Today is the first day of your new job. Certainly one you never expected you would ever have before the revolution. Perhaps it is time to explain.

A month ago, tensions had risen in the small island nation of Forenia. Situated directly inside the Black Sea, it was under the pull of many different nations. Turkey, newly liberated Russia and Romania were particularly so. The nation was a monarchy, and an oppressive one. The working class were poor, mostly farmers. The aristocracy had their coffers stuffed with the taxes, and were living the high life. But the peasants were not happy. Shootings were common as the army enforced the law with an iron fist. But, a small communist movement grew and grew. Armaments were smuggled in by the USSR, along with military staff and other equipment. Food was stockpiled, and soon they were ready. War started a week ago. It ended 2 days ago. The war was over as former military turned into revolutionaries. The palace was stormed, and the rulers killed. The country was free. A glorious new government was established, with the leaders being former revolutionary leaders. And so to you. You were chosen for your new position as you were a talented factory worker. Your job now was as the head of the Military Design Bureau, the new group in charge of all military development. Ships, Guns, even the exciting new worlds of aircraft and tanks. You are only in charge of a small group of engineers and factories, but in time, that will grow. You arrive at the small, red brick building that marks your office, and read the documents on your desk.

Year 1: 1925
So now is the first year of your work. The army has requisitioned you for a number of things:
So, what are your orders for this year?

An encrypted radio crackles to life and a disguised voice speaks through it.

Why would we need mutual defense? Defense against what?
My I remind you that we are not the only nations in the world. There are even unaligned pieces of land, and raiders. Mutual defence may be on the table, but right now there are more important things to worry about.

In Hawaii

The Dominion's representative sat at the table, fully armoured with the Dominion's iconic power armour, softly (For someone inside said power armour.) tapping on the table before speaking up in a deep, mechanical tone.

"Now please tell me, why was this meeting organized in the first place?"
The president, wearing his typical suit, spoke to the power-armoured figure.
" To negotiate pacts, treaties, other such diplomatic actions. We don't want nukes flying again, and we are all major enough to hurt each other badly. Mutual defence is another possibility, as well as trades of natural resources. Technology Is perhaps a bit more touchy, but possible. "

The first thing that the president had to worry about was the meeting. He himself turned up, trying to secure diplomatic deals. The President proposes a non-aggression pact for 4 years, limiting any hostilities. A seperate treaty is also proposed limiting the use of nuclear warheads. The details for that treaty are below. The president waited for the other Leader's responses.

My turn will be up soon.

Well, I've taken a look at what I've said. Honestly? I got too caught up In what I was saying. A serious rethink is needed. Goodbye for now.

Emotional speech has a place in persuasive speaking Y'know.
And I came here for intellectual debate.
These two concepts are mutually exclusive.
No they are not. Emotional speaking is a way of appealing to human emotion in persuasive writing, and then you use facts and evidence to back them up. It is to appeal to humans, as humans are not robots. While facts and evidence are great and strong for your side, emotional argument is like an icing on top. It drives it further into the people's minds.
Trolling? Apparently having a different political opinion is trolling now. If you're just going to yell " Trolling" when I have a particular political opinion that is strange and not seen often, well, then why are you still replying to a "troll"?

It's nothing to do with your opinions. It's making false claims that you already answered specific questions, when you did not.

You claimed "f-ing serious wars are brewing" and I asked you to clarify, you claimed i must have missed you stating it clearly several times in the thread. I checked, and you never did. so you were lying, regardless of your political views.

Now, it looks like you're just acting dumb for the sake of it.
Ahem, excuse me. You seem to not read the rest of my post a lot of the time. Please, read my full post.

That's it. I'm just too tired to post. I'll come back later. Likely quite a few hours. Then I will go get all the posts where I mention serious wars. And answering questions wrongly isn't trolling.

