It includes a Persona user, an Angry Marine, a DnD NPC healer, a pissed off leopardwoman, a Homestuck troll and a dweller of Pandora, among other things, as characters.

Boatmurdered elephants are worse.

Or for that matter, set a bunch of Boatmurdered elephants with the ability to cast Ma-dyne spells on the bugger.

Nobody except Maria and the Agent would survive that.

Sounds interesting, might join in.

Eh.

Think of it like this.

Weak= Richard nearly dies. He'll be out for the next couple of rounds, and incapacitated unless magically healed.
Nothing= Richard gets his limb torn off. He screams his head off, but survives.
Resistance= Richard survives the hit, and manages to get back to cover.
Strong to= Richard takes the hit, but doesn't like it, and is still somewhat wounded.
Null= Richard survives the hit with no effects whatsoever.
Reflect= The round turns right around and hits the shooter instead.
Absorb= Richard heals from it.

I'm probably not going to use the last three.

Resistances help make sure Richard manages to survive long enough to heal from said cannon shots, either by Persona, Barth or Maria.

Or keeps his guts in.
