to get our mining module, but I think we should contact Omicorp regarding the modules they are selling.

Not only that, but it says on the download page that Shores of Hazeron requires OpenAL, and gives a download link for it. On a somewhat related note, I was playing this a few months ago, but got bored and abandoned my empire. Can anyone who is currently playing the game tell me if it's a good time to get back in?

I believe that The Scout is referring to AI rebellions in this case.

Actually, I just realised that the colony ship isn't offering any fabrication modules for sale. Is this supposed to happen?

I think that we should cut down the trees immediately adjacent to our fence. (also, how quickly can we cut them down and turn them into sheets?)

Actually, while I too believe we should try to trade with the colony ship, would it be possible (however time-consuming) to make the advanced technologies ourselves?
