How do I create a creature that A). has a melting limb so its grasper falls off, and B) transforms said grasper into another creature? I've looked it up and attempted it but I don't seem to be getting far.

Alistair was shocked.
His big sis had failed to save Matt.
HIS big sis. The most badass person in the world to him.
Maria Ryan, magical girl, who turned into a scary woman who could summon gods, couldn't save her friend.
His sister had never once failed. Not ever.
So Alistair cried too. He cried for his sister. His sister had never failed. Not truly. Until now.
((Apart from school stuff. But then again, doesn't involve magics, so...))

Maria continued sobbing, muttering "Why him"s and "She'll pay"s under her breath.
