You know what would be handy to have? A program that would automatically convert parts of mods to your own flavor. Anyone of you guys know how to work python? I'm looking into it but it's not as simple as I would have liked (not python but the complexity of such a program that can actually do this is rather vast.) Might also help with just modding in general.

But isn't their skill at farming and foodstuffs their defining characteristic? Earth ponies are hard workers who are neither blessed with the freedom of flight nor the power of magic. If you gave them too much of an edge anywhere other then their skill-set then the spirit of being an earth pony would diminish in my eyes. There pride lies in their hard work and skill, be careful not to take that away from them.

The caste multiplication is to counter a bug with the caste system, with only four castes in two genders there will only ever be eight different cutie marks.
For example ALL earth pony males will have the same hair and coat color, and the same cutie mark.
Well, that's not completely true, as genetic drift is implemented, and will sometimes make offspring with a different set of haircolor.

Once the new version is out and all migrants will be historical figures instead generated on the spot, this problem may be averted, but as of now, caste multiplication seems to be the only way

Or you know, you could just make that a feature. Not like everything in these mods are 100% canon anyway. That way cutiemarks could signature family lines and maybe function as family crests (coat of arms), that way it would not be entirely weird to have such a thing show up in somepony's likes list.

I am torn: would the semiroyal vampire pony be more like the Shadowbolts or one of Lunas bat-winged guards?
Can't it be both? Give em large bat wings and fangs!

Happy late new year everyone.

Ah, I didn't realize you could also use blocks for those traps, darn.
Well you could also just give them the worst stat's of all stones combined, that should solve everything right?
(Also, scrap the "blocks" idea, that way you would not be able to make furniture in any colour you wanted.)

Can't every bit you put into a creature with "creature tokens" be cast based? (I thought it was.)

Anyway, you can also try to make a "pre-hearts warming eve" version, separate pony/pegasus/unicorn civilizations with differences in ethics that make them clash. (I know its on my to-do list, my long, long to-do list. *sign*)

Hey, is anyone considering actualy playing the Buffalo? It seems like it would be interesting, being that you are basicly one of the biggist races around yet are restricted to wood and leather, along with bone.

Not me, I prefer playing just unicorns.

I'm looking into it but I'm hopelessly terrible at this stuff plus I can't find any helpful pages in the wiki.

Does anyone have any helpful links?

EDIT: One idea to help prevent 'cheating' is to only make stone BLOCKS so they can only be used in construction and nothing else.

Having to use paint is just silly to me. If I would do this I would do it the wizard's way and just create my own stone.

So how does a mason workshop work then? Does it have individual reactions of every stone type for every product it can make? That sounds like horribly inefficient coding to me.

16 new reactions, one for each colour, and 1328 new materials for all the varieties of painted stone, plus adding reaction product tags to all existing stone. If anypony wants to look at how the woodpainting works and adapt it, I'll include it, but it's some pretty tiresome busywork when I've got more interesting things to get working. The main problem with the current paint system is getting hold of dye plants, and there needs to be some underground. I'll probably move a few existing ones underground, like clownsbane. I'd probably also want to include magma-safe paints if I was going to include painting stone, and that's beyond DF's tech level and sensible boundaries of magic.

Is it really necessary to build all those individual reactions? Isn't there an option that would accept just any stone and change it into something else? That way you'd only need 16 right?

I'm pretty sure the Painter's shop will change the color of wood, assuming you ahv ethe proper dye plants availible.

Can the same be done with stone?

Is it possible for a workshop to change the color of stone or wood?

Or to take wood or stone and change it into a different kind of wood/stone? (one you've made yourself that has a color that you'd like?)

I'm thinking of a transmutation workshop that creates transmuted wood/stone of colors you like, it would allow for much more colorful towns and castles no matter what your location conditions are.

EDIT: Or maybe even the possibility of glowing stone/wood, that could look cool.

I think you guys are really over thinking it.

Not that that can't be fun.

HA! Amazing, the cannon pre-equestria civilizations are in almost perfect sinc with my own pony fortress civilizations.

This is way beyond awesome, this is a dream come true! I can't believe my luck.

What can I say but fucking called it! Individual civilizations for the pony races and extra civilizations from combinations there of, that's the way to go.
