The wagon turns to the left, Milly doing her best to avoid a flock of blobs in the middle of the road. The blobs hop aside, parting like water before a ship, beady eyes following the carriage with a chorus of quiet "waos" at the carriage.

Eventually, Milly pulls up towards the Adventurers' Guild building, some signs for Burger Lord and some other local franchises being propped out at the front with a bunch of blobs gnawing on the Burger Lord's wooden burger. Near the stairs leading to the front of the Guild, Kazuto seems to be playing with a blob, patting him on the head and feeding him an apple. He waves at the approaching party.

"We're h-here, guys."
"Taking the scenic route, huh? Can't blame ya. These little dudes are pretty cute. The rest of the crew's inside, checking over commissions to see if there's anything to even do around here."

Lowell dives to the side, barely avoiding an early, scorching end. He pulls himself to his feet, sneering.
"Hmph. All business. Well."

He dusts himself off.
"All this bluster for what? Hm? You Warriors couldn't do the one thing I needed you to do. You have been utter and complete pains in my ass for the entire night! Can't you Warriors do one thing for me, do me one favor, and roll over and give up?!"
"Roach. Get help."
"R-right!"

Roach scrabbles to his feet and flees down the road, as the assembled opponents of the Warriors approach.

"Fine. I'll do it myself. You Warriors had to get in the way of my ticket to the throne of this city's underworld, and for THAT, I won't stand any longer. Get' em."

Chapter Seven: Bouncing Blob Bonanza

~~Chapter Theme~~
~~Present Day~~
The scene: The streets of Boingberg, the capital of Blobbonia. The notoriously quiet kingdom is generally populated by a majority of blobs, small, slime-like creatures that do absolutely nothing but eat, sleep, bounce and stack on everything within the general vicinity. The remaining population are the humans, elves, goblins and other races that have moved into the place, effectively being adopted by the blobs as caretakers, guardians and occasional stacking posts. The kingdom is quiet most of the year, except for the two-week annual Blobbon Festival, where blobs and other races alike are allowed to feast to their heart's content on the streets of every settlement in the kingdom. Our heroes intend to earn their Blobbonia Emblem, and make a swift journey into the neighboring kingdom of Kaisei.

At least, that is what our heroes intend to do. In reality, our heroes have arrived in the calm after the storm, a saying which here means "in the middle of a town full of blobs, humans and blobs stacking on humans". While our heroes see a far more idyllic surface, what secrets lurk behind the facade of Blobbonia may surprise our heroes indeed....

"So. This is the kingdom my sister Gaia rules over....

Serena sits at the front of Milly's wagon, peering around. Sir Blobbington sat in Serena's lap calmly, beady eyes taking in the sights of his homeland.

The Jasmine Efreeti was moored just outside the city, Sitri sitting back to guard it. Kazuto's team was supposed to meet them in the middle of town shortly. Blobbonian architecture was something to behold. Mostly consisting of domes resembling the inhabitants of the kingdom, Boingberg's buildings were packed with blobs bouncing about, eating their way through tasty morsels they found untended to. The streets were being gently sweeped by cleaners, each with a pair of blobs scanning the ground eagerly for abandoned apple cores, and most of the houses along the streets had small, elevated domes from the ground, the occasional blob peering out of one with a slice of plakia hanging from its mouth. Lamps, signs and streamers were being hung all over the street to celebrate the Blobbon Festival.

"E-everyone, we'll be arriving at the market square soon. The Adventurer's Guild is that way, so we can s-see if we can find anything to do."
//Everyone may post.

Rin stands her ground against Kaori and Kazuki.
"Lives are at s-stake right now. If I don't help these people, I can't be okay with that. I know the risks. I....I didn't come here to turn someone in need down."
"You don't know us, lady. Look, take your friend's advice and just-"
"Please, don't treat me like I'm weak. I....I can fight for myself if it means helping others. I have to."

