Name: Minato Kumon
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Minato is of average height and somewhat athletic build. His bright red hair is short and unkempt, despite his best efforts to groom it, with his equally red eyes often sporting a mischievous, eager glint. His appearance seems caught somewhere between slender and masculine, not helped by the teasing grin that barely seems to leave his lips. Minato's attire is average, if of higher quality, often consisting of white buttoned shirts and jet black shoes and trousers.
Current Regalia:
Gaia Driver: A prototype device that has a link with the leylines of the Earth, allowing its wearer to access the very memories of the land. It takes the form of a small metal device with a glowing green crystal set into the middle, which is the Gaia Core. The Driver, when activated, forms a set of light armor (Gaia Armor) around the wielder to protect them from the otherwise dangerous channeling of magical energies directly from the planet.
Gaia Armor: Armor consisting of a silver chestplate, greaves, gauntlets and helmet. The back of the helmet, chestplate, the heels of his boots and the sides of his gauntlets also have exhaust ports, allowing him to vent magical energy and steam. The undersuit is made of a flexible blue metal alloy, allowing Minato to move while still being protected from the Gaia Driver's emissions. The helmet has two green eyepieces for vision, with two antennae attached in a V-shape from the forehead to allow closer resonance with magical fields.
Background:
The Kumon family, for centuries, has been one of the chief protectors of humanity against the Aramitama. The family's origin stems in the Heian Period, as they rose to prominence assisting the Bureau of Onmyo with the recovery of Regalia, such as the Yata no Kagami, the Eight Hand Mirror. The secret occult wars that the Kumon family participated in brought as much pain and suffering to the family as it did renown in the secret world, and the Kumon grew rich from grateful nobles who rewarded them for their slaying of Yokai on their lands. Eventually, the Godslayer Organisation was founded, with the Kumon family on the board of founders, their money and experience helping the initial success of the Organisation and their research into Regalia and the leylines of the planet unparalleled at the time.
That was, of course, in the past. Since, the Kumon family has declined, if not in wealth then in importance in the occult world. The last member of the Kumon family to participate in the wars of the occult was Yukari Kumon, grandmother of the current scion, Minato Kumon. She died attempting to defeat an Aramitama using a prototype Regalia replicator; a magical circle that she had created that spawned a heavily flawed replica of the Kusanagi no Tsurugi. The replica broke in her hand, but Yukari died having wounded the god with the imperfect Regalia. The field of Regalia replication was one that many occult groups had deemed a mere pipe dream, impossible due to the unique nature of the many Regalia, many being of divine origin. Yukari Kumon's- albeit failed- replication of the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, though having killed her, paved the way for the development of the replication of ancient and legendary Regalia- and, if possible, the creation of a new, powerful Regalia akin to those of the divine.
Minato was born not into the world of the war against the Aramitama, but into the world of the rich and affluent Kumon family, who the neighbours never quite managed to figure out the jobs of. Minato grew up a relatively average youth despite his wealth, and went to a normal school. Here, he met two things that would define his life for the next decade; first, girls and secondly, bullies. He took well to the former and badly to the latter; the principal was well familiar with the sight of Minato in his office, having roughed up a thug in the playground after they were caught picking on the local shrinking violet. He eventually grew into a chivalrous young man, albeit with an unceasing enthusiasm for the opposite sex- and an unceasing tendency towards failure when wooing them. He also had a great interest in mythology, spurred by the tales of what he believed to be family folklore, and an equally great interest in women and maid cafes.
His first clash with the supernatural came when a yokai- a tsuchigumo, to be precise- invaded his home, under the service of the wounded Aramitama, who sought revenge on the Kumon family. Though Minato was a rather strong boy, a yokai was far too much even for him and he was sent fleeing. By sheer luck, Minato happened upon an untested prototype called a Gaia Driver, containing a Gaia Core, an artificial connection to the leyline that accessed the planetary memory, akin to the ritual that his grandmother had done years ago. Putting it on in the hope that it would give him some sort of gun, it instead granted him an imperfect copy of the Enduring Blade, Durandal. Using the copied Regalia, he slew the tsuchigumo, breaking Durandal in the process.
