Probably because Valve is nice. If I remember correctly portal was free for some time.

Anyone want a free copy of Frozen Synapse? First to message me with their steam name can have it.

Edit: SirAaronIII gets it!

I wonder if there is a way to mathematically predict the happy thread. There seems to be a few recurring topics, mostly weight and post count.

Anyway 6 foot 1 inch for me, about 155 pounds I fluctuate between giant and normal sized compared to other people depending on what town I'm in.

Because tanks have problems climbing stairs inside buildings. Also tanks have problems with buildings, say if you want to get somebody inside and still have the building around to capture.

I mean rubble is nice and all but it's not all that useful from protecting you against the wrath of the civilians whose house you blew into tiny pieces along with their captive children.

I think that sticking to one or two (or no more than five) games in each week would be better than 15 for a year. You've already bought these games, so if you don't play them at all, instead having little fun with games you've tired of, you're not really improving anything. Weekly could maximize both fun and focus, as well as letting you try out different games. Right now it looks like you're selecting games based on the amount of time you can spend on their many different elements, which shouldn't be the focus of a project attempting to only play certain games. That's my opinion, though - this is your project.

Too lazy to read everything cause I'm abooot to play New Vegas, which I just got, but I would reccomend either playing whatever game suits your fancy at any given time, or rotate them out a little more than 10 a year. I mean, there's 12 months in a year, so you'd be playing any one game for over a month each.

Right I did the math on this and decided that this is a much better idea, and accomplishes about the same thing. Hmmm that makes this thread rather pointless, should I lock it or is there discussion that could come out of this still?

I read this article (about board games) and the idea stuck.

I've bought too many games that I've never played and even worse I can't seem to stop playing one game for 2 hours or so and then switching to a different game for another 2 hours and so on and so on. So I'm going to come up with a list of 10 games and only play these games for a year.

The list so far:
  • Minecraft - the obvious choice, so many mods, lots of play time etc.
  • Dwarf Fortress - Duh.
  • Skyrim - open world exploring and lots of mods.
  • Planetside 2 - not out yet but I plan to play this
  • Arma 2/Dayz - Shooting things isn't fun unless if you can die in one shot!
  • Grand theft auto 4 - Haven't beat this game on PC yet and the screwing around potential is limitless.
  • Crusader Kings 2
  • Stalker - Shadow of Chernoble - Because I love dieing a lot!

I need suggestions, preferably long games that I haven't played before.

Questions? There a topic about this that I couldn't find? (my search-fu is weak) Bets on how long I'll last? Want to post your own list?

Splinter cell conviction is $5.

There's a Tom Clancy pack for $40 although it seems to switch between the two on the main page.

Yes I felt stupid after posting that, I should think things through a little bit before posting.

So your saying that a drop pod like cannon launcher would work? First we'd have to make sure that the heat from forcing their way out of the atmosphere doesn't cook the passengers alive. Or flatten them to the floor from moving to fast.

Well, we'd better start planning a Mars-Earth pipeline.

I wonder how actually feasible this is. You know for my futurama style interplanetary traveling tubes business.

Picnic bench is best table?

I've actually played all of the games I've gotten in the steam sale for at least 3 hours each! Maybe I've learned financial responsibility?

Is wings of prey and horde worth the bundle? I don't own any of the games in it.

Have you tried switching around what download server you're on? That can usually speed things up.

If anyone else is having download speed related sadness you can use this to check the server loads.

Bought legend of Grimrock! 20 kb/sec download speeds make me so sad, it's like I'm back in dial up world, although it's still almost 7x faster than my dial up was...
