DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Holy Crap Minecarts (Devlog Quote)
« on: April 08, 2012, 01:07:56 pm »
Would it be rude if I asked
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is even a bigger update than the Valentine one! Sure it gave us unkillable husks and elf blood rain, but HAULING OVERHAUL AND MINECARTS?  b**** please!
Finally my apartheid Fort will be a realistic project! Tantrum spirals will be just another Dwarf burgeois amusement!

if the carts are rideable, then they could be a good armoured-train-style sentry patrolling with high speeds on your walls and field, ridden by legendary marksdwarfs
they would be uncatchable flak machines if run by waterpower
a picture that I had in mind

is there any way to disable the nakedness negative thought in the files?
I have a nice fort going on from the 06 version and when I updated, everytime tantrum spirals in the first month into the game.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Aquifers now nigh-unbreachable?
« on: March 29, 2012, 12:49:58 pm »
just don't embark on a flat terrain with very deep soil and an aquifer, possibly a big river
That can get up to 12 layers

It's always good to have some cliffs on the map, so that some rock penetrates the surface and you can use it for digging into the mother earth

Sounds like necrosis, dose his screen say anything about rotten body parts?
only teeth remained blistered
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
could it be caries :P

What about if you build a Depo on the open and build bridges around it
Build another in your fort and close the gates of your fort
When the merchant come, they'll go for the outside depo
Pull the bridges up and close the ourside depo
Open the fort and let them in.
Reverse when they leave
It's a lot safer than having an open fort, prone for ambushes and kobolts.

first serious 34.01 fort had an Evil ash mist that zombified everything that it touched, making my sourface glacier a giant zombie party with 100 attendants. Mostly Goblin ambushes and sieges. It was also highly contageus
I got rid of the ash with a bath right at the entrance. Zombies were moved down very fast by my dodge-me-into-lava-moat trap which got fueled by the magma pipe in the first cavern layer
Abandoned due to new version and lag

Had several harmless blood rains and other filth rains that caused only mild nauseating for a few seconds in the next couple of forts that I abandoned due to boring terrain

I have in my current 34.05 fort an acid that causes a swealling of the whole body, even teeth therefore yellow injuries. It causes an "Sustained a heavy injury lately" negative thought" and vomiting.

And I don't know if it's a part of it but when my militia captain, that got caught in the rain, was fighting some cavern creatures, he was emmiting clouds of miasma and goo into the enemy, just as FB emmit extracts when they attack. I'm supposing that he was having a severe fart diarrhea in the direction of the enemy.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your Longest Recorded Fort?
« on: March 14, 2012, 12:48:23 pm »
14 years, don't remember the name
had over 20 000 000 in my fort worth, I had lost and lots of encrusted golden doors and dining furniture
abandoned and deleted due to 34.01/boredome
First fort with 30 fully steel clad army and with masterwork candy weapons
was quite fun due to being in war with the elves day 1
Tie those two together and you get me giggling frantically every year when the elven siege came and I released my hounds of war on them

Let's just say that I was finding elf bodyparts 5z over my fort on the cliffside and the fortifications for over a year ater that
I also set megabeasts on high, therefore some 20 FBs were cruising in the caverns, most of them flying all with deadly dust/freezing attacks that killed anyone instantly.
Was just completing the FB capturing system when I lost interest in decembre

Can animals detect/prevent/(report?) the dry sucking of your legendary+5 weaponsmith if they're next to the bed?

44
just make a silver/iron/wood spiked ball dodge-me trap and an atomsmasher on the bottom
The first one gets 90% of zombies
best defence for a evil reanimating/mist biome zombie armies
