Forum Games and Roleplaying / List the category! - 1 matched
« on: January 08, 2012, 07:13:31 pm »
A simple concept most of you should have heard of - giving n number of x category.

Although there is absolutely no way to enforce the rules of 'no searching', I hope everyone doesn't: I hope to find the limits of the collective intelligence of Bay12's RP forums.

What everyone does is answer as many from each category as they can!
When most of the categories are done, I'll make up a number of new ones.

To start off, name the following!

x5 group
  Cannon types Done!
  Wagon types
  Apple types
Five brands of fish food (adwarf)

x10 group
  Inorganic molecules
  Organic molecules

x20
  Fish
  Vegetables -> 7 done
  Wooden ship types
  Modern ship types

x50
Elements (as in oxygen, hydrogen) -> 17 done

I'll help too: I don't know the answers, see >.>

Welcome, tribute! You were Reaped for the seventy-seventh annual Hunger Games! Although your name has been noted, it would be best if you write down a simple introduction for your post-reaping interview.

After your interview, you will have a chance to learn some skills in the Training Center, before entering the Arena.

Oh, yes, there should be about 4~6 players. The rest would be AIs. :P

This is a new C@W style game. Set in the start of the Great Age of Sail on an Earth-like, yet different, planet. You start with tiny vasas and dhows to plow the sea, and hopefully by the end of the game you will command great ships-of-the-line, large galleons and even flying fortresses and become the Sovereign of the Sea.

The focus of this game is on naval and secondarily aerial battles. Land units will mostly be either AA or used to siege and capture colonies from the enemy. Approx. 6~8 players will be accepted.

Thanks to one person that starts with an 'a' and ends with a 'dwarf', I was able to prune everything unneeded and publish a version with core functions and am planning to edit unbalanced values and add, edit out and do all the stuff you would expect an alpha game to do. I am borrowing most of the way this is organized from the current C@W : Hyper edition thread with permission from USEC.

The attacker is in orange, and the defender in green. If it is 'strong', 50% extra to attack. Weak is 50% penalty. 0 means that the attacker deals 0 damage.

This is another story set in the Mabinogi/Mabinogion world.

On the night of a certain Samhain (Sunday) at midnight, there were reports of Fomorians escaping from Koil Dungeon. Everyone assumed that only weak ones like goblins or kobolds were attacking and did not pay attention until it was too late. A large scale attack was under progress, and civilians were cut down left and right far before the local guards and the paladins of Morrigan were able to respond. The monsters that escaped were not the kind to be fettered by a bunch of farmers holding pitchforks...

*image from Mabinogi

You wake up from a bad dream, in which everything you held dear was burning, letting off clouds of black smoke and accompanied by the acrid smell of charred flesh. Except that the smell was real. Very real.
You go to the windowsill, and see houses burning, smoke rising, people running and soldiers marching. You see a woman who is mercilessly cut down by a black-clad warrior, an old man with a sword exchanging blows with another black soldier, a small band of guards running across the plaza, and one of your friends tripping and falling, pursuited by an ogre.  You close the curtains again.

Slumping down on the wall, you try to recollect your thoughts and break out of the sleep-induced stupor. Who are you?

(1) What is your name?
(2) What gender are you?
(3) How old are you?
(4) Are you physically strong, or are you more of a thinker?

(5) What are you going to do?

: Gnome 0 units of time, 81082 swaps made.

50000 numbers : Bubble 94.22 units of time, 626088997 swaps made.
Gnome 0.16 units of time, 524102 swaps made.

100000 numbers : Bubble 380.88 units of time, -1802926064 swaps made?

Another stab at creating & running a RP!

I present:

The Mabinogion
------------------------------------------
Loosely based on the game Mabinogi.
OOC thread : Here

Spoiler: Map! (click to show/hide)

Intro:

In the northern part of southern Britain Erin, there was a town named Tir Chonale.
Tir Chonale is an agricultural town, with a clear stream, the Adelia and located in a small basin. There are two minor dungeons near, Albi and Kiar, and the only road out of the basin is via the road leading to Dugald Alley. Even norther is only Sid Snetha, a wintery wasteland.

Unbeknownst to the people of Tir Chonale (or to anyone. for that matter), five different people were chosen, marked, by the gods with excellence.

The five people were -

Mana - Mana, the force that allows you to unleash your deadly mana-ness on your enemies. It slowly recharges over night, when the Eweka (the blue moon) is up.
Stamina - This is consumed by actions such as fighting, crafting and playing dead. It recharges slowly, unless...
Hunger - Hunger is represented as a percentage of your stamina. Your stamina is restricted by your hunger.

