Biography:The Gear Sheriffs are the chief enforcers of an international group of law enforcers, the International Policing Society, fueled by the desire to protect justice and innocents, and united in their passion to apprehend criminals. What sets them apart from ordinary policemen is their signature Gear Sheriff Armor, a set of clockwork-powered armor (the original creator long since forgotten), impervious to physical attack and resistant to many hazards that can be put on at any time, anywhere to allow the Gear Sheriffs to respond with ease to any situation and any crime. When acting as Gear Sheriffs, they take up different names, to separate them from the identity of the normal men and women who take up the mantle of a Gear Sheriff, and often these names are passed down, leaving some in the criminal underworld to believe that the Sheriffs are immortals, when one is seemingly killed only to reappear the next day to apprehend them. One such Sheriff is Abram, named for the first Sheriff to take up the mantle who died in battle attempting to evacuate a young lady and her child. His Armor has been passed down the organisation's ranks, enforcer after enforcer claiming the mantle of Abram and perpetuating the myth of the immortal Sheriffs.
Lillian Oakley doesn't remember much about her days before Farfield. Her presence as the local proper lady, holding tea parties ever so often and socialising at the town soirees would convince an uninformed onlooker of her descent from some sort of nobility; helped by her seemingly having money out of nowhere to spend on tea, food and books. Of course, 'Lady Oakley', as she's known, wouldn't be able to tell you if, as the rumours say, she is truly descended from old Scottish nobility who fled long ago to what was once the United States- thus explaining her seeming lavish amounts of money- or if those other rumours about her and certain Farfielders are true and she has some sort of tryst with the local fireworks expert she often takes luncheon with. Apart from a rather unnervingly good aim and a near-encyclopedic knowledge of mechanics, she seems rather like your typical high-class lady, well-travelled with a few languages under her belt and a love of fine tea. To assume that, as with all proper ladies, Lillian remains at home at night to read and enjoy a nice cup of tea would be the logical reaction; indeed, who would connect the sweet, motherly Lady Oakley with the rumours that a Gear Sheriff is in town, patrolling the border every night and apprehending criminals unfortunate enough to cross their path? Surely such a connection would be preposterous, right?
But of course, it's not entirely preposterous. Lillian doesn't remember when, specifically, she acquired the Abram armor. She doesn't remember many things. All she knows is that three years ago, she woke up in a nice house in Farfield that they said belonged to her and ended up accidentally activating the Armor when she was attempting to make some cookies for the neighbor kids. Indeed, with her nightly jaunts as the town guard, Lillian hopes that she'll find some hint of her past, ever since a flash of her memory- her pushing a child out of the way of an oncoming flash- had occurred to her when she caught and apprehended a burglar. Of course, it's mainly to keep an eye on people and the town she's grown to love and has grown to love her in return, but if she can find some sort of hint to her past, to what had happened before Farfield, to how she became a Gear Sheriff, then so be it.
All a lie. Her real identity is the great-great-grandmother of a certain Lilly Satou.Description: Lillian is the very image of prim and proper, standing out strikingly from your average Farfielder. Indeed, with long blonde hair tied with a small ribbon, bright blue eyes and a tall frame with curves that would be the envy of most women, one would be hard pressed to not notice her, as she looks the very image of a young lady in her early 20s. Her sense of dress is also quite proper, with simple, but opulent-seeming dress being the order of the day with her. At home, she is rarely seen without a teacup in one hand and a book in the other and outside, never without a convenient walking-stick and a bag to carry books and biscuits. She is normally rather composed and polite, rarely raising her voice, and often holds small tea parties to which she invites a few friends of hers- nobody really close to her. She also does her best to be as kind as she can, trying to avoid conflict by careful control of her temper, although she does have a coy, mischievous side. She is rather nice to children herself, often offering them cookies when they pass by her house. Her composed visage and quiet nature hides a burning desire to protect the innocent and uphold justice, one which she unleashes as Gear Sheriff Abram; one which occasionally rears its head when people agitate her enough to see the steel hidden beneath her silk and realise that for all her seeming quiet nature, she has an inner flame of her own. Fitting for a Gear Sheriff in disguise.
As Gear Sheriff Abram, her armor coats her from head to toe, and one would be hard-pressed to associate this almost-robotic visage with the lady beneath; the armor is all-encompassing to the point that anything about the wearer is hidden in the stiff-seeming nature of the armor. The armor is constructed from long, bronze plates covering her forearms, lower legs, groin and torso, with the segments in between protected by some sort of metallic chainmail and her shoulders covered with bronze pauldrons, allowing it to protect the wearer while remaining relatively flexible. Her helmet is rather robotic, too, with a black visor covering the eyes and a silver mouthpiece taking up the rest, with bronze plates protecting the side, back and top of her head (never ask where her hair goes, even she doesn't know the answer). The armor slides out from a small, bronze belt that Lillian wears at all times, and slides back in when not in use, seemingly vanishing and reappearing out of nothing. Of course, a good Gear Sheriff is never seen without their weapon, and hers is the Clockwork Rifle; a rifle fashioned from bronze with a wooden stock and grip, fitted with non-lethal ammunition (nets, soft ammo and what-not) and lethal ammunition for the apprehension and when necessary, execution of criminals respectively, capable of firing farther and faster than a normal gun of the period. The name 'Abram' is carved into the stock, reminding the wielder and anyone with good sense who is currently in their vicinity. Finally, the suit carries several cuffs and ropes to restrain criminals for apprehension and subsequent trial.
Aspects:Catchphrase: "Now, count up your crimes.", and only with a flick of the right wrist and a finger pointed at the enemy as she says it. Alternatively, "My, my."
"Ara, ara."Motivation: The protection of innocents and the maintenance of justice. Mainly the former; she has a soft spot for children in particular.
And burn victims. And heart patients.Identity:
Best Girl In The Game Lady Oakley, the sweet, tea-loving young lady who carries herself with an air of nobility and motherly nature.
Epithet: The Gear Sheriff. Alternatively, the Clockwork Deadeye for when there is more than one Gear Sheriff in play.
Transformation Pose (Because all good toku heroes must have them): Lillian clenches her fist and raises her left hand over her chest, saying 'Put On', before turning, crouching and pushing her fist to the ground, pulling back and raising her right hand to the sky. This activates her Armor and transforms her into Gear Sheriff Abram. She can also activate it in emergency situations by yelling 'Put On', but it causes some pain due to the rapid shifting of the plates that make up the armor.
Challenges:
Personal: Sometimes, the protection of innocents conflicts with her desire to uphold the law. Similarly, if one attempts to harm children, though her anger may not be fiery, her ability to restrain herself is compromised in such situations. She also has a tendency to keep her problems to herself, much to her own detriment as she believes she must bear her own burdens.
Social: Even if she is a rather beloved lady of the town, old-fashioned people unaware of her identity as Gear Sheriff Abram or her reputation as Lady Oakley and convinced of female weakness may treat Lillian as if she were fragile. This tends to go away when she starts shooting things or when she visibly transforms in front of them.
Drawbacks: Lillian loses her suit-based abilities if she loses her Gear Sheriff Armor.
