Beat the Elven King of Dwarves' skull in with a backpack while simultaneously telling his friend that the fiend's return was inevitable.

What Would Urist Do if a random human claimed his fort in the name of a two-person group called The Stinky Cheese?

I just announced to some guys that I was taking over their fort, and their responses were the usual "This must be stopped with all our blah blah blah..." along with some random guy who "[didn't] care one way or the other."

...Oh, and some other random guy who came up to me and said something along the lines of "Guess what just happened? Some lunatic announced they were gonna take over the fort!"

I had to look up what a kaiju is (for those wondering, it pretty much means "strange beast" in Japanese), but that's an interesting idea. I myself am interested in non-vanilla creature mods, so it may appeal to me. :3

...Ah, I almost forgot the whole reason I made this thread. :P Here's what my mod thread would look like, minus text-formatting (I'm only posting it like this because I already had the format for the O.P. figured out by the time this ocurred to me):

I don't mean to single you out, but try being more specific. Okay, so you've gotten the basic theme down, but what exactly do you plan on adding? Try being as specific as possible so people know what to expect. ;)

If you're viewing this thread, chances are that there's been at least one case where you've had an idea for a Dwarf Fortress mod and thought it was the best thing ever. If you were persistent enough to learn how, you probably succeeded in making it, and If you were really proud of it, you probably posted it on the forums. But how does it feel when your great mod idea turns out to be a dud no one plays? This thread is dedicated to avoiding that issue.

This thread is for people who have brilliant ideas for mods they want to share, but wonder if they'll be successful among the community. It was specifically made to avoid incidents where you put so much time and effort into something, only to have to watch as it drops to page 50 due to unpopularity. I got the idea for it after I was inspired to create a big mod, but wondered if all my efforts would go to waste on something no one had interest in.

tl;dr Post ideas you have for mods you're unsure about sharing.

Dear Urist McWoodcutter,

When we assign trees to be cut, we expect you to chop all of them down. We do NOT expect you to fell a single tree, take the resulting log to the stockpile, go back to cut more trees, and repeat the process FOR EVERY TREE. Dude, seriously, there are six other dwarves, all having the hauling labor on. So please, be more efficient with the woodcutting and leave the hauling to them.

Are you playing an older version of 0.34.xx? I don't know exactly when it was fixed, but as of 0.34.05, your companions don't need to consume anything to survive.

The easiest way I can think of is to modify the dwarf's raws in creature_standard.txt (found in raw/objects). You can check here for what the words in brackets (a.k.a. "tokens") mean and how to use them. This isn't exactly what you wanted--it'll change ALL the dwarves in the game to orcs--but unless one is willing to make an entirely new orc creature and entity raw, it's as close as you'll get.

The super-happy-regardless-of-whatever-dangerous-situation-I'm-in faces can be changed with tilesets. I'm completely in the dark about how to use those, however, so I'm not the best person to ask. I'm only experienced in making raws for creatures and the like. :P

Finally became a necromancer after several failed tries. I have a horde of 38 zombies, who I let kill everything as I watch from a safe (enough) distance.

Not exactly a name, but I got attacked by a "zombie dwarfdwarf mutilated corpse". I know that's just combining "zombie dwarf" and "dwarf mutilated corpse", but it's funny.

I go to my first necromancer tower, hoping to acquire the ability of necromancy. A zombie walks out. "Okay, it's just a dwarf corpse." I kill it, and then proceed to enter the building. Bad idea. There were at least fifteen zombies on the first floor alone. I decided to trick them into following me and leaving the building so I can enter in peace. Another bad idea. (i r best adventur playr evar!1!) I fail to see the zombies on the second floor, and get cornered with no hope of survival.

tl;dr zombie zerg rush