His family, no longer able to keep Minato away from the other side of the Kumons, inducted him hastily into the Godslayers and trained him, teaching him that the myths he grew up with were all real. Eventually, he agreed to join the Godslayers full time after he came of age, and he adopted a name for himself, now that the Gaia Driver had effectively attuned itself to him and responded to nobody else, despite the protests of his superior that he wasn't a 'superhero'; Masked Knight Gaia. Since then, Minato has defeated a few Mononoke under the guidance of the Godslayers, and news of the Masked Knight has been a minor spectacle in the city of Sendo.
Stats:
Ranged: 0. Minato has no ranged ability whatsoever, relying on his speed to get him close enough to damage opponents.
Close Quarters: 8. Minato is quite adept at fighting in close-range as a result of his Godslayer training, general experience in brawls and physical blessings. Moreover, Minato has mastered the art of passively summoning multiple weapons in the air around himself, allowing him to use them either as propulsion, pass them to allies to aid them or use them quickly to defend or attack when his currently wielded replicas are exhausted.
Mobility: 5. Minato has an average running speed, as his armor doesn't weigh him down too much. However, he can move himself quickly in any direction through propulsion using either the explosions from his weapons or the Luin Celtchair.
Defense: 6. His armor provides moderate protection, but it's Minato's sheer willpower and refusal to go down that makes up most of his defensive ability. Furthermore, the shields he produces from Regalia are amplified due to his natural affinity for defense.
Requiem: Imperfect Regalia Replication: Minato can imitate Regalia using the Gaia Driver's Gaia Core, granting him the ability to copy the Regalia contained within the planet's memory; once summoned, Minato can sacrifice it to either protect himself from an attack or heavily damage an opponent. However, the effects of his copied Regalia are weaker than on their original wielder.
Hypers:
Perfected False Regalia: Enduring Knight's Blade [3]: Durandal, the Sword of Roland, one of the Regalia that Minato has perfected the summoning thereof. Minato summons Durandal, increasing his durability and physical power while wielding it, and it can survive longer due to the perfect recollection. As with other false Regalia, he can destroy it to protect himself from attack or to damage an enemy heavily.
Perfected False Regalia: Impenetrable Seven Rings: [4]: Rho Aias, the Shield of Ajax, one of the Regalia that Minato has perfected the summoning thereof. Minato summons Rho Aias, creating an energy barrier in front of himself or an ally that absorbs a moderately powerful attack (i.e cars, rockets) before breaking. As with other false Regalia, he can destroy it to protect himself from attack or to damage an enemy heavily.
Perfected False Regalia: Blazing Spear of Wrath [4]: The Luin Celtchair, the spear of Celtchar, said to blaze with such intensity as to require constant soothing outside of battle and constantly seek enemies to slay. Minato summons the Luin, gripping on to it and using it as an improvised charge, allowing Minato to move short distances quickly while pinning an opponent using the Luin.
Limiter Release: Dai-Henshin [6]: Minato releases the limiters on the Gaia Core, amplifying his strength, agility and resilience exponentially. However, the limiters also restrain the effects of direct exposure to leylines on the human body. The longer Minato stays in Dai-Henshin, the more injury his body will sustain.
True Reincarnation: True Regalia Replication [R]: Minato amplifies the Gaia Driver enough to funnel sufficient energy to create a true replica of a legendary Regalia, with all the associated powers and strength thereof.
True Regalia Invocation: Unerring Spear of the Allfather [R]: Minato imbues the concept of Gungnir, the spear of Odin with unerring aim, into his body and strikes the opponent at full force. As long as Minato is in melee range of the opponent, the attack will never miss and cannot be evaded.