I might be, and I am sorry, but this really is kind of amusing.
You should come here more often, maybe tomorrow I will feel like bringing up some topic.
Even your apology ( If I can call it that ) has that damn tone to it. I'm reading it in a very nasal voice. Please, I came here for debate. Not " Kingfisher is a stupid poopyface" If I wanted to be berated in front of a lot of people I would shout out various unpopular things in the street.

As opposed to shouting them out in the forum? ???

"This save the whales bullshit" isn't a particularly civil response to an argument, I'm unsure why you then ask for civility in return...
I am sorry if you did not enjoy that. I will try to refrain from further instances such as this.
And I came here for intellectual debate. I expect more than personal beration.
"There are serious fucking wars brewing"

Where exactly?
I must have stated them a number of times now. Please, go look back through the thread.

I did better than that, i scanned through your personal post history.

And you haven't addressed that even once, as you well know. I'll have to call you out on very obvious trolling.

Just incoherently yelling "Indonesia" isn't the same as an argument that Australia is in Dire Peril.
???

As I said before. Israel. China/Taiwan. Indonesia and East Timor. China/Japan. North Korea. Various dictatorships toppling. While certain ones are small, they have the potential of starting a war. Small things start wars. Big things start wars. Some take long times to boil over. These are some. I'm sure to have missed some.

You actually weren't being sarcastic. ::)
See, this is what we call Poes law in action.
When somebody is on such an insane rant, it actually looks like parody.
" HAHA, HE IS THE EXACT ANTITHESIS OF MY VIEWS, HE MUST BE INSANE!"
Emotional speech has a place in persuasive speaking Y'know.
Tears of hilarity... Rolling down cheeks... This guy. Seriously, it is adorable.
Don't you just want to dress him up in a 'Nuke the whales' shirt and hug him?
Oh, irony. This save the whales bullshit is quite frankly nothing but emotion.
Max, we don't bullshit around like you're doing now on this forum either. Either stop baiting for a fight or go away.

I think it would be a lot better to take pride in your wonderous, one-of-a-kind nature and to spend more money to protect that rather than to put more money into any part of the military. More patriotic as well, for that matter.
I do. Quite frankly though, our people have a higher place than animals. Sorry to burst your bubble.

So you would rather destroy the one single thing that actually makes your country special, the one thing that makes you stand out, to put money into something your country doesn't even need at this point. Permanently destroy something unique that you will never be able to regain, for something you can actually mobilize later just as easily as now.

That makes no sense to me. That's not patriotic, it's just militaristic.
So Gallipoli, Tobruk, Vegemite, farm culture, footy, meat pies, and barbecues have no impact on our culture nor national identity? We don't stand out because of previously mentioned foreign aid, battles, diplomacy, and other such things? Our kangaroos are the only thing that makes us special.

Although I do thank you for you starting comment. As long as this keeps civil, with as few rule-breaking incidents as possible, the better.
I just can't help it.
I tried to take this guy seriously, honestly I did, but there is a point where rational discussion just doesn't really have an affect.
Quite frankly you are just fishing for anger out of me right now.

599
Kingfisher, you've still failed to answer the bits that don't fit you. I know you've said you're better at emotion, but we don't do this in this forum. So 1) Since you want an increase of around 6 billions, but environmental protection (including fighting climate change) only cost a couple billions at most, what do you want to cut for that army.
2) Why do you need that army? Don't say something like "The Cadets". That something that should be managed outside the army. Like building bridge in Africa. It's simply not part of the army's core business.
First of all, don't get all condescending and say " Pfft, commoner, we don't do this at this forum!" I'm not new here, don't act like I am. Emotional speech has a place in persuasive speaking Y'know.
2) It goes beyond " Cadets." There are serious fucking wars brewing. Years into the future we will see the impact of the brewing now. We need a military. Simple as that.

600
Max, he was saying what he want to cut to pay for a larger army.
Your right, I totally misread...

So wait, we are cutting environmental programs to fund the military?
Oh god this kid is classic. It wouldn't surprise me if he was against gay marriage and anti-gun restrictions too!
Second one yes, first one no.
