Background: Homura herself is an average girl, if quite passionate about what she wishes to defend. What is unusual about her is her bloodline; she , unbeknownst to her, remains one of a few direct descendants of the Yamaguchi Shrine Maidens- a line of shrine maidens who, according to legend, were once responsible for the protection of a particular shrine in a certain country. In times of dire danger from invasion or famine, the Shrine Maidens would perform a dance around the shrine, supposedly to summon a powerful guardian spirit in the form of a vast insect bearing a resemblance to a moth-butterfly hybrid, whose scales drove off enemies and fertilized the crops to protect her worshipers, before flying away into the vast sky, to be seen again only in their time of need. The guardian spirit's true name was forgotten, according to legend, and paintings contemporary to the time the legends were said to have been first told do not identify it except by comparison to the sun, or a fertility deity. Historians have tentatively identified it as the Yamaguchi shrine spirit.
The legend was eventually twisted into the popular film kaiju, Batthura, who forms the basis of a relatively popular film series which Homura is a fan of.
Looks: Somewhere on the higher end of 15 to 16 years old. Homura is of light build and average height. Her hair is quite long, smooth and black, and her eyes are strikingly hazel.
Magical Looks: A white robe and red skirt, with a long strip of cloth extending down from the waist to the feet from the center, inscribed with a prayer to summon the shrine spirit. Her hair is tied in a bun above her head, kept in place by a golden comb in the shape of popular depictions of the legendary Yamaguchi shrine spirit. Her hazel eyes have become a deep red, and from her back ensues massive butterfly wings that radiate heat and permit her to fly. The pattern on the wings is quite earth, a mixture of brown and white. A faint light seems to emanate from her at all times while in this form.
It was either this or a Godzilla-themed magical girl.
