2896
The closest place Jarvis can find is a small hut belonging to the Initia Police with a sign saying "Out for Lunch: Will return in 1 hour". The hut looks as if it hasn't been occupied since morning.

2897
Serena shrugs and passes Marcia the tablet.

The contract is pretty straight-forward; kill the Demon Lord, get paid one million rhea, one million to each member of the party that participates and no more, no less. No loopholes, no shortcuts, reward to be paid out in full upon completion of the death of the Demon Lord. Serena is....surprisingly competent at writing legal contracts.

Anna shrugs.
"You and your friend have a great day, now."

2898
"Are you threatening us? Take the prices or leave 'em. Anna's Emporium takes pride in the quality and cheap prices of our products."

2899
The dagger, as soon as 42-1 even applies the slightest bit of force to it to get it off the shelf, falls apart. The previously shiny blade has a scratch on it, revealing the sheen to be silver painted over rust.
"Please, do not break my merchandise."

Then Jarvis speaks.
"If you have a problem with our legitimate operation and perfectly reasonable prices, you can take your issues up with the local Union of Annas representative. We'll get back to you in seven to ten working days after we figure out if your request has any merit."

2900
"At Anna's, we provide only the highest quality adventurer weaponry."
As she says that, a screw falls off of one of the axes mounted on the wall, causing the head to fall off and embed itself with a thud on the shop floor. The Anna doesn't even blink.
"Also, a girl's gotta eat."

2901
Keilee, 42-1 and Jarvis, by circumstance, end up in the same store, lined with all sorts of top-of-the-line equipment that seems perfectly appealing for a strapping party looking to go hunt the Demon Lord.
"Welcome to Anna's, what can I get for ya?"
This doesn't seem right.

2902
So, after a few minutes sorting out Jarvis' new stock in the Guild of Tristitia - entitling him to 500 rhea of the company's profits per month in exchange for an amount that was probably agreeable and the amount subject to increase based on negotiation- the party makes their way out of the castle. Belphegor sees them out, seemingly pausing for a moment. Raising her hand, she snaps her fingers, and a faint thunderclap can be heard in the distance.

"Almost forgot, but that SHOULD be the barrier taken care of. You're going to need to get the other Demon Generals to break down the barrier if you want into Ultima. You COULD kick their asses if you need to, but if I could ask a favour, go easy on Asmodeus. I swear, that woman's the only other sane demon in all of Helllrealm."

Shortly after the party (and Kazuto) leave, and as soon as she's sure they're out of earshot, Belphegor finally releases the breath she'd been holding in the whole time.

"....in all the time I've been alive, that's the closest I've ever come to dying. That Goddess....she could've killed me at any point. Good thing she's a whale. Gives me enough leverage."
"Going to need to call the moving team at some point today. Maybe later."

She yawned. The Demon General of Sloth had some manga to be reading. The important stuff could be done later.

Belphegor has been added as a Contact.

It was now the middle of the afternoon.

The castle had been investigated, most of the straggling demon minions apprehended by Initia's police force - a reasonably effective police force, given that Initia was one of the biggest cities on the continent - and the palace had been cleared for reuse about an hour ago. Every adventurer in Initia had been called to deal with the mess, ranging from greenhorns fresh off the Seedsprout Road to hardened veterans visiting from Penultia to see old friends. The whole mess would likely have been solved in about an hour or two given the small size of the total demon invading force against the sheer number of adventuring parties.

Of course, all of those adventurers needed something to do afterwards. The city center of Initia was thus flooded with adventurers taking some time out of their day to rest, whether it was Clash of Legends players running the new raid together, having some food at the pubs, placing bets on the football match between Ishim Hotspur and Batali United (the favourite was Hotspur, they'd signed Crisco Monty, one of the best footballers in Generia, last year and their coach was a Revivian who, unbeknownst to everyone else, had coached the Japanese Olympic football squad) or enjoying the other amenities in Initia, whether it was museums, adventuring programs or everything else that the city, one of the major hubs of Generia, held.

The party - plus Kazuto, who decided to tag along for the moment - could only find a sports-focused tavern, the Wyvern's Redoubt, as one of the only establishments that still had space for them. The place was heavily biased towards Batali United, given the portraits of some of the best players of years past and banners of the team colors and icon - green and yellow, with a shield holding a stylized wyvern over a striped golden background - all over the walls. In the corner, a group of hooligans are screaming at the crystal tablet broadcasting today's game, specifically at the game's referee about sending Batali United's midfielders off for a clearly faked injury from Ishim Hotspur's striker. Given how loud the hooligans were and the size of the tavern, Shoes was no issue in comparison, and the bartender happened to like horses anyway, not that he could stop Shoes from going where he pleased.

