DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: This is still a problem.
« on: February 21, 2012, 04:47:41 am »
I like to think you chose the local frat house to crash in, they all got drunk and thought it would be hilarious to move you somewhere while you sleep.

They must have gotten drunk on MY mead. Bastards!
Wow, they must be elves then.
...
The bastards cant even handle a single beer, they get drunk just like the unhardened dorf children.
...
You should've never started feeding the damn elves...

To quote ze wiki:
Body
Strength - Alters the damage done in melee, increases muscle mass (thicker muscle layer also resists damage more), and increases how much a creature can carry. Increasing strength, at least in adventurers, increases movement speed (albeit not as much as agility) due to better carrying capacity.
Agility - This attribute is directly related to a character's Speed and is also used in combat skills.
Toughness - Reduces physical damage. Also relates to defensive combat skills.
Endurance - Reduces the rate at which the adventurer becomes exhausted. Used in Wrestling.
Recuperation - Increases the rate of wound healing. Not as important as Toughness. Recuperation isn't that useful in adventurer mode since you usually have as much time to rest as you need assuming you can escape a situation alive.
Disease Resistance - Reduces the risk of disease. It isn't clear how useful this currently is in adventurer mode.
Strength, Agility, and Toughness are the Body attributes that most impact combat skills, and Endurance to a lesser extent.
Soul
Some of these are useful for adventure-mode-applicable skills, but some are totally useless.
Analytical Ability - Useful for certain crafting skills, the only one currently being Knapping.
Focus - Affects Archer, Ambusher, Observer.
Willpower - Fighter, Crutch Walker, Swimmer, and helps resist pain effects such as those caused by chipped bones.
Creativity - Currently completely useless in adventure mode. Normally it impacts crafting skills.
Intuition - Only helps with Observer.
Patience - Currently useless.
Memory - Records more of previously traveled areas when you return to them. Deletes all memory when you travel.
Linguistic Ability - Currently useless because adventurers don't have social skills.
Spatial Sense - Important. Affects combat skills, Ambusher, Crutch Walker, Swimmer, Observer, Knapping.
Musicality - Completely useless as of yet.
Kinesthetic Sense - Important. Combat skills, Crutch Walker, Swimming, Knapping,
Empathy - Might increase chance of persuading people to Join you.Verify
Social Awareness - Increases the number of followers you can have at a given "fame" level. Normally you start with a limit of two. Increasing this stat by one level raises that to three.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Vampires not having blood?
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:58:16 pm »
I came back during the day, and the combat was much more bloody. I had to prolong it a bit to get the full pool (rather than just executing them instantly), but I do think I may be a vampire now.

You are a vampire if your hunger and thirst magically go back to 0, right?
Yup

I was on a murdering spree in the village i spawned in.
After the first 11 or so kills, i got hit in the chest with the smiths kitchenknife, bruising my heart.
That didnt kill me though, i got another 90 kills, but they were painfull for me...

On another murdering spree... in the same civ...
I got about 240 kills, before 8 villagers cornered me and chupped me to bits with their copper kitchen knives, resulting in:
"your upper body is gone"
I was like, wtf?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Weapon Choice
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:30:18 am »
Okay, so in my current adventure, I'm preparing to go on a raid into a Necromancer's tower, as soon as I complete my transformation into a vampire. After clearing the catacombs in the town I am in, I came up with a bit of an issue, namely, what combination of weapons to use.

At the moment, I'm carrying an <<Iron 2h Sword>>, -<<Silver Mace>>-, Silver Maul, and a Masterwork Iron Maul. The first I'm planning on keeping (for taking limbs off of dangerous living enemies and because I started with points in Swordsman). So my question is: what combination of the blunt weapons should I keep, and more specifically, is the masterwork quality enough to balance out the second maul being iron, rather than silver?

Iron has a density of 7.875 g/cm^3  and silver has a density of 10.49 g/cm^3
So the silver maul probably weighs 31.2% more than the iron one.
I don't know about the masterwork modifier though...
Hope this helps.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: So, novice swimmer drowns??

Make sure you move into the underwater.

If you move into the air above the water you fall into the water and can get stunned.
This :D

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / So, novice swimmer drowns??

I am a novice swimmer, but when i jump into the water, it says that i am drowning, WTF?

I heard that prepared organs are lighter, so you are better off taking these.

Ok so only loot the "Prepared - something"

But isnt the meat worth alot? Im thinking of looting the meat and skulls for trading.

Also, how do i sell things for coins? I seem to always trade "Seven small copper helmet" for whatever iron armor i need.

373
So we all know that wolves are canned food.

But which is better: The meat or the fat?
The intestines or the brain?

What bodyparts are to heavy, compared with other parts?
Are there quality or is the only differences weight?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Please help me mod the raws!
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:40:04 pm »
So, just upgraded to 34.02 now that Phoebus is out.

Anyway, i wanna make some changes to the raws, before making a new world.

1. No aquifers at all.
2. Allow butchering and consumption.

What else would be a good idea to mod in, and how do i mod these things in?
