Bellum Aeternus: Novae Fabula
Once upon a time, in the formless void, before the coming of light and life and all that was, there were two. Harmony and Discord.
One serene and graceful, peaceable and stoic in countenance and kindly in bearing. She was Harmony, beautiful and terrible as the dawn.
One burning and chaotic, his very form raging with eternal turmoil and anger infused throughout his being. He was Discord, horrific and awesome as the dusk.
Order and Chaos, Light and Dark, Dawn and Dusk; all must be kept in balance in order to maintain existence. Harmony's Champions and Discord's Fiends; all must fight in a battle as old as time, for the fate of the world, and write a new story in the annals of history.
To decide the fate of what was, what is and what shall be, they must fight in the Eternal War.
Welcome to
Bellum Aeternus: Novae Fabula, the reboot of Sl4cker's
Bellum Aeternus: War of the Gods.
As in the original, you have been summoned by a powerful entity, the being called Harmony, revered forever. You have been called to wage war against the evils of Discord, to fight in a battle in order to protect the cosmos as we know it; to restore the balance between chaos and order for the good of all.
Though Harmony and Discord have attempted to battle before, their divergent powers would tear the fabric of reality asunder. Instead, they have summoned Champions and Fiends to fight in their stead. As players, you are Champions of Harmony, chosen for their power, dedication to order or perhaps given the promise of some sort of reward for serving Harmony.
No matter where you come from, however, one must always remember: There can be no darkness without light to rise against it.
Also, there's only 12 slots, so please do hurry.
The system will be based on
Empiricist's Tengoku no Owari original system.
Your actions follow an RtD rule set. The results of your entire turn are determined by a d6.
[1] Catastrophic Failure: Not only do you fail, you fail in a way that puts you in an even worse position.
[2] Failure: You just plain fail.
[3] Partial Success: You don't quite succeed, but you don't completely fail either.
[4] Success: You succeed.
[5] Perfect Success: You succeed very well.
[6] Catastrophic Success: You succeed so hard there are negative consequences from it.
You start each arc with 3 Will Points; three chances to defy the course of fate. By spending one, you can perform powerful feats that would be impossible under normal circumstances, such as catching lasers with a butterfly net, through the alteration of Fate itself with sheer willpower. The results of Will expenditure is still determined by your roll however.
You will also need to provide a
Fiend, the warriors who fight for Discord, with the same sheet as a Champion with some allowances provided. This Fiend must originate from the same universe as the Champion and must be opposed to the Champion in some way, but they may otherwise be whatever the players decide they are. Fiends should be discussed in PMs with me, Empiricist or KingMurdoc and their sheets should not be posted in the thread unless permission is granted.
Name: What your Champion is called.
Age: Self-explanatory.
Gender: As is this.
Appearance: Yes.
Home Universe (optional):
Background: Mhm.
Advantage: Describe your Advantage here. It is a unique ability only possessed by your character, or at least by a select few, that defines their playstyle. It can be anything from a general aptitude or broadly-applicable power to a super mode to a powerful special attack and beyond. Be creative. Or pick something interesting to rip off, at least.
Stats: Describe your character's abilities. These are the sum total of their abilities after all factors; for example, if you're not very strong, but you've got a miniature mech that you ride around and crush things in with overpowering strength, you've got a high melee stat. 14 points to be assigned at the start.
Melee: Describe close-ranged abilities here. Includes using normally ranged weapons at close range.
Ranged: Describe ranged abilities here.
Mobility: Tell us how the character moves around and how good they are at it.
Defense: How well your character deals with taking damage, whether through mitigation, durability, or sheer determination.
Super: Each super costs two points. Describe them individually underneath Skills. Each one costs a point of Will to use.
Skills: Active or passive effects that your character uses, beyond normal combat abilities. You get three to start, and more after the resolution of each plot arc.
Supers: Describe your supers here, if any.
