"A guest position is enough, as I can't imagine I'll stay long enough to enroll."

I almost forgot, but also send astropathic messages to check how Port Wander are Footfall are, and if we can contact the Navy's ships this side of the Maw.

"This is dire."

Casslan to 5-5, unequip Hatchet and guard Orf.

Marco salutes her back out of politesse—and maybe a bit of habit due to his Schola days that hadn't been too far ago—before he relaxes. "That's correct. Would it be possible?"

Sure he'd been to an academy but thanks to his siblings' meddling he'd ended up with a course that made it harder to be a proper battlefield commander. The gall..

"You're next!" Claude shouted, pointing his sword at the other Shade.

After the Windcaller is dead and Claude is healed: Claude to O-13, Mage Masher Shade B into goo as well!

"We shall talk later then. Having been asked to solve this peacefully, I will take sides as a last effort. If or when that happens, I hope we can have productive talks, Trader Rouri."

With his conversation with the Trader done, he moves on to the next matter: some honest talk with the Governor. ++I'll preface this with the obvious disclaimer that in case it happens to be a private matter then you need not mention it, but the reason I have contacted with you a private line is because I want to keep this conversation limited at most to me and my First Officer, Governor-General.++

++Now, since this might interfere in the mediation effort, is anyone from your family involved in the current events?++
Polite but direct. At least Fasilides is far  easier to talk to than his fellow Traders.

I figured I might as well post some updates from the commissions since not everyone's on Discord:

I don't expect you to, honestly. The part about showing the resulting die roll isn't even necessary since I just like double-checking; the most important part is knowing when there's been a roll and the DoF/DoS so we can know when to re-roll, for example.

"With the Maw closed off, it was but bad fortune that both of you ended up in the same side of the passage. I have heard you are a talented pilot yourself; I steered the Ark Royal through the Warp myself this last trip, but I admit to not being a particularly talented pilot or helmsman. What about your recent accomplishments?"

Maybe the fact they were both pilots and the fact the Lord-Captain had just safely steered the cruiser through the lightless Warp would spark the desire to boast about his own achievements and adventures on Guest Rouri.

Other things:
1) Order more thorough (focused) auguries of the planet, avoiding the fortress complex itself for obvious etiquette. It's also a great excuse to scan the area indicated to us by the Eldar.
2) Spend free time watching the troop movements to learn about a bit more about combined arms warfare.
3) See if we can establish a private comms channel with Governor-General so we can talk about more sensitive things. Like whether his daughter is currently in danger.

As for Symonne, "Look into these talented locals the Traders have recruited, and/or see if any of the Traders have any close allies or lovers, old or new. The Governor's daughter might be disguised."

I think it bears mentioning again, but if any ally following Marco's orders (like Symonne) ends up rolling for a test while doing their thing, feel free to claim the +10 from Exceptional Leader.

I'm running out of ideas. Also, it does hit me that Triggvaldr might be interested in the fact we're dealing with Eldar. Plus I was talking to Sirus over Discord about how his apparently unnatural charisma might be the result of that xeno-modification, like pheromone glands for example. Just theories for now.

Edit: as an extra note Stirk, when there's tests could we get a spoiler pointing out there were rolls and the result? I ask only because it's good to double-check results.

Was it ever fired at least, even if not during battle? Or used for intimidation? 👀

Has anyone ever played in a RT game with a ship that had a nova cannon? I'm actually curious now since that thing's so expensive both to purchase and maintain that it seems to be the rarest type of combat component to ever be used.

And I remembered finding availability for Crew somewhere, and as it happens it was in the core rulebook.
Quote from: Core Rulebook, pg.226
Restoring Crew Population can only occur at a planet inhabited by humans. The captain can make an Acquisition Test to restore his Crew Population to maximum, hiring  on  new crew members from among the locals. The availability of the crew should be considered Common (+20), though this can depend on the world. A hive world may have a large enough population that crew are considered Abundant (+50), while an isolated outpost may put a premium on manpower (Scarce or even Rare). The GM can choose to add bonuses or penalties due to the scale and quality (craftsmanship) of the crew being hired as well. Failure, of course, means the Explorers must look elsewhere for their crew. See page 271 for more information.

(...)

No attempts to restore a starship’s Crew Population or Morale can increase these values above the starship’s maximum Crew Population or Morale values. Any Acquisition Tests made to restore Crew Population or Morale do not count against the number of Acquisitions an Explorer may make in a game session.

Marco gives Symmone a stern look. "First Officer, if the order given allows you to exercise discretion, then it is exactly because I trust you to know better than to give me a shoe size unless you have found a way to leverage that information into an advantage during a negotiation."

"If you desire a starting point, see how the Governor's daughter fits into all of this and if there is any information about Triggvaldr having any sort of bodily alteration or improvement, or showing superhuman capabilites, as well as any offworld enemies and rivals he might have."
he adds with a sigh.

"Oh, my apologies. Thank you for your interest in contributing your assistance as an equal participant. We've had a lot of volunteers, but no Traders yet."

So apparently it had been a misunderstanding. Good thing too, since Marco had been just about to contact the Governor again and ask if a peaceful solution is really necessary.

++Is there any reason for the Trader who brought you here not to have joined your cause? Have they left before the conflict began, perhaps?++

Be a good listener. He's totally a real Trader too. If he's too busy and/or it doesn't seem like there's any intel to be had, just have small talk, close off the comms and  deal with the matters of resupply until we can get the raptor corpse clone to bring both Traders to the negotiation table.

"First Officer, we'll need as much information on the other Traders as possible for future negotiations. Especially when it comes to Triggvaldr."

Xeno debauchery will result in a long walk out of a short airlock.

Another thing I forgot to ask is if the local specialties have any bonus to the acquisition test or if the ease of finding those is already covered by the alternate side quests for failure cases.

Also the current commission has reached 7 warships. I have no brakes.
