Bio:
The small fishing village of Lipiz lies on the river connecting the inland Sea of Caermo to the vast ocean beyond. It has a small population, barely breaching fifty people at any one time, mostly fishermen, merchants and farmers. The village remains like this for the most part, except during the times of the various rural festivals to celebrate harvest, the solstice and the arrival of spring, where Lipiz's population swells to over two hundred people, as villagers from the surrounding towns and hamlets visit Lipiz to frolic and celebrate upon the famously beautiful riverbanks that gaze upon the clear running waters and onto the Forest of Dreams on the opposite end of the river, a sight that remains unrivalled for miles along the river. Otherwise, however, Lipiz is unremarkable, a village mostly untouched by the civil war that ravaged Caermo due to its remoteness from anyone or anywhere one might desire for any tactical reasons.
Ennis was born the daughter of the village blacksmith Bran, an unremarkable man save for his talent with the smithy who had shown up years before, quite suddenly, in the middle of the night; it was often rumoured, among the rare gossipy hens that were in quiet Lipiz, that Bran had once been a blacksmith for the royalty in the capital, who had fled in the civil war. However, being as it was a fishing village, the people of Lipiz had hardly need of his skill, save for wheelbarrows and horseshoes, and nobody quite ever knew where Bran came from, not even the wife he had taken a year into his stay. Within five, Ennis was born to them, and within two afterwards, Bran's wife had passed away, taken by a winter chill. Otherwise, young Ennis' childhood was unremarkable, as the years passed, Bran plied his trade and the village of Lipiz continued to exist, entirely unchanged; she skirted the edge of the Forest of Dreams on the other side of the river, headed over the hills that blocked Lipiz from sight not two miles from the village to look onto the distance beyond. This, for most of her life, was the extent of Ennis' world.
Yet as Ennis grew, she slowly became tired of the unchanging world she'd grown too large for. Slowly, Ennis grew disillusioned as she learned her father's craft, and she yearned to see the world beyond the Forest and the hills that had once demarcated the edges of the world for her. By coincidence, an old man- a man who had once been a knight of the Caermo military- came to Lipiz to settle down, but sought an apprentice to pass on his skills to. Ennis, having grown into a curious and restless young woman, jumped at the opportunity, and so learned the art of the lance and the horse. Though this satisfied her for a time, Ennis eventually grew tired of this too, and so sought a different, new thing to learn. The gossipy hens of the village accused the old veteran of putting odd ideas in Ennis' head, but it was unfounded; Ennis had long grown tired herself of living in Lipiz, alone and separated from the rest of the world. For her, however, it was pointless to leave; she would wander and wander, aimless and homeless, and be no better than she had once been in Lipiz.
Her chance came one day.
The bandits that had been unleashed by the chaos brought on by the civil war decades ago had finally reached the remote village, which was ill-fortified and ill-prepared for bandits. Seeing easy pickings, the bandits descended upon the village like vultures, making off with what little riches the villagers had and some of the more desirable women into the woods. Ennis and the old man, the only two armed and trained in the village, were tasked with recovering their neighbours and their treasures and hounded the bandits down. Despite being outnumbered and ill-armed with only pitchforks and old heirlooms, the two defeated the bandits, rescuing the kidnapped victims and returning the stolen goods to Lipiz. After this, Ennis finally found her calling; to protect the weak from those who would prey upon them, in this case, bandits.
Riding out with a masterfully-crafted set of armor and spear from her father Bran, Ennis rode out from Lipiz to pursue her calling, with a shred of sadness for the world she was about to leave, and excitement for the world she was about to enter. As she rode out over the hills that marked the two-mile mark from Lipiz, she gazed once more upon the village, swearing only to return when she had fulfilled her purpose, and then continued on her journey, wherever it took her. Months have passed since Ennis left Lipiz, and from time to time, bandits might be found in the countryside of Caermo, hearing tell of the Little Knight, a knight of short stature who happens upon injustices and rescues victims, before riding off as quickly as they appeared, with hair as red as fire and a spear as quick as wind.
Ennis is, indeed, rather short, standing barely at five feet with vivid red hair, green eyes and a rather large bust, as if to compensate for her short stature. Personality-wise, Ennis is rather humble, looking upon herself as merely doing her part for the people. She is naturally curious, hungry for knowledge of the world she has introduced herself to, and wilful and determined, standing her ground for what she believes. She is propelled by a fierce sense of justice, one that drives her and one that she sees as defining her purpose; though normally rather quiet and mild-mannered outside of battle, Ennis becomes a woman possessed in battle, fierce and overwhelming to compensate for her little size, demanding that her opponents 'count up their crimes', ere justice be done upon them.
