Curses / Re: National LCS Revisited (4.07.3 Beta Release!)

I wish the cities contained more shops and stuff.

Seriously.

What would be different if your wish were fulfilled? Can you give some examples?

No more quote pyramid, I'm sure it was a blast while it lasted. ;)

I've deleted all quote pyramid posts after a certain point.
What if we keep it in a spoiler?

No, not even in a spoiler, sorry. Even setting aside ed boy's comment about Toady's preference (which I seem to recall myself), quote pyramids degenerate into people posting just to continue them, and that results in off-topic spam, posts without content, derailing threads, things like that. Even before they're completely off-topic, the quality of posts goes down considerably.

On most boards, your best shot at getting a free pass on a quote pyramid thread would be the Forum Games section, but I can't be sure here; the Bay12Games Forum Games section is bogglingly high brow from what I've seen. If you're still jonesing to see some big quote pyramids, you can probably dig up some archived threads on other boards though, like this one from the xkcd Forum Games section, which seems to have stopped only when it hit the character limit, and was so big that the forum software made many of the inner posts so narrow that they were literally unreadable.

I like it. Right now I'm in a bit of a rut with LCS inspiration, so I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing something like implemented, but I think it's a good approach.

Curses / Re: where can i find the older versions of the source code?
« on: July 19, 2013, 07:51:21 am »
You should be able to use your SVN client to download older versions, too. With TortoiseSVN, for example, the "update to revision" option will let you specify an older revision number (and browse the history if you don't know the number off hand) that you want.t

Curses / Re: CCS Not disbanding

If you really wanna get rid of em you could do what I did and break into the Intelligence HQ to get their backers list, then publish it.
Then the FBI will take care of your problem for you :P
Granted in my game I now have no safehouses and no way to get other ones, but still, no CCS :P
That only works if you're not having fun
AKA if you kill a bunch off innocents, the CIA will say that the CCS is necessary to stop you.

I've heard this a couple times, but I don't think it actually works that way. Maybe that was something that was discussed but never implemented? Or maybe I'm mistaken; it wouldn't be the first time. Have you/anyone actually published the backer list and had it not destroy the CCS?

So I snuck into desert eagle and stabbed the lieutenant in the head, getting ownership of the safehouse and the message that the CCS was disbanded. However, they still own a safehouse which they captured from me a while back and appear in the news as doing raids. I sent a squad to to the safehouse and killed a ton of people but the safe house wasn't taken back. I'm using the non-beta version, is there any way to fix this?

Not in that version, unfortunately. However, you can still defeat the CCS, it's just that you won't get the original safehouse you lost to them back. There are two more CCS safehouses beyond the Desert Eagle, not including the one they took away from you; the other two are hidden and must be uncovered the same way you found the Desert Eagle. Once you capture their three original safehouses, they should be defeated, even if they still control the one they took from you.

A weird bug I found running 4.07.0 while getting raided.

It seems most of my loot is outside protected by a minefield. Never had this happen before. Don't know if I'm supposed to attach a log because idk how to do that but this is the only bug I've found after a good 10 hours of playing.

I've never been able to figure this out, despite seeing reports about it every once in awhile.

The shape of the outside area down there looks like old fire damage. Have you had fires during site actions in the past?

I think i got terrorism charges for shooting up and looting the intelligence HQ.

You probably got Treason for that. Both are pretty serious.

So its a mutual loveslave relationship.

The slave part is one way, but both parties must be present for the lovin'.

EDIT: Where the hell do they even get all their CEOs?!?!

CEOs are not born, but made. They are a renewable resource.

This bug shows up in the pre-National releases; it's fixed in the latest beta versions and will be in the next stable version.

EDIT: Yeah, I also notice that Fire Stations are gone, only Fireman HQs exist when free speech is nonexistent.  Since the fire station code was created by someone other than Jonathan, I'm guessing it just wasn't converted properly to National LCS.

I think I coded it to hide fire stations when they have no political purpose, similar to the way that CCS safehouses are hidden.

Is recruiting firefighters a useful thing?

No, facial damage permanently damages your charisma stat, but not your agility stat. However, blindness does have a large impact on attack rolls. You can still hit, but it'll be very erratic.

What I've done for the moment is kept a commercial district in single city mode, while keeping shop location one of the things that varies by city in multiple city mode.
