"Oh...I'm sorry if I'm bothering you, I'll just go."
Maria backed off, a bit miffed.

63152
((Exactly as planned.))
Maria decided to settle at an area relatively undamaged by the storm last night. Alistair looked around disappointedly.
"Sis, why is everything all wet and burnt?"
"There was a storm around here, bud. Didn't think it'd be this bad."
"Awww...are we still staying though, sis?"
"Might as well, we spent the effort of getting up to go here!"
Alistair smiled and ran around the area. Maria took that as an opportunity to go talk to the girl she'd noticed in the area. She looked...lonely, and Maria was a sucker for lonely people. Besides, with Alistair being a kid, he'd be probably running around until he got bored and decided to play Scrabble.

Maria shrugged and went up to the girl who was drawing.
"Nice day for landscape drawing, this is."

63153
Maria glugged down a glass of water with an aspirin while Alistair watched her expectantly.
"Are you alright now, Sis?"
"I'll be just fine. Thanks, Ali." Maria patted her little brother on the shoulder.
The boy smiled, relieved that his bigger sister was alright. Maria herself couldn't help but smile; her little brother, even when he annoyed her -which was rarely- could never not make her smile. Maria sighed and considered going out to the park. They hadn't been for two weeks and Alistair was starting to go stir-crazy from being in too long.

She decided to have some fun today. It would take her mind off the episode of insanity she just had and if it didn't, at least she'd get some fresh air.
"Listen, Ali, get the basket and picnic mat, and get whatever food you like. We're going to the park today! You can bring the Scrabble board as well."
"Really, Sis? We're going without Mom?"
"I'll leave a note. It'll be fine. Now get packing, buddy. Let me just get changed."
Alistair jumped happily out of Maria's room and zoomed around the house, while Maria changed into a white blouse and black skirt -odd, that she'd wear those clothes- and left a note on the counter, telling their parents that she and her brother were at the park.

Soon, Maria and Alistair set off for the park, to enjoy the summer sun and to get some fresh air, Alistair humming happily to himself and Maria telling him of her adventures- all trumped up as fairy tales of course, even at Alistair's age, a kid wouldn't believe that she REALLY went out at night and fought monsters.

63154
Maria woke up in her room, her magical staff in her hand, with a start. She had been dreaming about a world where she fought masked monsters alongside others at night, called.....something-she couldn't remember; it was a psychological term (sound familiar?).

So. Basically her night life, only with more tech and psychology.

The teenager pulled herself groggily out of bed and looked out of her window, carefully putting her staff under her bed. It was a sunny day. She'd had a long night; the masked creatures had kept her up on her toes all night and she was worn out.
"Maria, are you awake yet?"
This was her little brother, Alistair. He'd peeped in her room and wanted to play Scrabble with her, as evidenced by the box he was carrying under his arm.
"Not now, Ali. I'm tired."
"Oh why?" Alistair looked slightly miffed.
Maria flashed a sheepish, tired smile. "Long night, buddy. Why don't you play with Mom?"
"She's out again. Needed to buy more milk."
"Dad?"
"Still asleep."
"Hmm. Listen, just let me get some more sleep and I'll play with you later, okay?"
Her brother's expression cheered up. "Ok, um, I'll let you get some sleep!" He closed the door.

Maria sighed and slumped onto her desk chair, exhausted.
"I really have to find a way to stop those things for good. I want a good night's sleep for once. I haven't had one in days...."
Maria tried to remember the last night where she'd gotten a full night's sleep without being disturbed by monsters. Almost....ten days ago, now - thank God it was summer break - and she didn't think it would be over soon. The monsters were getting stronger lately. More bold too.
The teenager's thoughts on this matter were immediately stopped by a searing pain overcoming her head.
"Aaaaagh!"

A long road. Nighttime. Inner city.

A brown-haired teen, wearing a white glove with a keypad on it, with a vest, jeans and checkered polo shirt,  leads a black-haired, laidback boy in a vest, jeans and a shirt, and a brown-haired girl in a white blouse, black skirt and shoes, all wearing the same glove.

"Right. Simon, you go that way. Maria, check that way. I'll go ahead. Maria, keep Chiron ready, I'll have Ixion equipped and Simon, get Gaea ready."
"Gotcha, Richie."

The girl looked up, nodding. She was....

Wait, what? Was that......her? What was Gaea? Did they have her powers?

What was she doing?  What was this? Why was....

"Sis, you ok? Sis?!"
Alistair was shaking Maria violently. He'd heard her cry out in pain and immediately rushed to her side.
The teenager's mind quickly swapped away from the strange vision and back to reality.
"Yes...just had a bad dream. Just...just get me a glass of water, kay?"
Alistair rushed outside, while Maria clutched her head and groaned.
"What...what did I just see?

