Justice doesn't even grace him with a look back.

The villagers, for their part, are being escorted to safety by the two Order troops who had greeted you earlier.

"...nobody got hurt, huh? Good. It was supposed to be just us here."

Justice fixes Kruger with a glare.

"Call me whatever you like, Wallhaim. It's always the same story, isn't it? You people in your high and mighty posts, get to talk like you care about us down here because you're safe. And then when people snap and break under it all because you don't really care, you call them Fiends and cast them out because it doesn't fit your story. Volskaya, Cuauila, Huraw...always the same story. The Order messes up, the people are left with nothing and the world forgets after the Order offers some bad apology and sweeps it all under the rug, that we're still here, we still lost everything and we got nothing for it."

The mysterious, pink-haired lady and Katarina both stiffen momentarily.

To those more aware of the Order incidents, however, Volskaya seems to be the one that sticks out. Cualila and Huraw, however, don't seem to ring any bells.

"That's who the Seekers of Calamity are. We are those that the Order abandoned, failed to protect. Who the Order robbed and swept beneath. We became sick of being forgotten and we wanted recompense."

Orrel's fist smashes itself into Justice's face, surprising and catching the Seeker off guard; he hadn't expected Orrel to close the distance between him and Justice, given that Justice was flying.

However, the winged Seeker retaliates with not a slash of his sword, but, surprisingly, a kick to Orrel's face. However, in his state, Orrel is barely in any condition to fight and gets the wind knocked out of him.

This leaves him open, however, to Astrea.

Astrea's initial charge smashes Justice off balance, her pegasus allowing her to match him on his ground of choice. Justice, again without using his blade, twirls in the air to smash his leg into the pegasus rider's face, almost knocking her off her mount.

"You may be right, girl. Perhaps you are. But you and your Order have left me-"

Instead of letting him finish, however, Astrea simply rushes him again. This time, her javelin clips his wing, knocking him to the ground hard. He wipes his mouth, dirtied with earth and blood. Trying to pull himself to his feet, it's clear he probably broke something, evidenced by the wince on his face. He sighs, his expression somewhere between exasperated and impressed.

He lets go of his sword, raising his hands to show he has no weapons hidden.
"....ugh.....good fight. You win. I yield as promised."

"....perhaps. It is not as easy as you think to leave the Seekers. But....I cannot turn away from my pursuit of justice against the Order. They must be made to answer for their crimes, maybe as much as we will for ours. If we are wrong about our methods, then find the truth your own way. This I trust to you."

"To ally with the devil was the only way I was ever given to seek justice, because all other ways were closed to me. To leave the service of the devil is no easy feat. Give me a fight, and I shall give you your answers and surrender to you. My code dictates no less."

He raises his sword, more solemnly this time.

"But know that I, Justice of the Seekers of Calamity, will not yield easily."

Justice, for a moment, seems to briefly consider Orrel's words. The absence of Obedience, it seems, seems to have them less on edge than they were previously.

"In another world, Sokolov, you and I would be good friends. The Order has robbed us both with its lies. No matter what you may believe, I did not come here with the intent to get innocent people hurt. I speak not for the others but my quarrel is with the Order alone. We deserve answers, you and I."

Then Lin speaks, and Justice seems less inclined to back down.

"And you claim to speak for us all? The Seekers are made of those whose feelings have been neglected and ignored by your Order! We are driven to extremes because people like you have ignored us and treated our plight as nothing to be cast aside for the greater good! No longer! We will be heard or we will pronounce our message from the fallen ruins of the Order!"

His sword is set ablaze, burning as hot as the fury in his voice, steam emerging from it as Kaya's rain continues to fall.

"....this isn't right. I understand, but...."

Meanwhile, Astrea subdues the remaining Seeker beneath Justice's command.

Orrel wastes no time throwing his fans at the armored tyrant, shimmering with the energy of Crystallurgic power surging through them. Orrel notices, however, that Obedience doesn't seem to be particularly fussed about fighting them. He can't sense the use of an Arte in any way, nor is his opponent particularly posing to take him on. They sound more uninterested than anything.

"It seems the young pup is stronger than I'd anticipated. Fine. Justice, I leave this to you."

With a swing of their Alphinite wand, Obedience lobs another burst of magic at Orrel. Orrel deftly evades the shot, but when he next sets eyes on the spot Obedience was standing, the Seeker has disappeared, leaving Justice behind.

