Other Games / Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Personally, I always went alone in Skyrim.
While I because of this, tend to die a lot.. But I do prefer to go by the "If you want something done right, do it yourself." rule.

I'm way on the opposite side, 5 to 6 followers all equipped with a sword, bow and ranger cloak.  All set to non-essential though, with a Fallout 4 Survival-esque damage mod, so they die just as easily as I do. I do prefer sneaking up on each bandit camp and releasing a volley of arrows before they can figure out what hit them, and I also like how the fights are waaaaay more intents because I have to pre-plan ambushes and don't want any of my peeps to die (well, not all of them, the annoying ones I send in first. Alone. Without any backup. Just die already, Lydia... swoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorn to carry my burdens... )

Bump head. is the Alliance still exists? i want to join. my account blackbard.

Greetings!

The alliance still exists yes :P
This is a very slow paced game so people who stick around for longer than a month or two tend to keep player the game indefinitely.

Invitation to alliance sent, will send you some welcome troops... uhm.. welcome goods right away!

Illyriad, https://illyriad.co.uk/,  is a city building mmo type browser game I've been playing for years. It is sloooooooooooooooow paced, but nice to have open in the background. You do need to log in once every 60-90 days to prevent account deletion, and I do forget about the game for months at a time, but I always come back to my cities still standing. There's a small bay12 alliance in Illy.

The same devs are also working on Age of Ascent, https://www.ageofascent.com/, an html5 space shooty browser game that looks very promising. It has a public play test once a week or so.

Apologies for the delay, was away.

Invite sent. You are welcome to teleport to the home islands, or our jungle colonies. Check our alliance map in-game to see where we are expanding. Be sure to say hi in the alliance chat, there are lots of folks keen to help there.

Also, Faction AI is slowly being released (and by slowly I mean veeeeeeerrrry slowly, like everything in this game). The devs are making baby steps in this area, but baby steps in a Fun direction :D

5
A bit slow sorry, looks like you already got sorted out in-game though. Welcome back!

Is the alliance active? I'd like to give this game a try.

I see an invite was already sent, welcome to the alliance!

Yes, the alliance is still very much active. This is a long haul game, and those of us remaining will be here for some time to come. Let us know if you need anything; we are currently running a massive expansion drive in the new world... following the model of one of our rough-rider members who is currently competing in a bet to be the top scorer on the entire server (and very well succeeding at it). With the new updates to the game many of us are pursuing a jungle colonization in the new world which has breathed a lot of new-found life into the old alliance.

I remember playing this game a few years back but I forgot about my account. I just might start playing this again.

You are welcome to join! Just ask for an alliance invite when you do.

Apart from our two home islands we've now started a massive expansion drive in the northern jungles of the new continent. So far it is only one member with 30 cities tightly packed there and the rest of us with our first couple of cities having just arrived, but we are already stronger than anyone else in the area, and will form an indomitable jungle fortress once we get up and running.

Sup guys, how's the island holding?

I stole all your cows and am capturing your capital city :P
Getting pretty fat and rich though, and with our jungle adventures I'll be able to pay you back tenfold if you should ever return ;P

Invite sent.

Illyriad is a slow-paced browser MMORTS, with politics in the likes of EVE. Although our alliance strictly ignores all external politics and just live like hermits on our island. Yes, we have our own islands.. we killed off or assimilated almost everyone else in the region; something that no other alliance has managed anywhere else.

We don't actively recruit from in-game, only bay12. However we have picked up a number of non-bay12 dorflike members over the years.

Ask in the alliance chat if you need an tips, advice or resources.

StA is one of the oldest alliances in the game. Although of the original founders only Duuvian remains (haven't seen him in a while). Some of the rest said they'd return when Faction AI comes out. It has yet but there's been loads of progress though.

Invite sent!

With the recent updates starting out goes much faster now. You are welcome to join us on the islands again or join us in the colonies. Lemme know if you need any beer, spears or elf-ears!

