Personally, I feel like modding in cobalt, it's a nice color.

So, I feel like making a noble's rooms entirely out of slade, who should get it. Slade isn't worth much, so it should really be a lesser noble, but it should really match their job description.

Of course. The elves aren't the only ones who get pissed off when you clear-cut a forest.

949
Interesting. Duly noted.

Hm... Just skimming the raws here, but it looks like it's generally broken up into sentients, predators, and grazers. I believe the predators will try to eat almost anything, most grazers will try to run from everything, and most sentients will try to burn everything to the ground.

You could always dig out all of the ice in winter and floor/pave over areas that you'd prefer to stay (relatively) waterless.

How does one extract from a Forgotten Beast, exactly?

You are a terrible person.

I have learned, quite conclusively, that slade can be used for blocks and furniture, as well as stone crafts. Whether moody dwarves will request it is still unknown, but in theory it should be possible. This also means that nobles mandating slade furniture no longer need to die. Usually.

Well, one of my craftdwarves just tried making a slade pot, but I stopped him because slade is rather hard to come by with my current level of miner skill. I will, however, be making a slade door. I feel like it shall be perfect for my prison.

Update:

Turns out that I was slightly over-complicating matters by using sub-par miners. You can, in fact, get slade by simply channeling up into the floor above. That being said, I have a new, well-off fort and I've cleared out the undead and hatched over the glowing floor, so I can release the clowns one or two at a time for training purposes later. I am officially ready to start my slade studies in full.

10x10 farm plot? Good lord. I've been feeding my whole fortress on less than 40 tiles of plump helmets and the like. (Well, that, and a LOT of Forgotten Beast meat/tallow.)

If I go ahead and give everyone a "uniform" of basic leather armor and leftover metal stuff, is there any actual benefit to supplying them with cloth or silk garments as well? Can you get happy thoughts from silk garments, or from high-quality ones (regardless of type)?

Wait, does that make me weird, even by DF standards? I always dig out 6 10x10 farm plots on embark and set each to a different underground plant... Then I usually end up setting one for each above-ground crop and channeling out above them to expose them to the light.

Looter! Kill him with redwater!
If he does not carry a bag in his inventory1 and isn't going towards your gold/platinum/adamantine/high-value/quality item stockpiles, then said elf is not, repeat, NOT a looter.

ThatAusieGuy has shown that caravans will exit through HFS if it's a viable map edge.
Them elves are goin' to Hell anyway  :P
Be it literally, or through the loss of his unprotected2 life.

1No, saying that his pack animals have bags, barrels or bins is also NOT an excuse. (and besides, the elf entry in the entity_default.txt lacks the [ITEM_THIEF] tag. This should be hard-coded to keep them from stealing stuff)

2Not saying that your candy-clad legendary +5 axedwarfs won't defend them (though I know you'll make them kill pointlessly murder the innocent, helpless Elven traders)

Come now, I thought I've made it quite clear that while I scorn, kill, and even enslave elven men, I am quite..."good" to their women.

That's basically what I figured, but I really wasn't expecting to see a single elf calmly ambling through the spoiler house.

I...uh, I was checking over my current military conquest of the underground structure, and I saw a random elf merchant and his pack animals wandering around among the corpses... He seems like he knows what he's doing, so I guess I'll just leave him to it for now...
