Yes, because the resident cloudcuckoolander is somehow not going to be prone to some quirk or other.

Which leads back to the above point wherein everyone will likely have a different mental image of the fight, meaning some actions look like they should work to one person, but won't work from the perspective of another. Not necessarily. Like I said, a decent pair of RPers can work around that.
Still freeform's not something that gets consistently good results I'd say. There's always going to be questionable issues, because unless both people state every single last detail, even if they are being perfectly mature about it, some actions might work in one person's mental image of the scenario, but it won't work in the others.Or you could not overthink stuff and do it.
I mean, suppose you say "X punches Y in bodypart Z" but how? Could be anything from a weak ineffectual tap from someone inexperienced to something like a punch from boxing or Wing Chun. And still, there's more issues, say you choose the Wing Chun one ((since I actually know enough about that one to describe a punch in it)), how is it executed? An ideal one would be one with a perfectly relaxed arm, shoulders back and insanely fast with minimal telegraphing, the wrist only tensing right upon impact. And even that may or may not incorporate body rotation. And it has a specific optimal range, which needs to have been established. And chances are is that all it'll do is knock someone back because a lot of people think that's what a good punch do as opposed to what most martial arts punches seek to do which is to make a person crumple or something that keeps them well within range and vulnerable.