Of course, for the more practically minded, the artisans' quarter was around the corner from the Wyvern's Redoubt, and within it, blacksmiths, magic shops and all sorts of other places to acquire the gear necessary to defeat the Demon Lord.
....
Lilian, Selene, Marcia, Shoes, Jenkins and Yliss are being sat down by Serena, the goddess with her eyes closed.
"....alright, I don't like this, but....you guys were a LITTLE bit useful. Maybe. And I need.....a few more people to help me. I'm going to give you the same offer I gave everyone else, since I know a few of you saw it already. You help me defeat the Demon Lord, I'll give you one million rhea, each, to be delivered when I have the Demon Lord's head. You can think about it now, you can come back to me, but I need an answer today, yeah?"

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the tavern, Asuna is suddenly poked at by a friendly goblin.
"Hey. Can I get ya something?"

For Kazuto's part, he's, of course, brooding at the bar, drinking something non-alcoholic. The bartender didn't ask why.

2903
"Alright, you got my personal details, intel. Keep the weapons, by the way. I know you stole them, but it's not like I can't just make new ones. A couple hundred rhea's a drop in the ocean when you make millions off poor suckers pulling to make some pixels on a tablet look a little more naked. You guys should get going. Chances are, they'll be cleaning house here in a bit and I need to start getting out of here before the King who actually lives here comes back and his Oni wife kicks my ass, hm?"

2904
“I can deal. Speaking of which, how you holding up?”
“You think this is bad, try spending three thousand years with only one other sane person. Us non-maniacs gotta stick together.”

2905
”Fair enough. Always the ones you don’t suspect, huh....”

2906
Rosencrantz feels a shiver down his spine at being threatened, but tries his best to conceal it.
The hell did I do to deserve that?

2907
"Basically, yeah. If you COULD find the Demon Lord and kick his ass, then that MIGHT put an end to this whole war mess thing. I'm not even sure why it started in the first place; really, I only kinda sauntered vaguely Demon Lord-wards."
"Also, nice to know you agree with your goblin friend. Tell you what, I'll even give you people my personal contact info. Not that I'll bail you out or anything, but, well, my work day is basically automating everything and maybe calling up the Guild team so they can roll out some new content for Clash of Legends and then spending it reading manga, so I got nothing better to do than talk."

2908
"Fair enough. Thanks, I guess, Belphegor. You're....pretty cute too, I guess."
Rosencrantz, for his part, is rather awkward about this. He didn't exactly plan on meeting a Demon General in person, let alone one who wasn't actually interested in destroying Generia like everyone else in the world was convinced they would.

And then it turns out they were basically a bored hermit who created games for a living. Not the most climactic thing in the world.

But then, what the hell was the social etiquette for talking to a Demon General? This was uncharted territory for literally everyone else in the world, let alone Rosencrantz.

This just wasn't his area.

"Really, I'm helping because I actually like having you mortals around. You people are such great customers. Trying to get a demon to play games is like trying to get a kid to eat broccoli. Also, is your sheep friend about to explode or what? She looks like she's been constipated for about a minute."

2909
Belphegor snorts.
"No. But I bet if you found the boss, the head honcho, the Demon Lord, you'd get them to back down. They're like lap dogs to them. Cut off the head of the snake, so to speak. Never seen the Demon Lord actually deal with enemies myself, or really seen them outside of those meetings I keep getting dragged to, so don't ask me for intel because I got nothing."
"Swear to fucking God, dude, I'm soooo sick of hearing that kind of shit. Bad enough I had to deal with it back on Earth, now I'm hearing it from the man who literally worships a giant dick and a fucking fujoshi. Keep me out of your sick little fantasies, you crazy woman."
"It's a joke, dude. Besides, you're not my type, so you don't have to worry that. Your goblin friend's better-looking, personally."
"Not sure I feel comfortable being told by a Demon General I'm her type."

2910
Belphegor cracks a smirk at Jarvis.
"I know, right? Me and some of the boys who help me out here had a running bet on when Orobas would pop the question already. As for taking out Mammon and Leviathan....you'll just have to fight them, head on. They're both undead, both highly skilled fighters and tacticians, and again, they're nuts. I myself had a few plans to deal with them- Nailclipper for one, just somehow getting a Goddess to kill them or the Wiggler to eat them- but they're too much effort to execute and you guys are doing that job for me anyway."
