Well yeah! But in my experience (I know a number of people that live in Japan. Some locals, others that moved there from elsewhere) it's even worse there. Apparently you hear just about everything everyone does in school. The thing with EVERYONE talking about Rise, so anyone that didn't know who she was soon did, in persona 4? Not at all exxagerated.
So everyone, not just Sass, famous Idol or not, who is either a transfer student or a foreigner should expect to at least get some rumors about them and at least a bit of the spotlight.
So THAT'S going to be fun for poor ol' Sora.
