He'd be polite, then off-put by her perfection, then utterly pissed as he realizes she's like those characters from bad fanfics, a mary sue; guy reads TvTropes.

She wouldn't be able to notice without being either a telepath, a skilled healer or a close friend of his, since he'd remain calm all the time.

Also, we could probably kill her using a red shirt.

Only Kwykathen managed to make him dislike her off the bat, and she's a misandristic blood knight with murderous tendencies.

He had fought before; he wasn't some sort of weakling, but the automaton was both stronger and more experienced.

And his hands and shoulder were hurting.

He looked up and nodded, before sitting down, grunting.

Cricket bat. And he isn't skilled; otherwise Maria would be fighting harder and Richard wouldn't be stumbling and getting hit so much. Also, the sword's quite big; so he could feasibly block most of her shots simply by leaving it up sideways.

And he did spend some time fighting criminals. Two years of his life at night.

How else do you think he trained his Personas up?

As he flies back, he grabs Maria's arm to either tether himself or drag her with him.
