DF Bug Reports / Re: bug when trading forbidden goods to elves
« on: November 12, 2007, 02:43:00 pm »
on that same note, I had na elcen 'caravan' arrive my first summer in the late summer, and then my dwarven caravan arrived as usual. However, the elves never got as far as my depot before the dwarves showed up and they never stopped or traded.

If this is a bug, it actually seems to me to be a reasonable feature, wooden items damaged by use.

from here

For example, direct reduction with carbon is not economically viable, since aluminium oxide has a melting point of about 2,000 °C
Edit: for clarity, magma has temperatures extending up to 2000 °F or so.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Trader-crash
« on: November 22, 2007, 08:54:00 am »
I just did it last night, but the trader never counter-offered, he told me several times that my offer was not enough (no counter-offer), so I upped it by about 30% and then when I traded, it crashed. 33b no mods

edit: no save close to trade time, sorry.

DF Bug Reports / Re: "Damp stone located" message doesn't always a

I'd like to see the damp stone warning when digging up as well. nothing breaks a fort quite like accidentally piercing the aquifer from below.

yes, I noted this one as well. I call it Red light Green light syndrome. Turn on dwarves inside and make statues of anyone caught outside. Turn it off and watch them run.

I hjavn't tried to see if this is repeatable yet, or if it was a one-time glitch, but I started a new fortress, and noting that I has giant eagles in the viscinity, I ordered all dwarves inside for safety. And everyone not already inside played statue until I allowed dwarves to go outside again. Once my statues unfroze I tried again and again, 4 little dwarves stood stock still, while the 2 miners and one dwarf pho had wandered inside continued to go about as though nothing had changed.

DF Bug Reports / Brook tiles issue
« on: January 10, 2008, 08:36:00 pm »
Knowing that channeled brook tiles create stones, I was testing to see if dropping a chunk of brook tiles would restrict the flow of the local river. Apparently in fixing the perma-flood issue with brook tiles not accepting water from pumps, something broke. now I have essentially a hole in my brook where the brook tiles fell in becoming a 'muddy brook' tile, and sucking up the water of the whole brook. Apparently even after being dropped loose, brook tiles are now an infinite sink, similar to an aquifer. Should be readily reproducible.

Actually, after it fell, it was as though reveal had been run on it. I could see all the stone through the whole chunk.

DF Bug Reports / cave-in. bug?
« on: December 05, 2007, 12:41:00 pm »
I was playing with cave-ins the other day and noticed something interesting, but I'm not sure that it's a bug. I had not played with them before so if I'm pointing out the obvious, tell me.

Wne I dropped a chunk of stone to see what condition stone is in after being dropped. I found of course that the stone drops into place whole. But here's where the bug question comes in.. an ore vein in the chunk I dropped disapeared. Is that normal, a bug, or just something due to the incomplete nature of caveins?

Anytime I've paid attention, the cold was at the bottom. I just assumed that was how the worldgen was setup. Never really thought about it after the first time. The world map on the screenshots page is the same way.
