http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2DI0k9NOIc&feature=BFa&list=PL79ED2A5C9154FF61&lf=mh_lolz Holy crap thats a long URL lol.
Makes sence because most of my forts end in Tantrum spirles and have bodys EVERYWERE.

Hm, I clicked that link expecting Drowning Pool, lovely song nonetheless. It has to be the first Dragonforce song I've heard that doesn't sound like every other Dragonforce song I've heard.

For my current fortress...

Believe it or not, before posting this thread, I hesitated for a moment, and said to myself, "Necro's anthem will be the MLP theme".

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Your Fortress Anthem
« on: October 21, 2011, 02:16:48 pm »
While battling Necro910 and his relentless pony forces a while back, i had a realization. That, once completed, Aztec Two Step will be the the perfect theme song for Gorerape the Massive Malicious Maze of Death. The sound of immense torment and hate echoing throughout the halls of the DeathMaze, and the towering center keep, as the walls are coated with the blood of my opponents, and dwarves rush about to reset traps and pull levers would seem incredibly fitting.

This got me thinking about what the anthem might be for the fortresses of other overseers. So, imagine, if you will, what piece of music would be the most fitting as the official anthem for your current fortress, past fortress, or your fortresses in general, and why.
I look forward to your replies. They should be most interesting.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwarves Crippled in Duty

Yes! Tragic, crippling accidents just build character! If they're still able to do what they used to before the accident, i don't bother reassigning them. I don't have the heart to tell the elderly Urist Mclongtimemilitiacommander that he's been removed from service just because a goblin got a lucky hit last siege.

What would worry me is that this honestly just seems like a watered down version of similar games meshed into one. Even if the game does get finished, and it's something enjoyable to play, less complexity means less possibilities.

Lazy Newb Pack

Just download, extract, and double-click exe. Phobeus is the best texture pack out there, too.

That man has the voice of a god.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Question about starting set up.

I...I have no idea what I start with...

It's probably because i always embark with a different idea of what I'm going to be trying for that fort, and build my starting seven's skills/supplies around that.

If i recall correctly, I do normally start out with one crafter, who is basically a novice in all types of crafting(including working with glass and clay), 2 miners, at least one of which doubles as a mason or architect, and a chef, who is my brewer/cook. Sometimes i will also bring someone with a weapon and combat skill for my future militia commander as well.

....What makes you think they're related?
Well, when then boy dorf makes baby with the girl dorfs, then the same thing happens with the next generation, that is what's called incest (or as 4chan calls it, wincest).

Sorry to rain on the incest parade, but the arrival of migrants will probably fuck that up.

However, if your very first fort actually survives long enough for the second generation to enter adulthood, i shall be very impressed.

EDIT: Damn, khearn beat me to it.

Start small, no more than squads of three or five, as it will help you get used to managing a military force. Preferably melee, since marksdwarf squads are a little more complicated, in my opinion.

Once you get a hang of the basics, it won't be long before you're drafting dozens of little smileys and marching them all off to their deaths.

Frendly gobbies attack ambushers, gobby snatchers and siegers.

Okay, but how do i know which ones are friendly? I would say they all seem pretty determined to fertilize the local soil with dwarf blood.

They come with caravans and as diplomats and not as a vile farce of dorkness.

Ah, well I don't think I shall be encountering any friendly goblins any time soon, then.

Reincarnated dwarves, you say? That does sound like the type of shenanigans Armok would pull...
