"Oh, no worries. It'll be fine. I'm sure Maria'll do her best to make it work."
"Selina, you really have to be more confident in yourself, not just in battle, but with friends. Don't worry, he won't bite, and you're with me. It'll be fine."
Maria smiles warmly.

"I'm sorry, but Selina, she's a REALLY good friend of mine, you know? I wouldn't be able to take it if I saw her cry."
Hugh softens his expression.
"Just....don't hurt her, alright? Promise me that."


Maria hugs Selina tightly, but doesn't berate Hugh. She knows what he's getting at, after all.

"Really? Wow. Maria, you got busy during the summer, didn't you?"
