Give it time.

Eventually, the enemy dialog will be a combination of a sanity checked markov chain, and realtime voice synth (that is actually worth a shit).  After that, it will have some rudimentary neural net ai running behind it so that the NPCs actually CAN, Actually banter. (semi-randomness from the markov generator feedstock, coupled with a NN AI that can determine meaning, and use that meaning to weight its own markov chain output before sending it to the sanitizer for proper gramatical and sentence structure.) Such AIs would have some "personality" variables for things they are programmed to like, dislike, know about, etc, that would dramatically shape their output streams and interaction with other NPCs.  (Think something on par with IBM Watson, coupled with some preset personality profile data)

It will still have plenty of warts, but would be better than the Russian stalkers shouting "A Nu! CHeeky breeky!" at you every time they see you in stalker.
why would you generate dialogue with a markov chain and then try to impart meaning on it with a neural network? that seems ridiculously complex when you could just not use markov chains in the first place. especially since none of this is supposed to evolve at all, a markov chain isnt useful. just train a neural network on a set of your choice and use that to generate the text??

Most of them are fairly badly written, of course. Usually very obvious We_Found_Strange_Spikey_Thing_Probably_Harmless.ogg or HELP_THE_WALLS_ARE_COVERED_IN_KEBAB.mp3.  Most of the work an audio log endeavours to do could be done by having an old news broadcast or public announcement play in the background.

But then again, I adore all those books in the Elder Scrolls. Those books about ancient heroes and what-not that have very little to do with the story of the game (and a lot of the times not at all). But then again, it is never really necessary to read them. They are there if you wish to, and the ability to choose your own immersion is always rather welcome. An entirely optional little flavour book in Oblivion is probably not comparable to a bad case of the audiologs in, say, Dead Space.

This leads to my current pet peeve with games in general these days.  Writing obviously no longer being a concern in story driven games.  I understand most games aren't going to be masterpieces of the written word talked about at Shakespearean levels in 600 years(which Shakespeare would probably find humorous himself), but at least put as much passion into your writing as you are putting into other areas.  Can we stop with the "space gods" and "twists everyone saw coming before game was even announced" already?

While those figures aren't valid in the sense of trying to maintain a steady population, they are a valid argument against trying to maintain age balance. I'll cite this example:

Quote
A 1999 Australian parliamentary research paper, entitled "Population Futures for Australia: the Policy Alternatives", looked at the claim that immigration could offset an ageing population. It found that in order to maintain the proportion of the population aged 65 and over at present levels, "enormous numbers of immigrants would be required, starting in 1998 at 200 000 per annum, rising to 4 million per annum by 2048 and to 30 million per annum by 2098. By the end of next century with these levels of immigration, our population would have reached almost one billion."The paper went on to say "It is demographic nonsense to believe that immigration can help to keep our population young."

Basically, if Australia tried to maintain working/retired age balance by immigration, then within the century we'll have to bring in more people per year than the total who live here now ... so while there are supportable benefits for immigration to maintain population levels if that's needed, the "prevent aging population" benefit of younger immigrants is doomed from the start, because those people age too. The real problem is that the proportion of people working vs those supported (children and old people etc) is worked out by taking the average age people live to, divided by the average number of years a person works. Adding more people doesn't change those averages.
I thought shortsighted solutions that will come crashing down on us in some years or decades was what Trump is best at?

From what I've heard, the Netherlands literally have a protestant "Bible Belt", which is apparently also an area with a lot of antivaxxers...

Yeah, so did BodySlider. What I meant was that it had three separate sliders for size

Smitty becoming the new river ghost would be an interesting turn of events, though.

Honestly, I remember CBBE having like three sliders or something for ridiculously big breasts. One slider wasn't enough, apparently.

CBBE actually does come with underwear that resembles the vanilla, not just the swimsuit bikinis.
Yes I know, that's the NeverNude. I've gotten to a point where I don't actually remember what stock Skyrim underwear looks like tbh, but the one CBBE considers universe-appropriate still seems too modern for me. The level of sophistication you see in Skyrim, I'd expect women to have chest wraps or simple cloth garments at most, not a 19th-20th century design bra that seems to have been made from sack cloth.
Yes I am very nitpicky. :P
I'm pretty sure that's what the vanilla textures look like, though :P

a dumb, aestheticy edit of a sonic r song.

Sonic R will always have a place in my heart as one of my first PS2 games, shitty as it may be.