Toughness - This affects your HP and defense.
Intelligence - This affects your magic attack and defense.
Dexterity - This affects your ranged attacks, your critical attacks and your crafting skills.
Will - The more Will you have, the harder you are to kill.
Luck - Luck.

Each person can pick one of the god's blessings. Five people may play in this RP :3

Everyone starts with a basic set of garb, to be announced.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Death of a Salesman
« on: December 17, 2011, 12:55:41 pm »
Yawo Caverenelo looked down his nose at the dwarven broker in disdain. Why ? Of the 500 urists of goods, there was the tiny glint of a poor, brutally slaughtered oaken earring!
"One a beautiful tree, and now a bauble fit for only your kind! I shall not trade with your barbarian kin!"
He signaled to his companion,  Lali Thilurini, and they both started to pack their goods.
The dwarf, Thob Kosothkubuk Palacelances smilied eerily.
"Indeed, good elf. It is our grievous mistake, and I assure you you will never see this happen again."

Yawo nodded grimly, still somewhat dizzy from the anger of a tree-corpse lying there. Never mind the fact that the earring was actually elven and were from last year's caravan that fell prey to two packs of dark stranglers.

Thob Kosothkubuk, still with his eerie smile, added:
"Have a nice trip, and do come next year."

Still not noticing anything, the two elves turned their pack horses and headed back out the muddy entrance. They stepped over some useless looking bridges ("Why did they build a bunch of bridges uselessly?" They were even made of MAPLE! The atrocity!) and glanced at a mudstone fortification, which was blocked by a gabbro contraption. A rumbling sound was heard...

and two bridges closed with a final slam.

"By the gods!"

Another grinding was heard, and the gabbro things slid into the ground. Water coursed into the muddy corridor - it was now evident that the muddiness was because of the many uses.
The words of the broker was heard like an echo ... "never see this happen again..."

With one last gasp of water, the two elves died along with their horses.

I use that flooding room both for defense against the Fortress Defense enemies AND to kill all elves that dislike my choice of wooden trades goods.

My stab at a space suggestion RP! :-> The setting is my view of space, and may or may not include the Commonwealth saga as some of it.

A reboot, because I think I made a mistake when making this...

Also, anyone is welcome to RP one character.

Your small ship and its crew were traveling FTL on a delivery when something caused it to veer off the route and spin into the empty intersystem space. Suddenly, the gravity bubble loses cohesion and you are thrown into realtime at half the speed of light. Many winces are shared as the merest hydrogen particle slams and deals huge punishment to your deflecters. The sub-light arresters fire and slowly deaccelerate you , if only to prevent your ship and its mates from slamming into something bigger than a molecule and being rendered into a considerably less substantial version of yourselves.
Then, your ship shudders at it nudges a huge body of mass in front of you. One of the crew identifies it as a Interdictor mesh - a enormous framework laced with gravity similators and capable of preventing something from escaping... or popping a gravity bubble.
Inside the mesh is what clearly seems to be a military-grade ship. It is consisted of two large spheres, one bigger than the other, and a array of thin metal planks span out radially from where the two spheres meet. It is unlike any other ship you've seen, and as a added effect doesn't seem aerodynamic at all.
Hailing the ship doesn't get a respond, nor does she have a transcoder.
Being the opportunistic folks you are, you board and relieve the ship of its literal skeleton crew and start taking inventory.

The ship is mostly intact and does not have much in the way of comfort.
Judgin by the specs, it has a impressive capability to attack, thick armor, large deflectors and even a shield, quite a rarity indeed. But it seems the shield is lacking a number of key componants right now.

Ship : [no-name]
Deflectors: Slightly dented but the better for wear.
Armor: In pristine state.
Shield: Offline

Spoiler: Ship status (click to show/hide)

What shall you do? What will you name your new ship? Should you take inventory of the ship more carefully, in case there are overlooked supplies? How will you get to your planned route, since you were on a delivery? Do you prefer defense or defence? Would you destroy the mesh and blast your way to freedom, or risk trying to salvage and perhaps deploy the mesh in the future? Space awaits!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / On the topic of community forts & a boat!
« on: November 10, 2011, 08:45:46 pm »
Well, I've had a passion in both DF and a game called the Age of Sail. I just loved the many sailboats (though they were from all ages :P -- the 19th century clipper sailed along with the BC galleys), and I think I saw somewhere of a "ship" fort. I want to make a similar fort, except with the "swan song" of sailboats-the clipper!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Since I can't actually float the "ship", I'll be doing it as the other fort did, and use on pillar. I will actually have two forts next to each other, with one the boat and the other "ports of call". However, I don't have much experience in any community forts/successions, and I believe myself to play softly...... anyways, could anyone offer some help? Perhaps in how to run the community/succession fort? The world is genning as I type (oh, it's done).