Her eyes drifted to the Mare Gnosis on her obi, a pensive look briefly appearing on her face, then back to Kaori. She smiled, to reassure her friend.

"Besides, we're Mizuno apothecaries. Isn't this what we trained for, to help other people? We won't take long."

Then she turns to Traxesa.

"U-um...well, I'm not really a miko. I'm an apothecary. Please, call me Rin."

Alice looks at Homura and at Nullstar. A twinkle appears in her eye, the type that generally appears in the eyes of drunk men about to do something incredibly stupid, or heroes about to do something incredibly brash.
"Maybe we should have a look. I got a real gut feeling about this scoop."

As Roach goes to open the door, a fireball smashes into the door, knocking Roach back.

"Ah!"

He scrabbles away from the door on the cobbles of the road. The Warriors are suddenly keenly aware of the fact that they are slowly being surrounded. Indeed, the street around them begins to fill with members of gangs and  guilds alike; the Asher Street Rogues, the Hood Street Runners, the Messiahs, the Orphans and even more.

"You Warriors have really been a massive pain in my ass."

A black-haired man in glasses stands before the Warriors, protected by several large, well-armored bodyguards.
"Lowell. You bastard!"
"Surprised? Well, you know what they say. If you can't get someone to do something, get it done yourself. And I can't even trust you damn Chiefs to fight the Warriors."

1162
The pimply-faced youth tosses Kazuto and Keith a badge resembling a cartoon heart, half pink and half white.
"Here's your badges. T-thanks!"

He sprints off.
The party has attained the Midgardia Emblem.
"Right. Cool. Okay....so. We'll get our crew ready and....I guess we meet you later?"

Borea, meanwhile, is taken aside by Serena.
"Yeah, sis, what is it you wanted?"
"...good job."
"Is that all you wanted to say?"
".....d-don't let our sisters get you down, sis. I...well, I'm happy to help you, we're all happy to help, but...."
"Shut up already."
"Huh?"
"I appreciate the compliment. Thank you. But...."

Serena looks back over at Team F.
"They did the good job. Not me."
"...I have to be a better goddess for them. They've carried me so far and....they stood up for me against our sisters. You know how long it's been since anyone did that for me?"
"I can't stand aside. From now on, I'll....do my best for them too. Even if they are still mortals. N-not that I care that much about them."

Borea simply gives her sister a headpat.
"....you've grown up a little on Generia, sister. I'm proud."
Serena promotes to Water Goddess.
Stats updated.

Meanwhile, in Ultima Fortress...
"It would seem that the godlings have reunited."
Mammon sighed, as he, Leviathan and Mephistopheles watched Team F's victory over Great Grandee in Midgardia. He looked over at his commander.

"We will need to move quickly. The others have disappeared, and I can feel the barrier weakening. That godling and her heroes....they're getting stronger."
"We must be prudent about this, my love. I don't want you to get hurt."
"These mortals....if they even knew half of what we knew, surely-"
"Enough."

Mammon and Leviathan looked over at the Demon Lord.

"....we're out of options. Leviathan, do you still have your connections in Kaisei?"
"Yes, my lord."
"Make sure we can use them. Mammon....ready your forces."
"My lord?"
"Locate Beelzebub in Blobbonia. If we can get to them before the godling and her forces, we may still yet have a chance against these mortals. Now go."

Mammon and Leviathan shared a look, and then left the presence of Mephistopheles. The Demon Lord closed his eyes, sighing.

"...what must be done will be done."

He took a stroll into a side chamber. This chamber was locked away from all of the other Demon Generals; nobody, save him, was permitted to walk inside. It was a lonely chamber, hewn from dark stone and lit by jagged metal braziers. The only thing in the middle of the room was a lonely, golden casket, the top made of glass.

He stood back from it, before genuflecting. His voice shook as he spoke.
"...as the greater will of Hellrealm dictates. For you, Master Demogorgia, we will continue the war against the mortals."

