Its a bit micromanage-y, but what if you gave them crossbows and melee weapons, and you forbid the crossbows they were carrying just before they went toe-to-toe? Shouldn't they then drop their crossbows and draw swords? Course, they would have to go pick up the crossbows again after, but it's not a worry if they're all dead anyway.

You can certainly get rid of the cave moss and floor fungus.

Getting rid of the shrubs, however, is another story - you could remove them from the game, but that will prevent you from doing any underground farming. If you want them to stop growing inside your fortress, you can DFHack's "feature" command to mark the caverns as "undiscovered" once you've discovered them.
How would I remove the floor moss/fungus?

Delete them from the raws.

I think you can also get husked after becoming a necromancer.  You could presumably get all three by going werebeast->necromancer->husk.

You just couldn't do it in any other order.

Would you keep husk abilities in were-creature form?

Their skills also never increase, either.

They still gain skill, just not physical attributes.

Also, it's not +200, it's 200% of strength, agility, and toughness. The third argument is the flat change, at 0.
Wait, really? Holy crap. I need to get to work on my vampire fortress.

it's been done, though eventually everything slows down horribly because no vampire drinks booze and they stop working as hard. Well, as far as I remember.

I find that my dwarves don't actually do anything in regards to healthcare.  They have a hospital.  A chief medical dorf, several diagnosticians and all that goodness.  But they just man up and slap some duct tape over the stump, and keep on rolling.
Because that's how MEN do it, without worry over poncy things like INFECTIONS or SURVIVAL RATES.

Whether they will or not destroy something from below seems somewhat arbitrary. I think if there's a way they could path to the grate on a level plane they can destroy it. If they can't theoretically get to it a diferent way they can't destroy it (is my understanding, so I may be wrong.).

Not bad. The only one of those stories I've read is Arena, which I found to be an interesting read. I though the omnipotent entity seemed kinda malicious - if it has the power to commit genocide, it could have easily prevented the two warring races from coming into contact. Instead it decides that absolute genocide is the best alternative. Maybe it was a Dwarf Fortress player.

If the floodgate was blocked by a fish or something it may not have shut, and the dorfs may have been lazy and not pulled the lever, so it never shut. Shut floodgates cannot have water going through them.

I usually create vampire oubliette* for these suckers (har har!).  My current fort had two of them in there when a minor tantrum spiral hit, and now they are both stricken by a never-ending melancholy.  I can't imagine a better fate.

*oubliette - a pit to put people into to forget about them.  I learned that from the movie Labyrinth  ;D

Been six days since the last ==week== update.
Any life on the hive queen front?

Should we make things clearer so that another update is written?
Probably for the best.

So in agreement?
 Construct a large, square building out of wattle-and-daub over the entrance to the tunnels, etc. The roof would be made from straw (a thatched roof). While the workers do that, a few groups of soldiers can gather rocks.
Lay a clutch of workers.
Next week, expand the farms so we don't all starve to death.
