We have 10 dice, each design costs 3. Anyone else have another idea? (Possibly for a ritual of some sort?)

I was under the impression that it'd let our deity do a thing, but that they of course decide when they actually do the thing.

409
Oh that one. I somehow never got that impression. Yeah, reserve cruiser to pick up orphaned fighters can work. Going to think if I'd rather have that or just send it home for a fresh fighter wing, though.

410
Using it as a reserve cruiser though... With no bore drive, her mobility is crippled. With no fighter complement (all of her fighters that are left should go to the C&C Expedition to bring that one up to almost 100% combat readiness) she's pretty much defanged. And she has enough already present damage that another big hit would probably sink her.

While we could leave her at Sierra to drag another Foray into our decisive battle, I'd rather drag her to Mike in preparation to get her repaired.

EDIT:Also, technically speaking, we can't repair her this turn without investing two separate Forays to drag her back to Gaia. So we don't have to factor in the costs of fixing her or replacing her fighter wing in this turn's budget.

I do like the idea of War and Industry; mayhaps with more of a war focus, mayhaps not.

Still; the Weaponsmith who churns out countless blades, the Fletcher who crafts the finest crossbows, the Bonecarver who is hurriedly making bone armor so that the newly formed militia has something to protect them, even the Cooks who craft the best lasting rations... All would have this gods favor in addition to those whom directly fight.

Hmm... I'm already involved in too many Arms Races; SO LET'S JOIN ONE MORE! Sign me up for Team 1.

Nuke does raise points. Haunter feels more sylistically Merethine than CAP; and does draw on our cybernetics experience. Besides, Aratam is already doing this through mind drugs; let's compete with our advantages, and not follow their path too closely, for they're already a bit further down that exact path.

Besides, don't you all want to mind punch them with robots?

And here is me being incredibly indecisive. SFP has its issues in running into maximum particle speed. VFI has its issues in trying to be a direct upgrade; and as such possibly much more constrained in effect. I do agree that one of the Death Ray revisions should go through, and that we should only throw one die out; save it so we can consider tossing 2 dice on the Epee and still have room for possible revisions (Or just juggle it until we can do a turn with two designs; we got a lot of stuff to get started on after all!)

I hate voting like this, but Kashyyk did more or less state my reasoning as well, so no reason to rehash that.

Via abuse of a superconductor-based parlour trick, (also known as Quantum Locking or Flux Pinning) it is possible to suspend armour plates above a magnet, and with careful manipulation of the magnetic field, we can move the plates around.

The plates themselves are a depleted Transplutonic material, chosen for their resistance to electromagnetic radiation damage in its various forms, fitted to a room-temperature superconductor. As the plates can be moved easily, we don't have to armour an entire ship, instead we can shift the plates to face the enemy no matter which direction they come from. Gaps can be left between the plates for sensors and bores, and they can be moved out of the way to when hangers or turrets are ready to unleash their payload.

In addition, damaged armour plates can be shuffled out of the line of fire to be repaired whilst fresh plates are moved to the fore. If we are able to predict a particularly heavy attack, we can even stack plates on top of each other as well. Science Fiction may have believed in energy shields, but it turns out the middle ages had it right all along.

If someone can come up with a better name, id be very happy.

On the naming issue for this I had an idea. It blocks their sunbeam weapons right? It's a single spot of mobile armor.

Let's call it the sunspot.

I like sunspot. A little too in their face maybe, but we've witnessed those moments in design naming right? It's at least clever.

While I have a pretty decent idea of how this is going to end; it is still a bit too early for an autocannon (although granted their is no harm in starting development of one early...).