Chapter 5: Starlight Legend

In Ishim City, there are three adventuring guilds considered the strongest.

The first were the Heavenly Emperors, the most powerful fighters in all of Generia. Nobody held a candle to their strength, given their meteoric rise in the ranks. However, given their immense strength and power, they were usually never in town, fighting up at the front lines to break into Ultima Fortress. As such, they were rarely in Ishim City proper, leading to no shortage of imposters attempting to pretend to be them to those uninformed about the reality of the situation.

The second were the Wharf Street Warriors. Of them, little has to be said to explain their strength.

The third were the Starlight Soldiers. Consisting of only nine Revivians, the Soldiers were nonetheless possessed of great power. However, given that they were Revivians said to be following the traditions of some body called the "Sailor Soldiers", nobody really took them quite as seriously as they should. Regardless, the Starlight Soldiers, by those in the know, are considered strong enough to possibly face the Boss, or even, with all the luck, one of the Heavenly Emperors.

"Next station, Roux Street. This will be the final stop. Please make sure all your belongings are with you when you leave the tram."

The announcement breaks the silence that had set in over the tram over the last hour. A few delays had hit the tram, of course. The power had gone out across the lines earlier, locking you on the tram for about twenty minutes until the tram made its way again. This time, no Runners showed up to beset you.

It had been a long ride. About twenty minutes ago, the city walls had risen beside you, informing you that you'd left the outer districts and entered the city proper, putting you but one step closer to your home. The mysterious lady who'd saved you earlier had long since fallen asleep, her head resting gently on her companion's shoulder. Bel and Molly, as they'd made themselves known to you, seemed to have been returning home from a meeting of some sort, before they encountered you.

"Hey guys. I think we're here. You guys ready to get moving?"

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Ishim...
"Damn it!"
Lowell cast his crystal tablet aside, infuriated. He was sitting quietly in a hotel room in Pacifica District, overlooking Ishim Bay. It was a plain room; the Hood Street Runners weren't, after all, the richest gang in the city. Only a few Runners were inside with him, monitoring the entire situation, all of them studying their leader with trepidation.

Staying in the Runner's home base at Hood Street, after all, would be suicidal. He had picked a fight with the Warriors, the city's second strongest guild. He'd come after the Boss' sister. And he'd set an entire city's worth of gangs upon them.

And it was going horribly.
"Someone tell me some good news. Any good news. We had the Rogues come after them, nothing happened. We tried to sic some of the rowdiest hooligans we could find on them, nothing! What about the Annas? Do we know what happened to them?"
"No, sir. We were able to force an early cancelltion to their convention with the smoke bombs, but a few of our guys on the ground said a few of them checked their friends into a nearby hospital. Nobody saw any of the Warriors with them."
"What about the others? Where are they? They said they caught up to them on the tram. We need to make sure the Chiefs don't catch on. We need them on side for this."
"Negative. Some of our guys caught some seriously powerful magic on the tram. Whoever they ran into there, they weren't messing around."

Lowell rubbed his temples.

The Warriors were proving a lot harder to get rid of than they really should be, and it was starting to seriously get on his nerves. And now they likely had the Chiefs on their side, if they'd gotten out of the tram unhurt.

"Who do we still have on the ground? We're still getting people in position at Wharf Street. Anyone else?"
"The Haller Avenue Orphans, the Buck Street Furies and the Gramercy Messiahs want to claim the bounty on the Warriors. The other gangs are either asleep or told us they wanted no truck with the Warriors."
"The Orphans and the Furies? What do we have, amateurs? Goddess damn it. Okay, fine. The Messiahs are all we have until we can get everyone set up? Okay. Get me Oswald. The Runners looked between each other anxiously. Lowell glared at them.

".....our guys checked in at Mercy West Hospital. The only guy who could still move said some rabbit chick on a horse showed up and kicked all of their asses before bailing Cassius out. Nobody knows where they went. They said she looked like a Warrior."

At that, Lowell paled.

If Cassius was alive, he could make it back to the city. If he was being helped by a Warrior, the entire scheme was doomed. The Chiefs were the strongest gang in the city, almost on par with an adventurer guild. The rumours were that a good portion of them were adventurers themselves.

The Runners were finished if Cassius and his mysterious rescuer weren't dead by the end of the night.

Lowell reached for the beer. At this point, he was going to need it.
