Masterwork DF / Re: Can't get 8x12 ascii to work no matter what I do
« on: February 03, 2017, 11:07:06 pm »
Yeah same problem. I want to use Grimdark tileset but because there isn't a TWBT for Grimdark, it always gets overwritten by something else.

It will work if you turn creature sprite on but then you'll get some creatures (including dwarves) converted to the default graphical sprite, which looks like Phoebus.

Its worth it to process any ore, the difference between say hematite and process_hematite...
hematite has 4 tries at 1% for 1 orichalcum bar, and 4 irons bars when smelted.
processing the hematite gives you 1 pure hematite, 25% chance for 1 granite boulder, and 3% chance for 1 rock crystal.
smelting the pure hematite gives you 4 tries at 2% for 1 orichalcum bar, 4 tries at 25% for 1 iron bar and 4 iron bars automatic.
basically one step and you easily are increasing your average return rate to 5 iron bars with a possibility of 8 iron bars and increasing your chance of orichalcum.
Thanks, that's a great break down.

My dwarf turned into a werechameleon, and then his heart started melting and bleeding "plant matter", and then he died. What is going on

Edit: I just noticed it isn't even a full-moon. It isn't even night at all
I don't know but that sounds..  extremely excruciating.

Does anyone know how effective is ore processor? Is it worth processing every single ore in early embark?

I just reintsall Masterwork because I can't figure out how to fix the strange TWBT behaviour.

If I run TWBT successfully with a graphical tileset, then I delete the save and switch to 2D mode with creature sprite turned off, I'm still stuck with a TWBT display, even if I delete the TWBT dll files manually. Only when I turn on creature sprite in 2D mode will I get the correct tileset back, and even then I won't get to see creatures displayed as ASCII because the creature sprite is retrieved elsewhere.

It seems I can't switch back and forth TWBT and 2D as I please.

You won't know everything about yourself, but one thing you will repeat over and over, is to be honest about your feelings and thinking as soon as they arise. Acknowledge whatever comes to your mind and ask yourself the really tough questions of where they come from and why.

"Well, it's been a good run, guys. Tholtig, grab the booze. Time for one last drink."

WWUD if he put that line in a play?
He will publish the play as a book before his fortress is overrun by the circus. Many years later an adventurer will discover the book from the ruins of where its author once thrived.

WWUD as a ghost if he sees his own book being taken away?

2318: You see words like "designation", "mandate" in real life context but you can't help inserting dwarves into the imagery.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: January 29, 2017, 03:52:09 am »
I was scanning through my latest migant wave of 33 dwarves (all 33 in one wave bloody hell) for vampire prevention. There are dwarves with previous kills on other dwarves, so instinctively I selected those out for the hunger/thirst test in a burrow. Turned out they all get thirsty like a normal dwarf should, so I let them out. A while later though a fight broke out in the meeting hall. There might have been some loyalty cascade going on among the 33 migrants before they even came to my fort - one of my vampire suspects got punched dead and other dwarves continue to get occasional job cancellation from taunting attacks.

Despite popular condescension, the right sub-Reddit community can open you up to more like-minded people going through similar struggles as you do, or a lot more helpful advices. /r/DecidingToBeBetter, /r/KindVoice to name a few, or any /r/[insert hobby name here].

Books are also a good source and you don't have to read the whole thing. Seek the ones that sound like it might have a chapter or a few pages that answer your questions.

However before you do all that, you have to know what questions you have first, which means knowing yourself, as Tiruin said. Fumbling through sources that don't really address your concerns will add more burden to you than lifting it.

The roleplay in this post is hilarious. May I be dorfed with anything please?

27
I just caught up too. Not only is evictedSaint a fantastic artist for starting this comic, everyone's replies have been hilarious.

28
Just caught up. Damn that dragon fire really tore everything apart ever since.

29
I only just started reading this and haven't caught up everything, but after reading the quotes collection, I'm pleasantly surprised that even an attempt at a fort with a perfectly peaceful goal, faces similar madness as Boatmurdered.

I would love to be dwarfed if there is room. I'll take any female dwarf. If I catch up to the entire story in time, I might even give overseer a try, but not confident for now yet, no idea what's going on with the fort now...

How do you make ink to write with? Documentation said it's craftsdwarf but I can't find the reaction in craftsdwarf workshop.