As for stats, I just realized. Short of Stanley in his human form, Maria's the physically strongest and most resilient of the magic girls.

63156
Zoroark planned with his own team.
"Right. So, we have to face five psychopathic furballs, a nice-looking gunslinging woman, and a pointy-eared guy in green."
"I can handle the furballs. I have tricks of my own."
"Heh. Weapons are for the weak."
"Right, Necromancer, you'll go up against the Meepos, since from what the employer told me, you can summon the dead. Udyr, you take care of little miss there, you have a shield and the manoeuvrability. I'll take on the elf."
"Wouldn't it make more sense for us to take the elf and you to take on the gunner? We've had experience with guns before. We doubt that our skills will help. And we're assured that you probably have some sort of ranged attack; we have no way of taking someone out from range without them escaping."
"Right then, so Necromancer, you take on Meepo, I'll take the gunner. And Udyr, you take the elf."
"This'll be fun. Those fur-covered loons better come prepared, as I bring painful death."
"Nice boast there, buddy. Little old-fashioned though."
"Wait. That man."
"What about him?"
"He's staring at the man in green. Was it.."
"That's Luigi. That's the bloke we've been told to protect!"
"I'm going to assume that whoever the gunman is, he's the one we're going to protect him from. I'll end this now."
The Necromancer moved to raise his wand, but Udyr's hand held his arm down, hopefully keeping them away from Ocelot's attention.
"Not now, death mage. We don't know if he's the one. It could be Urgot."
"Who?"
"The spider-like robotic zombie. I know him. He's sold himself to Zaun and Noxus in an attempt to finally die. At least, not without killing his archenemy first."
"Right. So the old military man or the undead mechanical monstrosity."
"Shh! Pipe down. If one of them hears us, they'll think we're onto them. We don't know who or why they want him, but all I know is that someone here is going after Luigi, and our employer wants us to stop that."
Udyr sighed. The Spirit Walker had had enough talk about conspiracy.
"We will stop talking about this NOW. We have no information about our enemies, and we cannot make assumptions. For all we know, he is simply scanning his opponents, like Zoroark has done and like we should be. As illogical as it sounds, we should leave him be unless we know that he's complicit, or Urgot is."
"But-"
A withering glare from the Freijordian wildman silenced the Necromancer.

63157
Zoroark examined Ocelot as he said that. He hissed.
"He's lying."
"How can you tell?"
"My entire existence is based around lies, illusions, and dirty tricks. I can tell if a human is lying. Believe me, he's pulling a fast one."
"Might I ask why?"
"I could be wrong. I have been. But that guy's up to something shifty."
"He seems too vulnerable. Too old. Heh."
"Hm. Well, we can't necessarily do anything."
"Innocent or not, I'm keeping an eye on him."
Zoroark stared suspiciously at Ocelot, before returning to studying the Deadly Seven.

I think it's inevitable what my magical girl will use.
Spoiler: Maria Ryan/Anima: (click to show/hide)

63159
"Heh. So we're matched up with a green-clad warrior, five....yordle-things and a strange woman with Piltoverian gadgets."
"Piltover?"
The Necromancer sighed. This foolish wildman was speaking gibberish- but then, did he expect more?
"We'd say that we could take the green-clad warrior, and you fight the yordle-creatures. You can summon the undead, after all."
"I have my doubts, but I have faith that even you can fight a pretty boy with a sword."
Udyr growled, but then the group was joined by a robed old man, who quickly revealed himself to be Zoroark.
"Good day, gentlemen."
"Heh. Who are you?"
"I'm your third man, Zoroark."
"Might I ask, what are you?"
"A Zoroark. Is that not clear enough? Anyway, I also have a message for you."
The Necromancer scanned his mental database, but Udyr, having been in the League of Legends, knew better than to ask just what a Zoroark was.
"What is it?"
"You're to protect Luigi. The tall mustachioed man in green."
"The scrawny one? Hmph. That'll be easy. Just don't let him go into fights."
"Indeed. I am curious as to two things though. One, what is a Zoroark, and two, why are we to protect this Luigi character?"
"A Zoroark is a...you wouldn't understand and I don't have time to explain. Secondly, our employer made it imperative that we protect that man with our lives. He didn't say why."
"Right. So a man, we don't even know and who forced us into this in the first place, demands we protect one of our potential enemies. Are we correct?"
"I've done worse. I once had to liberate a dagger for a village in a swamp for no reason other than to persuade a man to let me go to what appeared to be Hell."
"Whatever the case, he promises great rewards if we get him safe."
"I'm in. This ought to be interesting. And you, Spirit Walker?"
"If we must, we must. I've no interest in protecting him, but since none of you will say otherwise, we have to help."
"Excellent. Now, who are we up against?"
"The Deadly Seven."
(As to why Zoroark is talking, I'm stretching the rules here, but Pokemon have been seen to talk (albeit anime-only, i.e Meowth, Mewtwo, Lucario), and there were incidents where a Zoroark disguised itself as a human and talked normally.)

