".....s-sorry, I just, um....well, Demonology was what I did my thesis at the Academy on. So....I assume you guys know about the Demon Lord Mephistopheles and the Demon Generals, right? The Seven Generals? And then, obviously, there's the Eighth, the Betrayer, the General of Despair."
Milly shifts uncomfortably at that.
"So....Mephistopheles is the leader of the Demon Generals. We thought he'd always been, until....a couple of weeks back."
"Huh?"
"You see....we found this book in a dungeon a couple of weeks back while we were doing some stuff, along with some other books."
Fantine whips out a small series of three books, Fairy Tales of Eion, Volume 3, A History of Demons and Collected Tales from Ersht. She plucks out the second one, pointing at it.
"We figured this was just a fairy tale like the other two, but then....I actually read it, 'cuz, you know, I did Demonology as a thesis. And.....it wasn't a fairy tale at all. Whoever wrote this had some....insider knowledge, or was making something up. For one thing, it mentions a.....different Demon Lord. Not Mephistopheles, but someone before him."
"....t-that's not possible. Mephistopheles was the first."

As the day winds to a close, dates concluding and relaxation after the day's events, the party ends up meeting back up at the lobby.

It is, by this point, just past sunset in another day in Paradise. The night rush of gamblers is starting to file into the hotel, from reitred adventurers to naive Revivians wanting to make their luck at the machines in the Belleview. The attendants begin to put up signs advertising a convention of some sort within the next few weeks, one not of interest to the adventurers in the hotel.

Serena rubs the back of her neck, looking around.
"Man. This place has everything. It has a spa. A SPA. You mortals really have it done. But....well, we're still nowhere as close to finding out anything about whatever it is my sisters are up to. I think we should-"

"Well, well. The famous Team F."
Serena's train of thought is interrupted as a very....familiar group of adventurers almost bumps into Team F.

Kazuto grins.
"Fancy meeting you guys here. Seems like it's been a long while since we last met, huh? And I see you guys have some company now. Well, so do we."
"Hey, Rio."
"Team F in the flesh, huh? Damn. You ran with these guys, Kirishima?"
"Well, we were involved in that whole mess in Initia together. Yeah, I just happened to be passing through that time."

Serena, however, doesn't seem to be paying any attention to the rest of Kazuto's team. Her eyes are locked on the tall, voluptuous woman, green hair and dress, standing nearby.
".....sis?"

Chapter 2: Rite of Passage

Officially, the career of an Elerian Knight begins at acceptance in one of the Elerian Academies, spending several years learning the basics of being an Elerian Knight before entering the Order proper and learning the ropes from there. In practice, it is said that one only truly begins being an Elerian Knight when they complete their first ever field mission. The generally accepted rite of passage for such a mission is to kill your first live Fiend. It is in the heat of battle, in the face of genuine danger, many veterans argue, that the beginnings of a true Knight are forged.

In olden days, such an expedition would be an entire week's affair. Rations for a week would be packed to march prospective trainees to Fiend-infested areas to ensure they were cleared out, letters would be left behind in the event of unfortunate accidents. With the advent of airships, better medical care and the like, however, an expedition to nearby Fiend-infested areas now might be simply the work of a single day. The advances in Alphinite-based technology have made such expeditions safer and faster, but no less an important step to becoming an Elerian Knight.
The capital of York rapidly disappears in the clouds behind you, Solrise Academy nowhere to be seen below.

Classes 3-A, 3-C and 3-F are currently onboard the airship Galla Maria, an old airship belonging to the Order on loan to the Academy. Such transport ships remain an important staple of Elerian Order mobilization where weather permits. The ship is large enough to possess a small hangar of sorts to allow animals to be carried onboard, as well as multiple briefing rooms and an armory and kitchen. The decor is spartan, with only the Elerian Order's logo to be found as the sole concession to comfort, the walls and floors being bare wood.

Class 3-F is currently recieving a briefing by Professor Estelle on today's task, as she stands at the head of the class, calmly scanning between you and her notes.

"Within half an hour, we will be deploying onto the rural town of Blackby, who have reported a Fiend infestation in the local forest. As there weren't too many Fiends in the area, the Order saw fit to assign Solrise Academy's top students with the mission. Your mission today will be simple; clear out the Fiend infestation and ensure that the villagers are not injured. We have divided the area into two sectors. Class 3-A will cover the south-west sector with assistance from the local Order forces, while Class 3-F and 3-C will be covering the north-east without assistance. This will be your trial by fire. We will be assessing you based on your performance, and keeping records for your future work in the Order, should you see fit to continue with them. The same goes for the other classes. Are there any questions?"

Jeannette Levesque, for her day job, was a famed pegasus racer. Known for regularly placing in the top three in the minor Pegasus Derbies run quarterly in Ishim, allegations have dogged her career of her sleeping her way to the top. These allegations were, unsurprisingly, borne out by her failed attempt at a Top Ten finish at last years Batali Grand Prix in the neighbouring kingdom of Wybernia owing to her failure to properly control her wyvern and causing a minor accident in the city's airship dock. For this reason, she was generally considered a complete joke outside of her native city of Ishim.

For her night job, of course, she was a member of the Hood Street Runners, feared street gang of Ishim comprised of dropouts from the Seven Kingdom Path and disgraced adventurers, and for those truly in the know, the real secret to her success in Ishim is her use of Runner connections to intimidate referees into giving her races.

Whether or not she slept her way to a Master Seal, of course, remains to this day unconfirmed.

Unfortunately for poor Jeannette, these particular issues had very little time to go through her mind before being smashed off the back of her pegasus and into a coffee-stained seat, rendering her unconscious before she can even reply.
