Check the raws.
entity_default. Search for "ethic." Somewhere in that block of text is one saying something like EAT_SENTIENT_KILLED and EAT_SENTIENT_OTHER. Change both to ACCEPTABLE.
Generate a new world.

If the traders are still on the screen, create a hospital and put a chest in it. Due to a bug, all dwarfs will begin collecting thread and cloth from everywhere possible, this includes caravans. After you have enough in your chest, remove it and all the cloth and thread will spill out.
Like compagnies in real life, stealing without stealing.

My manager has contracted a weaver mood, but i have no string or tread, and the merchants just left.
Can i save him without cheating somehow? I savescummed back to before he went beserk, so i guess he will go beserk again.

Or can i save him with dfhack or something? Maybe change the mood to making something else.

It would be a viable offense, as mining alone wont teach them dodge, shield use and armor use.
1 squad of gobbo crossbows and your legendary military is out of order.

I guess, that since mining skill helps dwarves fight with picks, and since mining is so easily trained, would it make sence to have a squad of 8  legendary 18+ miners that would kill anything in one hit? Would this be a viable defence?

Indeed, if you settle close to a tower, necromancers will ambush you, and siege you with their armies of zombies.
