This is awesome, and spares some infuriating micromanaging required to train armor user in danger rooms- weapons and shield level up way too fast there, blocking hits that would level up armor. Yes, I know it could be done with a shieldless weaponless uniform, but it would increase the risk of dwarves not properly equipping their final uniform.

It's more fun if you just use garbage from the last siege, and a few Xsheep wool sockX. Maybe even zombies if you include bodies in that garbage and have a necromancer on hand, just take care not to exceed the bridge's weight allowance.

Indeed. I discovered the same when I set up a multi-level archery range, with a retracting bridge on the same level as the fortifications. A goblin's iron helmet "shot and killed" by Captain of the Guard.

They don't. I believe this starts when they reach Great in a weapon skill (or Wrestling), and become Elites.

I believe Grates and Hatches can be lit on fire. Now, would caravans treat those as valid floorspace? I know invaders would, though their buildingdestroyers would try and destroy them too, and they'd do so from 1 tile away- would they still burn?

Hmm that would require me to send a mining/woodcutting expedition to clear the exits, other than gremlins what other creatures 'lurk'?

Good to hear that. So, next version, will I be able to start a dwarf adventurer, become a vampire through drinking one's blood without editing the interaction, dig down to cavern layer 3, mine blue stuff, extract strands, cut down and burn some trees for charcoal, smelt adamantine wafers, somehow make an anvil and build a forge, and make my own *adamantine dwarven plate armor* and *full helmet*?

Random idea, inspired by a mindfuck present even in vanilla: why are chain lower body armors [SHAPED]? Layering plate armor over chainmail is done on the upper body with no such issues.
trousers-chain mail leggings-greaves sounds more realistic than
trousers-trousers-greaves OR trousers-trousers-chain mail leggings.

Also, I'm a bit confused. Did anyone succeed at becoming a vampire, lamia or demoniac by consuming one's blood, without editing their interactions in the raws? They call for a generic and nonexistent vampire curse when blood is ingested.

And a stray idea (tame): why not give military caste dwarves some minor natural skill, like novice wrestling? They'd bitch less about being conscripted.

Bridge-drop won't work against a demon. The bridge won't operate when under him. Supports, on the other hand, allow you to drop a whole piece of constructed floor he's on.

However, the clothier's workshop menu doesn't offer metal clothing, only cloth, silk and yarn. The weaver's offered inorganic thread which took care of the adamantine strands...
