DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Bugs or features?

Thanks, Deathworks.

quote:
Roads are not buildings, thus you can't 'q' them. But when you use 't' (I think) on a road, you can then undo the suspension by pressing 's'.

Ah... I'll have to try that.

quote:
According to the wiki, coins need to be made of the normal coin metals. Even though you could make brass coins, they wouldn't count.

I used silver to make the coins, so I assume that's the right stuff.

quote:
The first nobles (bookmaper, manager) seem to appear after the dwarven caravan has verified the state of your fortress. So, be patient, they may eventually show up.

I've had a few caravans arrive, but obviously without the road, they just trudge in with their mules. Do you mean that I need the road first, which would allow the actual caravan to come to the depot, and then the nobles will come?

DF Gameplay Questions / Bugs or features?

Howdy all. I've come across a couple of things that have stumped me:

* I've painted down a road, it gets 'suspended', and there doesn't appear to be anything I can do to either cancel it and start again, or figure out exactly what the problem is. I've turned every single dwarf into an architect, but still nothing. Just sits there flashing.

* I've minted something like 20 stacks of coins, but the bookkeeper still hasn't arrived. What else needs to happen?

* I have around 40 dwarves with a ton of workshops, but the Manager still hasn't arrived. Am I missing something? Is this related to the road or something? Are these bugs?

I've looked through the wiki and can't find any answers, so any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, all.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Crash at embarking?

Problem solved. Deleted the old folder, created a new DF folder, then generated a new world. All's well.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Crashes on embark in fortress mode. Tried creating a new world, same problem. Adventure mode works fine.

Any ideas? I'm not sure how much longer I can put up with everyone else having a good time but me.

(I'm on a rock solid, patched up XP system, with an Intel dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 8800GTX graphics.)

DF General Discussion / Re: New version UI

Thanks, Turgid. You don't sound harsh. I've just started visiting the forum and have only seen new features being discussed recently, rather than the interface. Glad to hear it's a 'known' issue.

DF General Discussion / New version UI

Hey all, quick question about the new version: will the UI get any attention?

Personally, I'd rather see some tweaks to the interface rather than a lot of the other changes that are being discussed...