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Generia...
"....I see. So that's how it is."

Team F's victory against Great Grandee played out on the crystal tablet before her. Her house was sparsely decorated, but tastefully so; black and gold, the colors of her domain, the symbols of her domain over earth and wealth. Orderly, well-crafted and put-together.

Unlike her sisters.

"...I can't see Discordia anymore. It seems my sisters are really trying to make things harder, aren't they?"

She stood up, picking up her favored lance, a simple affair, made of gold and black iron, a symbol of her authority. Walking over to a window, she overlooked the world outside.

"...those are unfair odds to put Serena under. I've sat out long enough. I left for a reason, but...."

Rhea Harmonia Genesia, Goddess of Order, Earth and Contracts, looked over the plains of Blobbonia.
"...don't worry, my sisters. I'm coming home."

Chapter 3: Blazing Hearts

Every year, the Solrise Academy Intra-Class Exhibition Tournament is held in the middle of the year. The first such tournaments were held in the days when the academy was a more military institution, and were affairs meant to arouse competitive spirit in Elerian Order initiates to encourage the development of their skills. As time passed, and the Academy became more open to the public and civilians, spectators from outside were allowed to witness the fights. As the Elerian Order became more dependent on civilian funding, the fights became less about skill development and more about showing off the talents of the students, in order to attract funding and more potential students to the academies. Nowadays, the Exhibition Tournament is a great tourist attraction for the city of Barminster, and the Academy itself; every year, for a few weeks while the Tournament is active, the campus is open to students from abroad and the public alike. The only other time the Academy campus is equally as open is during the traditional Winter Ball, where students from other Elerian Academies are invited to a celebration of the Academy's founding.

For now, of course, the Tournament is far more concerning.

It's about ten thirty in the morning, and the campus is buzzing with activity.

The first year students are putting up stalls to sell refreshments, Professor Ramsay having deployed some odd little Automata to help carry products and materials to the stalls. Professor Ververs can be seen guiding a group of students from Starfell Academy around the area, showing the campus off. Joel and Himiko walk past, happily talking to each other about what they'll do after their fight is over. And right now, you're waiting for the announcements of the seeding for the tournament; as this year, there are only three combat classes in the third year, the tournament will be fought in a round-robin style, with each class fighting each other and the winning class winning the most fights.

This year, you're well aware of the chatter about this year's fights. After all, this year has some amazing students. Between Felix, Theodora, Orrel, Reeve, Christine and the new girl Isabeau, a small but rapidly expanding betting ring has begun taking money to see who wins.

Professor Estelle approaches the class, another student in tow.
"Ah. There you are. Just to inform you, we're taking another student on from the General Course. Ricardo Rosseau. I know this is rather short notice, but....the paperwork was only recently completed to finish his transfer. Please, treat him well."

The sidequests 'Cats at Play' and 'Love is War: Epilogue' are complete.
Class 3-F receives 2500 thalers and an Alphinite Ring.
Ricardo has joined the class and may post.

Rin stares at Setsurou again, trying to process what he just said.
"So the legend is real....the Juunishi really are...."
She stares at Yusuke for a moment, as if recognising him. Then she stares back at Setsurou determinedly.
".....yes. I'll help you."
"What? Are you crazy? No, don't get involved. You don't need to-"
"I want to. I...when we get out of here, I'll explain."

1165
The asssasin simply spits on the ground with a hiss.
"Go to hell. I won't talk. The Hiruma Clan are not traitors."

That rings a bell. The Hiruma Clan are considered only second in the land to the shinobi of the Yugen Clan, and have a reputation for being used to assassinate nobles and the like. For a clan like that to be involved with Rin means something deeper afoot is going on. Of course, they have a reputation for discretion, so not even torture is going to get that information out of them. The best solution is likely to knock her out and leave her for the authorities to arrest.

