No. It was talked about, but IIRC they didn't decide to put it into this next update.

Call me stupid, but I've forgotten by IIRC is an acronym for. What does it stand for?

If I Remember Correctly

Ah, yes. Thank you.

Don't just go through a thesaurus though. You can often tell when people do that, and it looks terrible. Make sure any metaphors or similies are appropiate - if you're writing a medieval fantasy don't write that someone hits like a train, for example.

while I can't back it up with data, I have the feeling that ambushes and sieges take time to travel to you, so that when you cross the pop or wealth requirement it might take some time for them to arrive. The closer they are, the shorter. To mention again: no proof

Thats coming in the next update, actually, AFAIK. They appear instaneously at your fort and disappear for all eternity as soon as they step off the map at the moment.

Not sure you shoukld really bother with breastplates. I always found they were really heavy and yet surprisingly ineffective. Chainmail seems to be superior in ever way. If you really want them to have shaped torso armour, dye some leather armour so they have a coordinated colour scheme or something. Leather armour doesn't really do anything either, but at least it's lighter.

Ballista bolts travel a far distance, and remember that ballista operators are civvies - if the enemy get within (maybe 10?) a certain amount of tiles they'll cut and run. So make sure to take that into account. others can probabl;y tell you more about ballista.

Rutherers are large, powerful, and have lots of meat.

"Why the fuck is the booze stored in a lead barrel?"

To be fair, storing drinking liquids in lead things has a historical precedent. Pretty much every house in Europe had lead pipes before they moved on to copper.

Useless unless you can induce ejaculation.

:)

All about the pressure-inducing pumpstacks.

Your avatar and personal text makes it so much worse (better?).

My dwarves seem to dislike headwear intensely. As a natural consequence, they must dislike having faces not lodged within their own craniums.

DF Suggestions / Re: Fort Standard Bearer, and Dwarven Horns
« on: December 19, 2012, 12:33:32 pm »
Flags could work somewhat like making memorial slabs. First you make a plain flag, which can be constructed or wielded. A flag would take a unit of cloth and a spear - metal or wooden. Then a dyer can dye insignia on to a flag: the flag of squads, your civ or your group of dwarves (and maybe later guilds, if they get reintroduced). Dwarves who like tradition could get a good though from seeing a built flag of your civ beyond that of the dwarves who don't, though they could also get an unhappy thought from seeing a flag construction toppled "...Urist's nation was disrespected lately."

Flags could be toppled by level 1 building destroyers, so they really aren't very durable. Flags not of your civ or group of dwarves can also be built as trophies. Seeing trophies gives dwarves a happy thought "...was impressed by the might of [civ] recently" or somesuch.

I don't think you can. It only takes four logs to build a windmill, so it shouldn't be too much effort to throw one up.

Spikes on a thong? Kinky.

That said, studded with iron sounds pretty uncomfortable.

Make it a surface farm fort, with large fields outside the walls of a surface settlement. Have all dwarves living above ground, though they can have cellars to store things in. Grow longland grass as wheat and only get stone from a quarry - if at all.

A fun little challenge. You'll want a good few patrolling militay dwarves protecting a large amount of farmers.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Giant Sponges vs. Zombies
« on: December 13, 2012, 04:13:40 pm »
Sponges can die from suffocation and being crushed under a mountain.
That is it.

Sponges are functionally immortal. Zombies will be left in shattered heaps in front of them.

Of course, if you get a zombie giant sponge then you are buggered - unless you have a cave in trap prepared.
