Play With Your Buddies / Re: Let's Play Aurora! Colony Wars

Posting to watch. I'm assuming this is separate from the multiplayer game you're involved in on the Aurora forums?

Our computers have 200MB of hard drive space.
That's only just enough to hold all of my work for digital graphics, and that's with compressing everything that I'm not currently using into zip folders.

Were you computers manufactured before or after 1995? Seriously, my first computer, that I had in 2003, had 40 GB of space I believe.

I just hope they make it an actual "Sim City", instead of the steaming pile of crap that was Societies.

Begin looking in inconspicuous or concealed areas for password hints.

"Let's see if we can find a way to get this door wedged open. Think sticking one of the chairs in might be a good idea?"

I wouldn't be too sure, I've seen some pretty weird buildings I wouldn't go near if my life depended on it. You tend to see stuff like that when you spend to much time in Jersey like I do.

Well... turns out Werebeasts use NIGHT_CREATURE_X for their naming convention. That's interesting. But at least I made an instant were-something spell that works!

Sorry to drag back something from a while back, but would you mind posting how you did this? I'm trying to do something similar, and I'm stuck with where to go after getting the interactions out of the save file.

Okay, I am an idiot, I just remembered that you can set your saves to be uncompressed in the init files. Doing so now.

When opening the world DAT file in notepad, all I seem to be getting is a bunch of random characters. And I'm not seeing a paste special option.
Nevermind, I was using regular notepad instead of notepad++.
Edit: I still can't get the data to show up as anything other than random junk.

DF Modding / A minor question
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:41:20 am »
I have a small question. I am trying to access some of the werebeast interactions, and from what I understand they are generated upon world creation and can be found inside the world's save file. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access the uncompressed file. Anybody have any pointers?
