Do you have trees on your map?  Could be the sapling->tree under a wagon destroying the wagon bug.

Even the trees in DF are hardcore.  They must be in leage with those pesky elves.  Kill them all just to be sure!

AFAIK, they work, but you can't avoid them.

Unless you've turned them on for adventure mode in init.txt, they shouldn't do anything

Legendary metal crafters can be awesome. Yeah, you lose out on a cool weapon or armor piece once, but everytime you 'make golden crafts', you'll get between 1 and 3 masterwork gold items that are worth 3600 a piece, the superior ones worth 1500. So you can make enough stuff to clean out a caravan of all the steel you can want in just a few in-game seconds.

You can do the same thing with plain old cave spider silk crafts or rock crafts too

EDIT:  Maybe not in a few seconds, but does it really matter?

#1 tip when you see a troll: ignore them. Don't post in the thread, don't rage, just ignore the troll. I was dissapointed by how many people got angry by and responded to Gimli's post. A lot of people need to take DF less srsly.

Dude, I thought the responses were pretty calm.  I've critisized some ppl here before for taking the internet too seriously, but this thread actually made me think higher of the forum.

Pick dwarves in other games...

Dwarves used to be my least liked fantasy race, but nowadays I pick them wherever I can find them.  It's kinda funny how DF has changed my view of the little buggers completely

I have noticed the baby cap affecting immigration on a few occasions.  The best way to deal with this is to only turn it on when you are getting close to your population cap

I love that this game is so complicated that nobody ever quite figures everything out. There are always new (or... old...) features to discover :)

It's scary actually; I've played DF on and off for about two years now, and I still manage to find new things once in a while.

I've got a site with all that plus adamantine  . . .and skeletal giant eagles. Frankly I'm not sure I'm dwarf enough to handle it.

Sounds sweet.  Is there a possibility of a seed with location?  My Dwarf Prospector doesn't work for some reason

Edit:  It's fixed now, but if possible I'd still like the seed
