"We're no taxmen."
Konicek shifted the glaive to lean on his shoulder, standing on the deck.
"Your humble home is ours. This is our ship. We might not throw you off, though - we got an offer for you. Gnome? You tell them."

Look around to see if it is possible to jump from the dock onto the ship or vice versa. Follow up the gangplank, but remain silient.

have the axe in one hand, shield in the other.
The red sphere is obviously a bouncy ball! Bounce it!

"Anciano, if they can give us a start on the crew we need, it makes sense to hire them. If not, THEN we can give them some money and send them away."

"We should not pay them for illegally living on our ship. They do not appear poor from their quantity of possessions; we should not reward them for their crime, victimless as it is."

What conscription system to establish: Mandatory 2 years for all citizens, optional staying on.

What to request from Capus, as they are the only available way to get arms\training\equipment: Supply trucks, supply trucks, railcars, supply trucks. Basically: logistics logistics logistics. All the guns and all the training in the world mean something between jack and shit if they don't get fed or get bullets.

Rifles. Small arms. And possibly "advisers" to help us whip the army into shape, but I am hesitant on this.

+1, but...

...make it a one year conscription. Covers a larger amount of potiential troops and reduces bullying in the military.

Deathtrap sungeon? I remember that! more's the pity

Basically, we're brick-wall stupid. Excellent. Good and dorfy.

Pull the lever. Ready ourselves for a sudden attack out the gate when it opens.

1) Total? Think pre WW1 British empire size. A lot.
Pre WW1 british Empire army size was actually pretty small for the size of the empire. The Kaiser called it "a competible little army" because it was a really small military force. The British spread their empire mainly by hiring natives to act as a large number of troops, backed by a small core of british soldiers. A better example would be france (approx 4 times the amount with 4,017,0000 or the germans (with 4.5 times the amount with 4,500,000) in 1914 compared to Britain's 975,000.

I recall someone else in history did the conscription trick. It may have been Nazi germany, actually, as a way to get around the Treaty of Versailles. I vote for conscription - we 'll need a core of full-time soldiers, but we'll need more than ten battalions to defeat the occupiers if they mobilise in force.

We require more details:
1) How large are the Capsun Empire's armed forces?

2) Are we geographically connected to the Capsun Empire? ( connected to 3 and 4)

3) Are there potential enemies/ allies nearby who might interfere in the conflict? (connected to 2 and 4)

4) Can we get a rough map of the continent?

"Very well. We can hire them. What if, however, we encounter combat? Children on board could be a liability. It is something we must consider."

If you make an airlock with two bridges - there are several designs available (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Bridge#Single_Lever_Airlock) - you can supply him with materials to work with abd retrieve the products without him coming into contact with other dwarves. If he is revealed as a vampire, when he murders someone the hammerer will beat him to death.

"We should board it rapidly, not give them a chance to raise the gangplank. Then, halfblo- Westfall, you could question them as to getting a crew. Then we throw them out. They can keep their stuff if they answer well."

"The memory is foggy. The detail is clear. One of your kind was my greatest foe."
Konicek matched Durham's stare until Morazin cleared his throat loudly.
"...Fine. I shall drop the matter. Let us proceed to the ship."
Konicek wrapped a hand around the shaft of the glaive and stood.

I've made an account on Myth-Weavers. Is there a way to allow me to edit my character sheet? My account name is KonicekGig, is that helps.

Yeah, however you like-the meat of the game hasn't started yet. The sheet I have up for you now is a sample.

Now, it'd be easier for you just to make your own sheet, and copy/paste all the info I put down minus or plus whatever you wanna change. I could also give you the file for the sheet, if you really needed it.

Ok, I'll just copy the information.

Shiny new char sheet: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=587011

I've updated my app as well.

I wonder... the Paradox Forums had/possibly have a writing thing called 'Guess the Author'. Basically, a number of writers submit short pieces of writing related to a chosen common theme or idea. The stories are then submitted anonymously and open to criticism and comments by readers (who also try to guess who the author might be). After a time, the authors are revealed and the next round begins.

What I was thinking was if the same concept would work here. We don't have the same game AAR authors to go back on, though we could use FG&RP or the DF community stories and criticism can be found here. It could be more of a game with readers voting for best stories (keeping it anonymous so no bias), too.

Basically, I just like the idea of a regular writing exercises the forums could criticize and rate without bias either way that comes from knowing the author. A competitive factor wouldn't hurt.

The original GtA is here if you don't get what I mean, and I am never very clear.

Sounds interesting to me. I would be willing to have a go.
