Personality: Lillian is normally rather composed and polite, rarely raising her voice, and often holds small tea parties to which she invites a few friends of hers. She also does her best to be as kind as she can, trying to avoid conflict by careful control of her temper, although she does have a coy, mischievous side. She is rather nice to children herself as well, often offering them cookies when she can. Her composed visage and quiet nature hides a burning desire to protect the innocent and uphold justice, one which she unleashes as Gear Sheriff Abram; one which occasionally rears its head when people agitate her enough to see the steel hidden beneath her silk and realise that for all her seeming quiet nature, she has an inner flame of her own. However, as a result, she often comes off as untroubled, or stoic, when she really is the exact opposite.
Appearance: Lillian is the very image of prim and proper, standing out strikingly from your average Avalon resident. Indeed, with long blonde hair tied with a small ribbon, bright blue eyes and a tall frame with curves that would be the envy of most women, one would be hard pressed to not notice her, as she looks the very image of a young lady in her late teens. Her sense of dress is also quite proper, with simple, but opulent-seeming dress being the order of the day with her. In her dorm, she is rarely seen without a teacup in one hand and a book in the other and outside, never without a convenient walking-stick and a bag to carry books and biscuits.
As
Gear Sheriff Abram, her armor coats her from head to toe, and one would be hard-pressed to associate this almost-robotic visage with the lady beneath; the armor is all-encompassing to the point that anything about the wearer is hidden in the stiff-seeming nature of the armor. The armor is constructed from long, titanium-alloy plates covering her forearms, lower legs, groin and torso, with the segments in between protected by an undersuit made from a black bullet-resistant flexible polymer. and her shoulders covered with pauldrons made from the same metal as the rest of her armor, allowing it to protect the wearer while remaining relatively flexible. Her helmet is rather robotic, too, with a black visor covering the eyes and a silver mouthpiece taking up the rest, with bronze plates protecting the side, back and top of her head (never ask where her hair goes, even she doesn't know the answer). The armor materialises from a small, silver belt that Lillian wears at all times, and dematerialises in when not in use, seemingly vanishing and reappearing out of nothing. Of course, a good Gear Sheriff is never seen without their weapon, and hers is the Clockwork Rifle; a rifle fashioned from sleek titanium with a polymer metal-plated stock and polymer grip, fitted with non-lethal ammunition (nets, soft ammo and what-not) and lethal ammunition for the apprehension and when necessary, execution of criminals respectively, capable of firing farther and faster than a normal gun. The name 'Abram' is engraved into the stock, reminding the wielder and anyone with good sense who is currently in their vicinity. Finally, the suit carries several cuffs and ropes to restrain criminals for apprehension and subsequent trial.
Backstory: The Oakley family are a small, but respectable and incredibly rich noble family, having been around for ages and having amassed wealth and to an extent land since then, reaching prominence both in their native city and neighboring cities, surviving the supervillainy that had ravaged their city. Nowadays, the clan's members serve as executives on various boards of companies around the world, with some of the clan's generous donations funnelled into the International Policing Society, famous for the enforcers called the Gear Sheriffs; indeed, William Oakley, a uncle of Lillian's, served as Gear Sheriff Morrivan, the traditional protector of the Avalon-based headquarters of the Society before retiring due to an injury to his leg.
Its youngest scion is Lillian Oakley, and the current heir to the family is Charles Oakley, Lillian's older brother. The current patriarch is Nathaniel Oakley, presiding over the family fortunes from their estate outside the city of Andrewson.
Lillian was never expected to do much; as a woman, she was expected to smile, look pretty and marry into a nice young wealthy man's family, not like her older brother, an executive officer in one of the big rail companies. As a child, she spent much of her childhood travelling between family holdings in various cities and the family ancestral home in Andrewson, earning a taste for adventure and a sense of independence on the way as she was raised by her maid while her parents handled the affairs of the family. One might expect a girl of her stature and wealth to be spoiled; quite the opposite, in fact. She mainly learned to raise herself, as her maid was, while decent in many ways, no expert at cooking or housework or anything one might need to survive. Lillian grew into a sensitive, motherly young woman with a love of travelling, tea and good books, but with a hidden steel when one made the mistake of thinking her fragile. Of course, she never quite understood why her parents didn't approve of her being so adventurous.
Of course, when she came of age, she was introduced to many, many suitors. All were handsome young men, of honorable pedigree, but she never found any of them interesting or indeed felt anything but platonic respect towards them; mostly due to their tendency to make assumptions about her perceived fragility and gentleness. The closest she'd ever come to a romantic relationship was to a young gentleman who had been her tutor in times past, but that relationship was not to be. Her parents grew frustrated with her never making a choice and so gave her an ultimatum; choose a suitor or they would choose one for her. Of course, her inner steel made itself known and she decided to follow in the path of one of her ancestors and joined the International Policing Society as an enforcer, much to her parents' chagrin. They tried their best to stop her, but eventually, the effort was made clearly futile when the Society itself recruited her due to high marksmanship scores in a test she'd participated in. The Society took her in, training her in the various skills required to be an enforcer of the Society's works, from investigation to criminology, to the robotics and blacksmithing required to maintain Gear Sheriff armor in order for her to act as a deputy to an actual Sheriff. Lillian had even accompanied Society forces on low-risk missions to be acclimated to the job, performing well on these missions.
Impressed with her skills and how much she had learned and done as a trainee enforcer, the Society was about to send her off to Avalon's prestigious academy for training superheroes on a scholarship, in order to finalise her training as an auxiliary enforcer when a supervillain, codenamed Shadowdancer, attacked the recruitment center in Andrewson where Lillian was at. In desperation, Lillian looked around for something to protect the unarmed recruiters while the deputies and the resident Gear Sheriff was nowhere to be found, before locating the recently vacated Abram belt. Donning the belt, she quickly equipped the Abram armor and engaged Shadowdancer in a gunfight that wounded the former enough to allow Lillian to restrain him despite her inexperience with actually wearing the armor. The authorities were able, with the assistance of the resident Sheriff Galan, to apprehend Shadowdancer and return him to custody when they arrived at the scene. Impressed with her performance under stress and taking into account her prior experience as a trainee on missions, the Society allowed Lillian to keep the Abram armor, giving her a scholarship to Avalon City's academy, not as an auxiliary enforcer but as a trainee Gear Sheriff; the next Gear Sheriff Abram.
