I think you owe some people an apology. The tone of your posts was very rude and you've since demonstrated that you were talking about a different issue than everyone else.

I've seen this same behavior in many games. To reproduce it
-hold down shift
-press a direction
-release shift
-release the direction

To undo it, tap that direction a few times.

It may not be a DF bug, since this is pretty widespread.

They move ridiculously fast and are hard to stop in fortress mode, but I adventured with one the other day and headbutted a cyclops into unconsciousness, so it evens out.

Dwarven bread is what's been killing me. I CANNOT get a working reaction. The smelter doesn't handle any kind of extracts, for the most part, and I can't even get it to use cave wheat leaves (the plain harvested sort). I could just make a plain stone-only reaction, but.. there's hardly any point in that, I'd know it was a sham. -.-

On the upside, my last fort mined out a couple of treacle veins. But again, due to smelter limitations, I can't turn it into syrup, and I can't make it auto-cookable as a mineral. -.- I managed to get a working fat reaction, though, so you can mine out fat and turn it into elephant tallow. ;D

That is awesome  :D
Perhaps a stone to flour-like-substance reaction would be close enough?

Any enterprising modders feel like taking up this challenge?

I'd suggest that it still leaves you some choice, but the most appropriate one is selected by default if you want to save keystrokes.

Also, I think current garment making system is really irritating. If someone makes a second-rate or fifth-rate police uniform, they should be trying again until they get it right.

Curses / Corin's Mystery Massacre (spoilers)
« on: December 20, 2007, 01:49:00 am »
Ok. here is what I think i know so far.

-Protect the bouncing commas
-Capture enemy generators
-Link them to your generators by placing them on the dots that appear a knight move away from your generators
-Your bouncing commas generate power
-Shooting enemies generates power
-destroy all enemies to fight the sector boss
-the next sector is harder

code:

Build command      Function
Q                   weapon
W                   turret
E                   basic soldier
A                   wall
D                   general
Z                   flier (will attack on its own)
C                   upgrade (one of several)

There are three kinds of upgrades.
1. Attack power (yellow triangles)
2. Defense (red diamonds) (i might have the attack and defense mixed up)
3. Leadership (multicolored yen symbols)

The leadership applies the special attributes of that color to your units - possibly more so to your generals than your fliers.

Quote from: Toady

Black (flashing gray) -- steals life
Dark Blue - I'm really not sure, maybe a melee damage bonus given the names
Dark Green - melee poison I think, hit people take extra damage over time
Dark Cyan - temp speed bursts at random intervals
Dark Red - immolation (fire damage during combat, possibly a small range to it)
Dark Magenta - life draining at a distance, I think, maybe
Brown - extra hit points
Light Gray - ranged bullet weapon
Dark Gray - armor
Light Blue - I'm really not sure, maybe a melee damage bonus given the names
Light Green - regeneration
Light Cyan - permanent speed bonus
Yellow - electrical field (like immolation)
White - heal nearby units

It is possible to make a unit that flashes a different color by using linked generators, but I haven't found the benefit of this.
Also, toady said that the auxiliary colors for the weapon don't make a difference.

If anyone else is playing this game, please help me out on this  :)

I dont know...   if the jury flashes me a SECRET LIBERAL HAND SIGNAL and my sleeper lawyer with 10 law skill claims the defendant was abducted from prison...

I noticed in 309 that defending yourself gains law skill, but a sleeper lawyer cant seem to train it.  :o

!!! That just gave me an idea.
You should be able to have your liberals run for president. If they win, they would naturally appoint judges from among your side whenever one steps down.

So when were you planning to post some spoilers, toady? ;)

You can use disguise when in the red, but not nearly as well.

Music is capped by heart x2. No matter what their heart is, the cap won't be an odd number. I only have liberals with 9+ heart, so the cap wouldn't be that low in any case.

Ive noticed that sometimes I get liberals who cant get more than 5 music skill, no matter how much training is applied (other getting trained to twenty-something) or how much they use music in combat.

Not just the homeless shelter. Nobody should be able to set foot out of their home without a constant reminder that the LCS is fighting for their liberty!

Could the map be altered to show areas that are already tagged by the LCS?

EA can eat the companies - a company is basically a piece of paper in the end, but it can't eat the game makers!