Rin stares at Setsurou.
"Wait. The Cat....the Empress...."
Her eyes widen.
"Y-you're...you're one of the....Juunishi, right? I thought that was just a bed-time story!"
"Wanna do the honors of explaining, Setsurou? Since I'm pretty sure she'll take the serious-looking ninja seriously over the cat currently dangling a few feet off the ground."

1166
The shock of having a talking cat slash them across the face leaves the would-be assassin open to being tackled by Kazuki and restrained. In the process of doing so, Kazuki picks up on a few things.

Firstly, the "beggar" looks a lot cleaner than a normal beggar, something that Rin likely would have picked up on had they given her the time. Secondly, that knife on the ground is no rusty two-bit piece of ironworks; it looks to be quality metalwork, as if specially commissioned. Thirdly, something was knocked to the ground in the struggle, appearing to be the personal seal of someone. If it's a noble clan, it's not one Kazuki has ever seen before, and it definitely has nothing to do with the easily-recognisable Imperial Seal.

Rin picks up "Yuya", eyeing him up and down.
"You can talk."
"I guess I can't lie anymore, huh? Yes, yes I can."
"Does your owner know?"
"Yes he does."
"Well....this isn't the weirdest thing that's happened to me ever, so....I guess...thanks for saving me, little Yuya. You're a cute little-"
"I am not cute. Please, do not call me cute."

1167
Daisuke and Madoka end up at a side door leading to an outdoor, fenced area to the side of the eatery. Though there are tables and charis outside, the place is open enough for a duel.

Todoroki leans on a pillar holding up the roof's overhang, arms crossed.
"This should be interesting."

Kazuki and Setsurou's eyes on the hooded figure, of course, distract them from a beggar approaching Rin. They look to be a young girl no older than Rin herself, slightly younger, even.

"Miss, do you have money to spare?"
"Oh, um....I'm sorry, but-"

A flicker of metal is the only warning Rin gets, as a knife surges towards her gut, Kazuki being just too slow to intervene-
"The hell you will!"

Setsurou feels Yusuke pounce from his arms, his little paws swiping across the beggar's face. The beggar drops their knife, screaming and covering their wounded face as Yusuke places himself between Rin and them, hissing.

Rin, for her part, stands back shocked, not quite having processed what happened, until she notices the knife having clattered on the cobbles, and "Yuya" having leapt to her defense.
"Is....that's...did your cat just talk?"
"Shit."

1168
"Mind if I tag along and watch, Madoka? I gotta see this."

The guards, for their part, hold their ground, not advancing, but not backing off either.

"As soldiers of the Empress, we cannot retreat! Even if you wield a Gnosis, our orders are clear!"

Rin follows along with Kazuki, Setsurou carrying Yusuke, and Traxesa, passing by a pair of guards searching the tables as they leave the bar and walk onto the porch. Completely oblivious to everything else, Rin turns to Setsurou.
"It's pretty crazy today. So....how long have you had Yuya? I, uh, I really like cats, and I wished I'd had one as a pet, but, well, the Mizuno pharmacy doesn't let you keep pets in their dormitories, so....eheh. Sorry if I'm babbling. I'm babbling, aren't I?"

Kazuki and Setsurou, past all of the guards, of course, notice a cloaked, hooded figure standing in a nearby alleyway, seemingly minding their own business. Though their eyes aren't visible, you can tell they've got an eye on...Rin?

1169
"....wait, what? Seriously? Murder? Bounty? We need to get the Boss involved. Hell, you guys get in. I'll open the door."
Roach fumbles with the keys to open the door as the party gets closer.

1170
"Ah!"
Roach jumps, almost dropping his guildhouse keys as he sees the Warriors approaching. He scrabbles to grab his sword before realising who, it was, he was about to stab.
"....damn. Turncoat? Big Blue? Lucy? Nico? Didn't the Boss say you'd be back last night? I was up until two waiting to close the guildhouse for you guys. Where have you been?"