63160
Udyr scanned the room, immediately sighting Urgot.
"Oh hell."
He recognised the Huntsman's Pride. He was going to be an absolute menace, especially with his abilities....Udyr actually winced at the thought of going up against Urgot's Corrosive Charge.
"Something wrong, Spirit Walker?"
"None of your business, Necromancer."
Udyr then looked to his left, and spotted Luigi. Having not been informed himself as to the nature of Luigi from his paymaster, he didn't recognise him.
"Hmph. That tall one. He looks scrawny and weak."
"Which tall one, the one with the sword?"

On the other side of the room....
A janitor surveyed Team Sain, then the Underdogs. He smirked.
"Hehe. This'll be fun."
His eye flashed for a moment, revealing a light blue canine eye. Zoroark had entered the room. He shifted disguises into a robed, old man, and stayed close to the Underdogs, keeping an eye on his own team.

Udyr pointed at Luigi.
"That tall one."
"I do agree on that one....but he might be more than meets the eye."
Udyr then realized that the Necromancer had a point. In his own world, yordles, like that Veigar, that little Kinkou assassin- he'd forgotten what his name was, probably Kenneth or something, or, gods forbid, TEEMO, dominated the Fields of Justice. Yordles were small, furry creatures, barely the height of Udyr's knee. And yet they were still capable of screwing up someone's day.
This Luigi person looked weak and scrawny. But he might well be the strongest of the lot.
"Noted, Necromancer. Wait...is that one of the Kinkou?"
Udyr had noticed Ayane.
"A what? I apologise, I'm not familiar with your terms."

63161
Well, as far as I'm concerned, yeah. Can't wait to see where this plot thread ends.

63162
I hope it's fine I decided to be the spanner in the works for you, Nerjin.

63163
The mysterious employer who had taken Udyr and the Necromancer pondered on the venture he was about to embark on. He examined the glove he was wearing- a white, leather glove, with a keypad on it- before rubbing his chin, pondering the potential benefits of this job.
"Hm. If I can simply win this tournament, perhaps I shall be able to solve my more pressing problems...no....not right now. I must find out what-"
He was interrupted by a phone ringing. He answered.
"Yes?"
"It's me. I have a new objective for you."
"What?"
"Out of curiosity, have you ever been to the Mushroom Kingdom?"
"No, I don't believe I've had the pleasure. Why?"
"Their greatest heroes, the Mario Brothers, want in this tournament. Specifically, Luigi."
"And what do you want me to do? Take him in? I can only take three in. You know the rules as well as I do- which, thus far, isn't much."
"To the contrary, I want you to protect Luigi."
"Oh?"
"I have a special interest that might be advanced if he were to be protected."
"From what, precisely?"
"I will inform you when I can. As far as our intel goes, we don't know who they're sending in to get him. All I know is that someone wants Luigi captured, possibly to take Mario with him, leaving the Mushroom Kingdom without 99% of their military strength."
"And what do you expect me to do?"
"You know what to do."
"You're suggesting I break conduct and interfere directly? You know what happened last time."
"You have Udyr, the Necromancer, and Zoroark. You know what to do."
"I don't normally participate in escort missions- too risky and personal. What do I get from this?"
"Unimagineable power."
"Not interested. I come from a place where power is given to the wrong men- and wrong creatures. And I have a power of my own."
"Fine then. How about this- a clean slate. You can go home. No catch. Just keep Luigi free and make sure that he stays free. In return, you'll be exonerated of your mistakes and you can go home free."

The employer reflected upon the potential of this. He could go home. After such a long time, he could go home! All he had to do was stop some random guys from kidnapping one of the Mario brothers. That's all he had to do. And he could go home.
"Fine. But I want no more of this. You and I, we're through. Only contact me if you're desperate enough. I'm not going to be cheap. It's your fault in the first place I'm even on the run in the first place."
"Excellent. You will recieve further intel as the tournament continues. And, by the way, Maria says hi, Collins. She demanded I pass the message along. Good day, Collins."

The other man hung up. Collins sighed, and pounded his desk.
"That bastard better keep his side of the deal."
He stood up and walked off, calling two guards to come with him.
"Come, we're going to go see to that Zoroark. Make sure he's bound, he's feisty!"

63164
Oh, you saw the dust bunny.
What dust bunny?

63165
I did. There is now a large fluffy darkness abomination thing behind me.
