I'd like to say that I deeply enjoy this mod, first of all, and that I couldn't fathom going back to just vanilla goblins.

However, I have one issue. My troops are good enough to fight off pretty large invasions, but it seems like all the armies attack at the same general time. It basically goes like this:

"A vile force of darkness has arrived!"

Oh, uh, Beak Wolves? OK, set burrows, mobilize army, etc.

"A vile force of darkness has arrived!"

White Tigermen AND Beak Wolves? No probl-

"A vile force of darkness has arrived!"

HOLY ARMOK ARE THOSE WARWOLV-

"A vile force of darkness has arrived!"

"Your strength has been broken."

So, I don't know how you could fix that and it's probably been mentioned before. Maybe make them attack less frequently? Dealing with three squads of steel-armored elephants while dealing with four squads of copper-clad tigers and two squads of goblins while defending from another ambush? That's just unfair! Yet, strangely !!FUN!!

Moose man family, huddling inside an alcove. I set the centremost tree on fire, and hack off their feet or spill their guts so they can't escape. Once the smoke has cleared, I quickly decapitate the survivors, except for the foremost. That one, I hack his feet off and stab him in the lower body. He repeatedly vomits. I cut his eyes. Hack off his right antler, and proceed to kill all of them with the severed antler.

That's kind of fethed up, even for DF

So, I hate how after every battle I'll lose some dwarves because their nail got smashed and won't heal. I added a healing rate in the raws (I think), but they're not healing. Did I do it wrong or does the world need to regen for that to take effect?

I turned it up from "scarce" to "frequent", which is only one step, for this world. Since I only play on embarks with multiple metals anyway, it just increases the number of playable ones. Most of the time, if there's a type of metal on a site there's a whole lot of it anyway, especially with iron.

What Toady needs to do is set up a much higher amount of mineral variance, but decrease quantity. I'd rather have 200 hematite, 300 tetrahedrite and 150 galena than 1,500 units of zinc and nothing else

Don't even feel bad, on my fort I've had 9 artifacts and all of them have been wooden crafts. Any dwarves that produce them from here on are being executed for supporting elves.

Aha! I've found the problem. In the most recent FB, a giant spider who arrived with every limb broken and heavy bleeding, it had passed through a village. I have two refuse jobs, for storing a Bat Man upper right leg and lower right leg, which is probably in an isolated cavern area that was discovered before the way to get in was discovered.

It took a helluva lot of frame-by-frame, but if I forbid them, it SHOULD work.

EDIT: Didn't work, but once I took my commander and his most trusted lieutenant and send them into the cavern as an expedition, they found the tribe and slaughtered the inhabitants and peace was restored once more!

1) I don't want to lose another fort to the clown car if I accidentally invite it in
2) I've done adamantine before, and it's just kind of cheating IMO, I can get by just fine with bronze as it makes my military less of an unstoppable machine and more of a fighting force - if I wanted everything to die I'd make a 3x30 hall of 10-weapon traps with an atomsmasher on repeat at the end.
4- no, wait, 3) Strand extraction takes a rediculous amount of time. I don't want to wait half an hour to make a single set of armor.
and d) Gray and tan are much better colors for armor than bright cyan.

Also, I do wish that Toady would bring back the 40d system when bronze was better than iron, considering it takes a good bit more work and luck to obtain. I've had sites with both copper and tin less than I've had ones with iron in it, not to mention magnetite means you can get enough to arm an armada from a single vein.

No burrows active, and it's literally EVERY DWARF in the fortress with hauling enabled, which is why there's so much spam. Every time one gets cancelled, another dwarf immediately picks it up again. I have a suspicion that it's something in the gaves like a blowgun from a slaughtered tribe that can't be reached, but I can't find anything. Dwarves seem to be able to go everywhere just fine, as the military will move around the areas without problem and dwarves will go to areas where I haven't got any burrows, so yeah.

I do hope it wasn't a possession. I don't even care about artifact usefulness if I get a fey/secretive mood.

Speaking of, no matter the usefulness of an artifact I've NEVER had a non-possession on any of my blacksmiths, meaning I have a whole lot of -Bronze Greaves- armoring my dwarves.

So, I'm being repeatedly spammed every second with "Urist Mc<insert random job here> cancels Place Item in Stockpile: Item inaccessible". I have no idea what item they are trying to haul, and it's driving me up the wall.

1) Is there any way to check what item it is they're trying to haul from the message alone?

2) If not, is there a way to disable the message about inaccessible stuff? Anything to relieve this endless stream of red text at the bottom of my screen!

I haven't reliably had iron on an embark in almost all of my recent forts, and the ones that did were mostly test forts. I've tried all the things that are supposed to help: Multiple shallow metals, flux for near-guaranteed sedimentary layer, but I just can't find it.

Is there any way to find iron more reliably, and is anyone else experiencing this startling lack of the near-vital metal? Normally it wouldn't bother me that much, but in Fortress Defense invaders come too often for even bronze to hold well, and without iron there's also no steel or source of easy magma-proof stuff.

Derpdederpderp, that would explain why. I disable all my caretakers and turn them into extractors or full-time haulers. Thanks, I'll see if that solves the problem!
