On wildlife spawns:
I'd actually like something a bit more meta-game...  When you clear out an area of zombies you could access a menu and 'assess surroundings' and get a message 'the dead seem to be truly dead...' or 'there still seem to be shamblings nearby...' to indicate that the nearby X map tiles are (not) clear.  If enough are clear, then you can declare a safehouse, and there wouldn't be any animal spawns within X * 1.5 radius and it would later enable things like NPC wanderers, zombie migration events, overmap fast-travel, etc...

So as an example, you find a small town, and it has some sort of 50 zombie population.
You kill 20, and assess surroundings, get the message 'this area is still hostile'.
You kill all 50, and assess surroundings, get the message 'the area is secure'.
Bears and whatever still spawn.
You claim one map tile as a Safehouse, because a radius of 10 tiles are empty of zombie population.
Bears and whatever will not spawn in a 15 tile radius now.

When NPCs and such are more fleshed, then this could turn into a fortified base, with farming and rain collection going on.
I like that idea, but what about Zombies that might wander in.

There is nothing sad about it; it is indicative of the stupidity one must possess to sink to such racist and bigoted levels. I personally find it hilarious.

Just got my new joystick and I want to increase the number of games I can fly planes in. Pew-pew is optional, but preferred.
I'm using a PC, Win7 and I should be able to run most things.
thanks. :D

The Ignited Forest. At least that's not literal.
It's your Dwarven Duty to change that.
Alright, I'm sigging that.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your best artifact ever

larimyam, neoyawned the candy shield. worth around 1400000 DB. it had a picture of a cloud made of candy on it.

two candy wafers for a shield is a solid deal considering most candy shield cost 4 wafers.

i believe it will have a poor shield charge attack, but great defensive capabilities due to candy being the strongest material in the game.

An artifact steel (or other heavy material) shield is better, since all artifact shields block 3x more than a normal shield, but you can't really bash things with candy shields. Also, all shields are indestructible and can block anything.
I disagree.
Light shields slow down your dwarves far less. You need a balance between offensive and light.

I find it increasingly hard to care about labour.
At least the coalitions reaction is amusing.

Also we appreciate all the word spreading that you guys can do about the kickstarter. The more people that see the kickstarter, the more funding we get! :D
As chief of fun games from the cracks in the internet amongst my friends, I'll get pitching.

All I can offer is this bit of advice: against armoured opponents, war animals are useless.
Provided you have a solid breeding stock to replace the casualties, using them to supplement your troops against forgotten beasts is a good idea. I can only provide anecdotal evidence for  that though.
