How about this:

It is rumored that at the center of the great spire lies the greatest of the ash creatures, Nimhogg, who at the end of the world will break free of it's prison and eat the sun. The orbiting giants will battle with Nimhogg and slay it, tearing the sun out of it's stomach and using it's body to fuel it for the next age. It's bones will be used to rebuild the world, it's spine will rebuild the spire, and it's eye will be sealed inside it, trapping it until it is once again reborn, and ragnarok will begin again.

((Slightly more grimdark version of the rebirth story. Added eternal cycle of ragnarok.))

There exists a nomadic sub-race of elves called ash elves, who sail the sea on ships made of the bones of the dead. They normally prey on the ash creatures, but frequently attack coastal settlements to drag their inhabitants into the sea to be eaten.

Some dwarves believe that the inevitable doom can be delayed by blood sacrifices.

The underground is littered with an extremely valuable metal, that is believed to have fallen from the sun. Dwarves have made several expeditions to find the source.

In the middle of the largest group of islands lies a huge obsidian spire that extends all the way to the sun.

This setting is slightly disturbing.

PTW

Edit: The ash sea is filled with the souls of the dead, whose siren songs drive men on the coast insane.

I don't get how people think they can determine it's shit before they've even played it
we live in a time of plentiful and freely available high definition internet video streaming, judging games without playing them is simpler than ever

I was more talking about how people were predicting it to be shit before it was released. I probably phrased that wrong.

The gameplay doesn't look very dumbed down either, the "magic powers" are completely optional and can also be disabled, and you don't even have a sword. I doubt that the game could cater less to the CoD crowd than it currently does. I honestly don't get how people can honestly say that this game is shit, hell, I don't get how people think they can determine it's shit before they've even played it.

I'm watching a short playthrough RIGHT NOW and everything interactable is lit up like a christmas tree. Garett specifically says, "This switch is practically invisible" for a stone sticking very clearly out of a stone wall about three inches. It's also lit up and you can press a button to have the screen automatically snap to it.

Arrows are floating in the air, not even in a lying down position as if they missed the surface they might have been on, but at a diagonal pointing at the sky. Guards get hung up on terrain. Guards stand, red eye above the head, directly in front of you with nothing in between you and them, not moving. You can just stare them down, like a moron. "Wirecutters" in big red letters hover over things you need wirecutters for when you don't have them. It's not even a wire but a blank metal slab.

From what i've seen, they've added options to remove most of the helpers you've mentioned. Seriously, they've added options for everything.

Well, the pc port is completely without bad graphics, optimization and controls. It's well optimized, the fov slider goes above 100, it has some rather large levels (like the hub level, which is huge), and no weapon wheel. The only problem in the port is that it has a context sensitive jump button. The difficulty can be adjusted from l33t to fricking hardcore "get spotted and you have to start a new game" levels.

You know, I actually thought it looked pretty good on TB's WTF is... It does look like it solves most of the hardcore crowds gripes with the preview, and it has a good port.

Don't hit me

I took the test again, and it seems like I'm right between The Guardian and The Protector.
