Shoes decides that the best way to deal with a giant fire-winged, hot wind-breathing monster is to charge it head on because that's worked every other time.

But the Great Falkar is not any other monster.

The Falkar species was generally wary of Monster Hunters. They actively sought out their kind, to kill them, to cut them up, to use their skin for clothes and talons for weapons. They weren't exactly sentient, but they knew enough that the sentient races were dangerous, and Monster Hunters the most dangerous of them all.

That day, however, the fear of a new being was struck into the heart of the Falkar species, as they witnessed one of their own being cut down, their talons vanishing in a swift cut almost disintegrating the thing.

This fear was well founded, for he was a swift death, and his unbalanced eyes menaced with the glare of an uncaring god.

The fear of Gnome Jenkins.

Karin, unlike William, wasn't in possession (relatively speaking) of some shadowy, bloodthirsty entity and was in fact trying to pull off a battle roar to seem intimidating.

Not that such things worked when it came from Karin's mouth.

Minato just....stares at the Bodhisattva's remains.

He wasn't exactly traumatised- after all, he'd been doing this for years at this point and this guy was training him, not trying to kill him-, but most of the fights he'd been in, for a long while, hadn't exactly involved his opponent being hit by a truck and pancaked, then resurrecting as the bastard son of Son Goku and Budai, as the opener. And most of them also didn't involve Minato starting the fight in a maid costume and ending it looking like some gaudy gokudon out of a video game.

He still wasn't sure how that last one happened. Tsukasa was going to need to do some explaining. Minato closes his eyes and rests against a surface where he can take a breather.

The sound of Falkar wings grows closer and closer.

And then they fly over the treeline and behind you, the air shimmering in their wake. The Falkar are slender, silver, wings split into three with burning red fire bursting from them, air cycling into holes in their chest. As Jarvis knows, Falkar come in flocks, and these are no different. He knows that they can and will use their wings to scorch their enemies, though this is generally restricted to larger specimens.

What he also knows is that they come with one giant pack leader, and one indeed appears, far larger than the others, its body bearing the scars of many battles.

A Great Falkar, Jarvis realises, has arrived. The smaller ones don't give much prestige and their parts aren't as useful, but larger ones? Their parts were the same Monster Hunters used in their weapons. If Jarvis could nab even a talon or some hide from this one, it'd be a step up to crafting something of his own. And it would be some way of proving himself even before he became a properly-accredited Hunter; after all, not many amateurs had the opportunity to beat a Great Monster, as they were generally left to Monster Hunters to clear.

If he could kill this thing, it would kill two birds with one stone.