10
Starting out goes a lot faster now with the new updates! (And I do mean a lot!)

But yeah, it is still a long-term slow paced game ;P

Lots of new updates to the game!
http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/22feb15-5-years-of-illyriad_topic6165.html

Most important for current players with sitters is the new sitting rule: 90 days only. You have to reassign your sitter manually once in a blue moon, otherwise they'll lose sitting rights.

Massive changes to speed along newer players as well, at least on lower levels, sign up here: http://illyriad.com/?104473

Other notable changes include Dwarven infantry being made even stronger (yay!),
new map getting to beta: http://world.illyriad.co.uk/player-preview.html,
Number of cities per player increase from 10 to a (theoretical) maximum of 42,
and almost all faction troops have been completed, thus edging us ever closer to full faction release.

Be sure to mail me, TomBombadil, or any other StA member for free beer and spears if you join up.

I'm a newbie Orc ready to rock!
I've registered through a referral URL GirlscoutBob has put here.

IGN: picky

Cool beans. Handy thing about the referral link is that I can send an alliance invite with some starting goods the very moment you join ;P
IGM me if you need anything, like a spear or a beer!

The Broken Lands are now officially open.

Everything South of the ocean is fair game, with new players having the biggest land-grabbing advatage.
My 2 support cities will arrive in BL in 3 days.. they'll be able to support any alliance mates who pop up in the region.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is the dev post, http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/broken-lands-is-now-live_topic5648.html#75993, I didn't really bother reading it, but apparently it says some cool stuff.

What's up with global chat and the snuggle frenzies?  I participated in some and got free resources out of it, but its still really weird to me.
Ah.. those snugglers and hugglers in GlobalChat...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
People are very friendly when you are new.. but as soon as you gain some mass those same snugglers can often turn nasty with little provocation! (let me know if you need any weapons or gold to fend them off ;)

Hmm, new continent coming soon you said? Well, that is probably the only change that could get me back into this. Fresh start does not sound so bad when it is in a brand new continent.

I will probably create a new account or two in the next few days.
Excellent, always nice to see someone return!

Yeah, seems like I joined at a pretty good time to help out the Alliance in the new continent by claiming land.
A very interesting time lying ahead. We'll be some of the first explorers to murderize the natives in the new world ;P

PS: Mail me or duuvian whenever you need an invite to the alliance along with some starting goods.

Some huge updates coming in!

First one is small; The Devs are laying the groundwork for naval units (starting yesterday).
For now your caravans turn into ships when they need to cross water.. but later on you might need dedicated trade and battle fleets (at least if you are island-folk).
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The second, and much much larger update.. coming in the next couple of weeks: A new continent called The Broken Lands.
Great news for any new or returning players, as the current Top alliances won't be able to explore the New World in force... most of the top vets already have 8-10 cities in the Old World, making a move for them to the new world infeasible unless they wish to sacrifice the power and standing they currently have in the old world (and with an ongoing war between the top alliances, their expansion to the new continent will be even slower!). This makes expansion into the new world very fair for new players and sets everyone on equal footing. (Moving and already established city from the Elgea to the new continent is possible, but would take weeks).

Except for StA... our geographical good fortune means we are not only the closest established alliance to the new continent.. be we are also capable of taking control of the major trade routes between the old world and the new world (I'm certain we'll be doing lots of trading with the NPC natives, we need to liberate their Inca gold and the need to pay the blood tax!)

In the North (Elgea), the areas we control almost exclusively in red:
In the South (The Broken Lands), the new continent coming soon, and our current expansion plans:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If you wish to join StA in Illyriad, http://illyriad.com/?104473, we'll fill your stockpiles and help your first city grow so that you can explore the new world in force the very moment it opens (fresh players will have first picking thanks to the city teleportation spell, which your Capital city can do once.. and only once).
I will exodus one of my cities to the new continent the moment it opens.. it will take about a week to get there, but will serve as a trade hub with our Homelands and support any new StA cities that pop up near it. (Due to this city being as far South in Elgea as possible, it'll get there at least a week before anyone else from a Top alliance can.. an excellent advantage!)
